I open my door once again, Matt’s head lifts off the bed to look at me. His tail thumps against the covers. I click my tongue, he stretches on my bed before hopping off, walking out the door and down the stairs. I walk out of my room and close the door behind me. I make my way down the hall and go downstairs to the kitchen. I grab an apple from the basket and walk over to the shoe cubby. I sit down on the bench and place a pair of shoes on my feet. I grab Matt’s leash from the wall, it jingles, and Craig comes bolting from the living room. “Sorry Craig, not today.”, I say to him, patting him on the head. He walks over to Matt and licks his ear. I attach the leash to Matt’s collar; I open the door and Matt walks out beside me. I lock the door and close it behind us. Matt walks forward in front of me, he doesn’t pull, just slightly in front of me.
We would jog for 15 minutes then take a walking break to cool down. We did this for about an hour and we made it throughout town. I stopped in front of a random house and sat on the curb. Matt sat down and began licking my hand. I pat his head, “Good boy Matt.”. He licks my hand once more and lays down on the sidewalk. I scroll on my phone to see I have a text message from Alex. I open the message and it’s a picture of me sitting on the sidewalk from a window. I turn around to see him waving at me through the window. I awkwardly wave back, slightly confused and creeped out. He disappears from the window and a minute later is opening the front door. “Come on in”, Alex says waving me in. “Are you gonna kill me? This seems very horror movie of you.”, I said, scratching my neck. He laughed and closed the door behind me. I sat down on the floor and took off my shoes. A cat started rubbing up against me and I jumped.
