The Rival (Censored)

Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Aug 03, 2022

Chen

I tried to lean on Mark’s side to annoy Alex while listening to the student council members’ preparations for the next charity event with Mark in front of me, only to discover he had been outside the room talking with his bandmate, Justin.

What exactly are they discussing? Why was Alex laughing? What did Justin say to the jerk?

What’s the matter with me? I guess it’s already too late for me to stop now.

As storm surges smashed against the cliffs, these questions ran through my mind.

Given Mark’s constant wandering around the bush with the primary agenda, I let out a frustrated sigh as I waited for the proper moment to excuse myself from the meeting.

Plus, the flirtatious women who surround me have begun to irritate me quite a bit.

Jun, on the other hand, appeared to be taking pleasure in his time with Henry.

I had no idea they were such good pals. Is that the case?

For whatever reason, I began to notice him seated next to Alex’s best friend. If not, I caught a glimpse of him on the phone or waited in the hallway until Henry exited his class.

Then, they went out of the room together.

I frowned, suspecting that something was going on between these two men’s sheets.

Do you think there’s a chance for Alex and me, too?

I chose to stay and do nothing but sit and listen to my bandmates’ bullshit since I assumed they were here. I’d rather be alone on the roof for the entire day.

“So, we have to rush and do double work until the following two weeks,” Mark stood up to invite everyone. “There are only two weeks until the charity function.” I made a gesture with my hand. “Are you sure, Chen?”

“Could you please pardon me for a moment? I’ve got something to do. I’m going to delegate everything to Jun.”

I smiled and tapped Jun’s shoulders and stood and proceeded toward the entrance.

With a grimace on his face, he whispered loudly. “Where the hell are you going?”

I gave him a wink and walked out the door, waving him farewell.

As soon as I got outdoors, I noticed that Alex was nowhere to be seen.

When I returned my gaze to the room, I noticed Justin approaching Mark and snatching the event posters. I went on a hunt with the assumption that he was still in the building.

I was drenched in sweat after sprinting for a few minutes while running from one building to the next, looking for that bastard.

Alex, where have you gone?

After an hour of searching, I gave up and decided to return to my flat in enormous thudding steps, street after street. I couldn’t get him out of my head, especially after what happened in my bed.

While thinking about what’s been going on between us lately, I shook my head.

I couldn’t figure out why he let me kiss him without retaliation, or why I kept kissing him—even more frequently than before. Was there something I’m overlooking?

I gasped and hid behind the tree when I turned my head to the right side of the street. I noticed Alex texting in front of the enormous mansion. My chest throbbed uncontrollably.

What is he doing in front of the mansion?

He stood in front of a 460-square-meter L-shaped house that appeared to be a modern structure painted white and once owned by a wealthy family.

Any passer-by could see the gleam of their belongings via a large tinted glass window spanning the entire left half of the house, most likely from an office.

The walls throughout the rest of the house were basic white. In addition, a two-meter-high cypress gate matched the stone fence that surrounded the whole area.

The house owners additionally installed a large “Yoon Residence” on a metal plate at the gate.

Was this Alex’s residence?

If his family possessed such a large and wonderful home, I couldn’t understand why that idiot continued to live in a run-down apartment so far away from them.

When he turned his head in my way while I was analyzing his situation, I recoiled and pushed my back into the wall.

I shifted my weight to get a better look, and I kept a tight eye on him.

He took his time approaching the gate and looked at it with trepidation. He pressed the doorbell despite his skepticism.

After a few moments, an elderly lady in uniform smiled and opened the gate, clearly eager to hug him.

They hugged for almost a minute before she allowed him inside and closed the gate.

I quietly approached the home and stood in front of the cypress gate after seeing no one outside.

“So, this is where you live,” I murmured, my brows knitted in confusion. “Yoon Residence,” I whispered. I lifted my head to look at the mansion’s exterior.

I swiveled my head and covered my mouth with my hand. “Why is he in this room? It’s my ex-fiancée’s house.”

I stood in front, continuing to wonder why he was there, considering the frowning expression he gave that old woman, who also looked familiar to me.

Who was she, and what role does she play in Alex’s life?

Chen and Alex have despised and blamed each other for their violent rivalry over musical and personality differences, as they unknowingly shared similar problems outside of music – Sam, the woman they both love.

While her death unknowingly caused misery for both of them, Chen and Alex unexpectedly have become fond of each other, and it didn't take long before things got steamy and passionate between the two after they were compelled to collaborate for the university's charity event.

Could Chen forgive Alex, who had such a tumultuous past? Could Alex be willing to let go of his shame and accept Chen's unforgettably beautiful love? What will become of our two main characters? Will they be able to have a "normal" love life, or will their trust difficulties take over?
