"The whole truth, no avoiding it at this point," Alexander said to Mitchell, sitting in her bed, facing her with sadness in his eyes. "You only have a week left minimum."

Mitchell teared up, not expecting a confirmation that matched Myles' words spoken in the kitchen. "I know."

"Let's start from the beginning. My brothers and I come from an ancient line of warriors. Our sole purpose was to serve the word of God. Anything he said we would do. Kill someone? We got it. Protect someone? Our whole militia will be there if needed. If we did what we were told we were gifted eternal life, no aging, no sickness, no bad can harm us. If we failed we would be cast away." He leaned back, replaying multiple lifetimes of information through his head, picking out what was important for Mitchell to understand with her given situation. "Myles is the eldest, then myself, Lunaire, Elysia, and our youngest sibling Eve. We did what had to be done and we were all blessed in different ways. All of the boys became angels-"

Mitchell shot him a look of disbelief, then of understanding after she thought back to Elysia's little slip. Alexander scoffed, pulling off his shirt and turning his back to her. Two enormous black wings broke through his skin, causing him to bleed as they released. She reached out to them, feeling the silkiness of his feathers with the tips of her fingers. A slight red tinge stuck to her fingers. Blood.

"Eve decided to become a prophet. The benefits we have without the dirty work for eternity. She is the one who told us that your family curse would be coming to an end, but the price to be paid was a pure soul. Every life time you had, you were always such a kind, wonderful person. Lately we have had too many turned ones destroying God's greatest creation, so I tried to find a way to stop it. For that I was punished," he said as he turned and pointed at his chest.

"Is this why Elysia called me Amelia?" Mitchell asked him as she put her hands in her lap.

"Yes. Always a curious, wonderful person. Every single lifetime. Not once have you been tainted, and I can't see a soul like that pay the price for being born into the wrong family. I went to God and pleaded that he stop this eternal punishment. There had been enough deaths, enough blood spilled, enough violence to pay the price for theft. He disagreed. Instead of accepting this, I continued to argue with him. He didn't approve of this, so he took the part of my soul linking myself to him, linking myself to the heavens, and cast me out. The pain was severe enough to knock me out for some time, and once I regained consciousness I found myself in a fiery inferno with black, broken wings from the fall. I took no time to heal, knowing it would happen on it's own, and set out to find you. You were just an early teen when your dad died. I watched your grieve. I watched you grow up with a family that didn't understand why you couldn't get past your father's death. You yourself didn't even know why." His wings retracted back into his body, leaving two small bloody cuts on his back that began to heal before Mitchell's eyes. "Your heart would never be the same because you now became the carrier of the first born curse. You may not have noticed, but your whole life changed that very instant. Over time we recovered the crucifix and the gems, but you never knew of the Bible so you never had the attachment that the rest of the first born did. Your mom eventually agreed to let your step father sell it in the antique store because she didn't have the connection to it when she decided to move on completely with your step-father and quit hanging on your deceased father. It took some time for me to confirm it was indeed the one we had been searching for, but once I knew for sure I notified Lunaire and Elysia. At first they wanted nothing to do with it. A curse is a curse, and they didn't want to piss God off more than he already was with your family."

Mitchell teared up, moving closer to Alexander. "So, they literally waited till the day the curse started for me? They had so much time to help me but they just sat there and waited," she whispered, more so to herself.

"Yes. And, unfortunately, it wasn't to just save you. Elysia tried to interfere when you were barely twelve during the attack meant for your father. Instead he got mauled and lost his vision. We aren't supposed to feel pain, we aren't supposed to suffer damage. He got in the way, he got his one and only warning from God himself. He is here for me. Like I said earlier, our sister is a prophet. She saw... things."

Mitchell cleared her throat, trying to remember all that time ago. She remembered hearing a dog and yelling, but she couldn't remember what she saw. "Why did Elysia try, and what did she see? No secrets."

Alexander leaned back into her lap, resting his head on her thighs, shutting his eyes as he continued on. "He took it upon himself to get back his Bible. He has personal notes inside, explaining more into what incidents are recorded inside from his point of view. Immortals can see it, mortals aren't supposed to be, but sometimes those more in tune to the spirit realm can make it out. He has always been the honest one, so there are things in there mortals are not supposed to see or know. Bad things can happen if people found out the whole truth of certain events. He explained to your father how it belonged to his family from hundreds of years ago, telling him he would give him what ever he needed for his family if it meant having it back. Your father knew your mother was expecting another child, your family was struggling, so his unnatural connection to the book meant less to him as it did supporting his family. He considered, but asked for some time to get it appraised. Elysia tried to help him knowing that he would ultimately give back the Bible, hoping to break your family free, but that isn't how it works. Eve saw him die, then she saw you. She told us you would have no children, no husband, nothing, so once you passed, it would be the end of the first born blood payments. She also saw me, trying my best to save your soul only to be sent to a fiery pit of pain and misery with no escape for my continual traitor actions against God. Apparently me being cast away was only a warning. I begged my brothers for help, pleading to them like I did for God. They listened, and they said they would assist and only intervene if completely necessary. They don't want to lose me, so they have no choice but to help you. If you go, I go. That is what we know for a fact."

"And Myles?" Mitchell asked him. "How was he the one chosen to carry out this murder? Is he the reason you go to where Eve saw you in her visions?"

Alexander opened his eyes, looking deep into hers. "I am the one getting in the way, so it is kind of a poetic moment, God choosing my own brother to do it. Everyone sees it as karma, I see it as a cruel reminder what I was forced to leave behind. The man I looked up to will likely be the man that takes me down in the end."
