"Alright Dan, Isaac. It is time to go to bed."

"But mom, aren't you going to tell a bedtime story?"

"Hmmm... but you already heard all of my fantasy stories." A middle-aged female said to her two sons.
"I don't know if I have anymore stories you like."

"That doesn't matter!" Dan said.
"Yeah, please tell us a new story!" Isaac follows up his brother.

The mom chuckles.

"All right. I will tell you a story. This one happened for real, or so people say. It is the tale of lady Singlespire."

She begins.
"Ahem! About ten years ago there lived a woman with dark long hair and scarlet eyes. People say she is one of the great witches from that time period, possessing great knowledge and power to control magic."

"She was dubbed lady Singlespire, not because she was a noble or a princess, but because she was a important person to the kingdom she lived in. Wherever she went she would bend the rules of nature to aid others around her. It was as if she changed reality itself."

"Uhh... what is reality mom?" Isaac asks. Upon which the mom was pondering how to explain.

"Well... I'll explain another time.

One fateful day lady Singlespire caught wind of shadow creatures who lived in their own worlds. Of course, she was curious enough that she wanted to visit these worlds too. So the lady shopped around town and visited everyone to gather objects and trinkets she needed for her experiment."

"However..." the woman held up a finger, "the experiment wouldn't go so fortunate.
That evening lady Singlespire was conducting her experiment. She was playing around with the shadows and making all kinds of magic brews. She had created a copper tower that she filled with her brews and shadows which supposedly acted as a gateway, a door to the other world."

"What happened next was something lady Singlespire didn't predict. In the midst of her experiment a bolt of lightning struck the tower, and it went out of control. Before the lady could do something, a bright flash appeared. After that she was gone! Leaving only the burned copper tower behind and potions on the ground."

"That's sad!" Dan said. "Did she come back?"

"No." Mom shook her head. "Nobody knows where she might be. She may be in another world. But there are rumors that sometimes from your shadow you can hear a whisper. A whisper belonging to the lady..."

"Really?! I can meet her!" The two boys exclaimed in excitement. Which made their mom chuckle.

"Maybe, if you are nice enough. Now off you go to bed." She kisses her sons on the forehead.

"Night mom!"
