The following morning Axel opened his eyes with one thing on his mind. His first words were…

“Status”, and the text box appeared before him.

“I should at least figure out the details of each of my skills”, said Axel as began focusing on 1 of them.

“I-Is everything alright my lord?”, asked Yohan from behind the door.

“Ah yes, no problems here, I’ll be out soon”, replied Axel. This can’t be right. I haven't done anything yet and I have an ultimate skill!?… or I guess it’s classified as a nova skill in this world. What is a skill cluster though?

This is nuts… but I remember the system said something like this when it was activated. Is it because I came from another world? Wait, did the system change my artistic skills into an actual skill!!... then this inspector skill.

Ah… I guess artists do have to pay attention to the finer details and I was a bit of an introvert. I don't like talking about myself much either.

“My lord? Breakfast has already been served”, said Yohan.

“Ok I’m coming”, replied Axel. I don’t have time to look over the other skills, I’ll do it later.

Axel got up, got ready, and went to have breakfast. He saw his little siblings having breakfast in the dining hall. The twins were now 10-year-olds and were allowed to move around the manor as long as they were accompanied by their attendants.

“Good morning big brother”, said Axel’s little sister Mariana. She jumped up from her chair and ran to hug her brother. Axel laughs and pats her on her head.

Mariana had become an energetic child, she runs the fastest and gets into the most trouble. Her crimson eyes that she got from her mother were filled with curiosity and mischief. Mariana took great pride in her hair as she would often admire pictures of her mother that hung from the walls; her excessively long curly hair would sway in the wind as she ran through the halls.

“Good morning big brother”, said Axel’s little brother Aeric.

Aeric was more laid back than his twin sister. He is the one who talks her out of the more dangerous adventures around the manor but he does enjoy exploring with her. Aeric habitually narrows his eyes whenever he knew he was being lied to or misled; it’s as if those intelligent golden eyes could always discern the truth. He also grows out his curly hair but he would tie it in a bun like his father. He takes after his older brother in certain aspects for example his love of reading; Axel taught the twins how to read starting early like he was in his previous life. 

“Good morning”, Axel responded. “You two got up early today. What’s the occasion?”, Axel asked as he brought Mariana back to her seat.

“Oh nothing really, we just wanted to have breakfast with you”, said Aeric.

“Hmm ok. Well let's eat then”, said Axel.

The trio talked and laughed over breakfast. Mariana and Aeric told Axel about all the things they had planned for the day. The attendants behind looked drained from just hearing the twins' plan.

After breakfast, Axel said his farewells to the twins and headed straight to his father’s office.

Axel knocks on the door and Odeus tells him to enter.

“Good morning father”, said Axel.

“Good morning Axel”, replied Odeus as he got up from his desk. “We have much to do today. Follow me”.

Odeus leads Axel out of the office and not too far down the hall. He then opens a door to a room Axel had never been in before. It was a small armory.

“This is my private collection. You can choose anything from this room but only the things you can actually use”, said Odeus.

“Nice, hehehe”, laughed Axel. He then received awkward stares from Odeus and Yohan.

Axel enters the room and looks around. There were all kinds of weapons and armors, many of which were too flashy for his taste. He searched and searched but since he wasn’t into heavy armor he didn’t see anything he liked until he spotted a nice vest in a box under a table. He picked it up, It felt thin yet felt sturdy and he liked its design. It was black and had leather in certain parts, under it was a dark blue long-sleeved fitted shirt.

“This looks nice but is it any good being tossed on under here like this? I guess now would be the best time to use my skill”, said Axel to himself. “ [Inspector]”.

The information followed right into his head. He now understood everything about the object.

“Great, this will work for now. Set effect? I have to get the rest then… god I hope they are somewhere in here”, said Axel as he used his skill on the shirt.

“Eh…”, said Axel. “it’s just a regular shirt”. He then used his skill on the clothes he was wearing and saw that the information was almost the same, only the color was different. “I guess the color goes nicely with the vest… I’ll take it for now”.

Axel began his hunt for the rest of the set but he could not find them. He didn’t want to spend too much time searching for them and began searching for a weapon instead. He walked to the far right corner where he saw small swords. He wanted to be a magic user but he knew his circumstances and that a good sword was very important. But he also knew he didn’t know much about swords and did not have enough time to completely learn how to use one. He chose a short sword he saw on the high shelf; it caught his eyes because a tiny light flickered when he looked at it from a certain angle. 

He had to jump to reach the sword and when he grabbed it, it felt perfect in his hands. The only thing left to do was to appraise it and that’s exactly what he did.

Crimson Witch’s Blade of Gluttony

This short sword was made by the Crimson Witch. Rare items were wasted creating this item. Fortunately, the effort placed into making it caused it to evolve into a growth-type item… Unfortunately, the creator decided to use a Vampiric Riftworm core for this weapon. This weapon can be dangerous for its user and wishes to devour all in its path… Do Not Touch This Weapon’s Blade.

Whoa, this weapon is kinda awesome… I can’t even believe how good this is. Even though it looks really simple, why hasn’t anyone ever used it before? “You're coming with me, hehehe”, said Axel. “If I can find a backup weapon as good as this one that would be great”.

He didn't have to look far to find something else that caught his eyes. Right under the table in a box on the ground, he saw something. He picked it up and realized it was a butcher’s knife… the kind used to cut meat.

“What’s this doing in the armory, did they make a mistake”, said Axel. “Hmmm, I don’t think that’s the case, let me check it out with my skill. [Inspector]”.

“Yikes, what’s with that name, and what’s with its durability. I can’t see its info, if it does good damage this would make an awesome backup weapon?”, said Axel. “It looks regular though, am I missing something. My skill level must be too low. I kinda want it though, it’s kinda edgy and I’m guessing no one would use this as a weapon”.

“You're taking an awfully long time in there, need some help”, yelled Odeus from the entrance.

“Ahh… no I’m good, I’m coming”. Vest, shirt, sword, cleaver should I take anything else. A shield would be nice but I don’t want to be walking around with too much stuff.

Axel was satisfied with the things he had found and went to show Odeus the things he had chosen.

Axel went back to the entrance and presented the things he wanted.

“These Items seem nice for a beginning adventurer right?”.

Odeus looked down at the stuff Axel had in his hand.

“Oh, this vest was the first thing I ever bought when I became an adventurer. I wore it when I was your age, it’s funny that you picked this item” said Odeus right before he gasped. “This sword… I don’t recommend you use this and that cleaver!!”. Odeus placed his palm on his face.

“Why is something wrong with them?”, asked Axel.

“It’s just that this sword is a bit dangerous. Actually, your mother made this when she thought she secretly had hidden blacksmithing potential… She used up materials her brother gave her to make a grand sword and ended up with this. It’s one of the few times I’ve ever seen him scold her”, said Odeus as he laughed. “She placed it in here and said it would come in handy one day. This cleaver too, your mother loved collecting weird things. She bought this from a guy who said this was a mythical weapon that could cut anything in the universe and make the most perfect slice of steak”.

Axel laughed. “Hmm I like them though can’t I have them…”, Axel pleaded.

“I-I guess you can use it. It would be a waste if it was never used. Be careful with them and never touch the blade of that sword, not even to clean it, trust me on that”, said Odeus.

“Understood”, replied Axel. Score!!.

“I was looking for the rest of the set for this vest but I couldn’t find them and I wanted to carry a shield but I think it would be bothersome to lug it around”, said Axel.

“Hmmm, the rest of the set is in your uncle’s store in the city I think, I gave them to him a few years ago. He wanted to sell them but I doubt anyone would be interested in them”, said Odeus. “As for the shield you can definitely take one and really should. Just use this”. Odeus hands Axel a small pouch.

“Is this an inventory bag”, said Axel excitedly.

“Yes”, said Odeus with a very gruesome expression. “A very small and EXPENSIVE! inventory bag”.

Axel hesitantly took the bag.

“Let me tell you how it works. It has 20 slots, so it can carry 20 different items but you can only carry up to 50 of the same items in 1 slot. You better take care of it, the price of this bag alone could feed a small family for a year or 2. I put some things you’ll need in it already taking up 2 slots. Put those in it as well then go find a small shield. Equip what you need and meet me in the grand hall”, said Odeus.

Odeus leaves and Axel goes back to find a shield he liked. After finding the shield and putting it in the inventory, Yohan helped Axel by helping him to equip his items.

Axel was now suited up. He had no idea what his father was going to tell him to do but he knew that it involved him going outside the comforts of the mansion grounds. He was excited and ready for whatever there was to come.
