"WHAT THE FUCK DUDE?! YOU LOOK LIKE ABSOLUTE CRAP!" Payne yelled at the top of his lungs the moment I drove up in the Harley back home.
I shut the engine and winced, his voice made my head pound.
"Shut up man, I feel like crap. I don't need you to tell me," I strode up my front steps to my house.
"You got into an accident, didn't you? You wanted to kill yourself again didn't you? We went through this man you need to stop-"
I raised my hand and my front door slammed shut behind both of us.
I stood in my crystal white living room and turned round to look at him, "Cut it out Payne. I didn't try to kill myself this time. It's an accident. Furthermore, I wouldn't have ended up there if you weren't totally out drunk last night fucking some bitch."
It wasn't his fault, but I didn't really care. He neglected me last night for some girl and Destiny drove me to my limits.
My fucking limits.
"I'm sorry man. I really am. I wouldn't have let you run out like that, I shouldn't have. I'm sorry bro, we good?" Payne came up to me and held a hand out for me to take.
I sighed and took his hand, pulling him to me and slapping his back, "We're good."
We pushed one another off and he gave me a look, "You need to get cleaned up though, I received a notification that the arrows are done."
I felt my blood freeze, "Which arrows?"
"The ones for Destiny and Dylan. I saw the articles man, you beat him up like he was nothing. There are even videos being spread around. It doesn't look good at all. It's like both of you are fighting over her or something."
I took my blazer off and threw it aside, realising my white shirt on the inside was totally stained with my blood, "I won't need to fight with anyone over anyone Payne, you fucking know that."
He nodded thoughtfully, "I know I know, it just seems that way. What happened man?"
I walked up to my room and he trailed behind me, I filled him in on what happened last night. Excluding the part where Destiny danced with me.
"Then I woke up in this crusty place, beat up a gang that destroyed my phone and took one of their bikes back here."
I grabbed a new set of clothes and Payne stopped me, "Wait, doesn't that mean there is no way Destiny or Dylan will end up at the club together again?"
I groaned, "What the fuck am I supposed to do with that man? Go undercover and shoot them with the arrows or something?"
His eyes widened and the idiotic smile he gave me told me I just dug my own bloody grave.
"Get dressed for the occasion buddy, I know exactly where those two will be," Payne gave me a smirk and ran out of my room.
What in fuck's name have I gotten myself into?
***
The set was huge as fuck. People were running about getting ready for the show and Payne kept mumbling shit about who wasn't working out right.
"Look! LOOK AT THAT GUY EROS! He skipped leg day man who the fuck skips leg day?!" He half whispered half yelled into my ear and I shoved him aside.
I was carrying the case of arrows and he was carrying my bow in its case as well. They were inconspicuous enough, totally black with gold rims.
It looked like we were carrying stage equipment.
"I don't give two fucks Payne, does it look like I give a single fuck right now?!" I snapped at him quietly as we tried to blend in with the crew.
Our attire was really simple, a pair of jeans with a white shirt and black vest that said 'CREW' on it.
We looked like the sound men or the lighting people or something. No one suspected us.
We strode past the dressing rooms and some of the staff were walking in and out. I wasn't one to peek, but something made me want to look.
I could see her, facing away from me. It was definitely her. Her red shiny hair now straight and sleek down her back as her makeup artist worked on her face.
I wanted everyone to get the fuck away from her, she didn't need anything. Destiny was beautiful.
Payne pulled me away, out of my thoughts and far from her room.
"Come on man look at this place! It has so much more potential for a gym than a stupid set," he continued and I glared at him.
"I need to get a clear shot of both of them Payne, I don't care what this place can or cannot be. But I sure as hell can't get them from an angle backstage. Get me a fucking CLEAR SHOT!" I spit at him and some of the crew members turned to look at us.
So much for inconspicuous.
One man with a clipboard and a headset strode up to us, he eyed me and I groaned. I barely even started on my task and I'm going to get caught.
"Are you guys the new cameramen for our set?"
What?
"Actually I'm-"
"YES! Yes we are! We were just taking a look around. He wanted to see how the camera angles will be like, a clear shot," Payne nudged me and I rolled my eyes.
Great, look how far we've come.
"Ah nice, good to see you're already in the spirit. We need you two to be at the centre view. It's the easiest job for now and we can't screw up the close-up views so we're putting you two in charge. A stagehand will check on you guys in a little bit.
For now just head up to the control room up there," he pointed to the room at the top of the set that was overlooking the stage and audience.
"Yes sir!" Payne saluted the guy as he walked off.
I gave him a look and he shrugged, "What? Now we can get a perfect shot of both of them."
I ignored the odd sour feeling stirring within me and dragged myself up the stairs to the control room.
Everyone there had a headset and were rushing about while Payne and I found our place with a camera right in the centre of the viewing panel.
"You know how to work the camera?" Payne asked and I glared at him.
"I have a couple to pair, I won't have time to touch the damn camera."
He scoffed, "Okay then whatever you say."
Humans were a weird bunch.
They were having a talk show for a couple who had broken up. Who in the right mind would do that?
Though of course, lucky for them and the viewers, the couple was going to be paired right in front of them.
The arrows won't be caught on camera though, nothing supernatural ever gets caught by one.
The preparations were done and the set was up, the person in charge gave the cue and the opening theme played with the applauding audience.
The host greeted everyone the moment the clapping died down and I stared intently. My whole being seemed to be drawn to whoever he was going to ask out on stage.
"Let's welcome our biggest stars of the evening, Dylan Rogue and Destiny Paige!"
Cheers and another round of applause, but I could hear nothing.
I could only see her, my attention solely on her.
Destiny strode out in a long-sleeved beige chiffon top with a high-waisted dark purple skirt that hugged her figure nicely. Her smile was breathtaking, even when she was walking next to the man she supposedly broke up with.
Her matching light brown heels, as usual, made her look so slender and sexy. Even as she sat down on the cushy sofa, I swear I saw Dylan look at her perky butt.
I felt the growl in my throat and wanted to lash out at him. The rage seeping its way into my veins.
I heard a snap of a finger and looked up slightly to see Payne eyeing me.
"Focus dude, stop eye fucking her."
I grumbled internally, let's just get this done and over with.
I took a single arrow out and strung it on my golden bow. I pulled it and aimed it with all the hatred I had in me and fired it at Dylan.
It struck him hard and he gasped loudly when the arrow made impact with his heart.
I smiled, the feeling of firing at a human gave me a sense of accomplishment.
I strung the second arrow, the smell of lust coming off strongly.
I pulled and aimed it at Destiny, feeling my grip loosen ever so slightly. She looked up at me at that moment. The way she did at the club.
It hit a wrong nerve within me.
"You defy me by bringing a human here and you want me to spare her life?!" My mother's eyes drilled into mine. Her gigantic otherworldly figure hovering over me.
I gulped, my heart was racing.
Please don't kill her. Please please please.
My mother held her lifeless body in mid-air, her brown red hair swaying in the wind, her beautiful body now thin and scrawny, her deep soulful eyes now rolled back in a ghostly manner, her lips moving ever so weakly.
"Save me."
"EROS! You dishonour me! You go against me and now expect me to let this mere human escape punishment?!" My mother yelled, lightning and thunder flashing and crashing in the dark night sky.
I cringed as her voice roared down on me. Her huge raw pink body now blocking my view of the one girl I loved. The only girl I will ever love.
I shivered from the cold of the storm, fear piercing through my veins, my heart hammering against my chest.
My love, Psyche my love I'm so sorry.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and closed my eyes for a second. After all these years, those memories still remain.
Don't be affected. I never get affected.
I opened my eyes and felt resolve run down my arm, I left the arrow go and it pierced her heart.
I felt a pain in my heart at the same time but shrugged it off. My work here is done.
She flew forward slightly, a breath escaping her lips.
I closed up my cases and strode out of there. Payne quickly following behind me.
"Dude why are you rushing off? We have front row seats to watch everything go down man!"
I huffed an annoyed breath, "They're talking about their new movie, there's nothing to see."
"But Eros-"
"We're getting the fuck out of here so keep your trap SHUT!" I snapped and saw the screens behind him.
Destiny's face was shown beautifully at a flattering angle. She spoke confidently as always, with Dylan now shifting closer to her as she explained what the movie was about.
I shouldn't be feeling this way. Uncomfortable and sour as he kept his eyes on her.
The arrows were working, they were fucking working.
"So the female lead basically risked her life to stop the fight and that was when both characters found out how much they loved one another," Destiny finished and turned to Dylan at that moment.
A stupid 'aww' resounded through the set and I gritted my teeth. Dylan leaned even closer to her and her eyes were locked on his.
There was something in her eyes that I couldn't decipher. But to hell was I going to care.
I shoved Payne aside and left the fucking place.
