Rylan
The moment those words passed through Xavier’s lips and the fear that crossed Icarus’ face sparked the Alpha inside of me. Thankfully, it’ll be easier to hide Icarus because his pheromones were unsenseable, but that didn’t mean others wouldn’t see him. I whipped out my phone, calling the one person I knew would handle this.
“Son, I didn’t expect you to call me.” Dad murmured from the other side of the line, sounding a little confused, “is everything okay?”
“I need you to send some guards.” I told him firmly, drawing Icarus close to me, “and make it fast.”
“What’s going on?” Dad demanded, sounding a little worried, “are you okay? Is someone going after you?”
“Not me.” I told him, not wanting him to worry yet, “I’ll explain everything later, but I need them to pick me up. It’ll be me and three others. Okay?”
I knew dad was hesitating on the other side of the phone, but I guess he decided he was going to trust me, “okay, I’ll have someone there in five minutes. Will you be okay?”
I could hear the sounds of yelling and heavy footfalls coming our way, making me realize that we had been found out, “it’ll have to do. Just have them hurry.”
I didn’t wait for a response as I hung up the phone. Xavier and Lucas moved closer to Icarus, guarding him slightly. Although Xavier is a Recessive Alpha, he can be intimidating when he wants to be. I could feel Icarus trembling beside me.
“Shit.” Icarus whispered, sounding angry and afraid at the same time, “I should’ve known this was going to happen.”
I could see at least twenty Alphas coming down the hall, Evan in the lead. His eyes met mine through the doorway, and I saw the sinister smirk on his face. I knew why he was doing this, he didn’t know how to handle being rejected by someone he saw as lower than him, and he was going to drag him down as much as possible.
“Hand him over, Adams.” Evan yelled out, stopping a few feet away from the door, “he wanted to pretend to be an Alpha, so we will treat him like one. He needs to find out what happens to those who lie.”
“Prick.” Icarus mumbled, glaring at Evan.
I boldly stood in front of Icarus, blocking him from anyone’s view, “so what if he’s an Omega? He has proved time and time again that he is just as capable of doing things as an Alpha can do. It is obvious now that the stereotypes against Omegas need to be lifted because I would take him over any of y'all any day.”
“No normal Omega would go to a school full of Alphas.” Evan stated firmly, shrugging his shoulders, “his place is with other Omegas, and then once graduating, being in the kitchen and raising an Alpha’s babies. So, I’m not going to ask you again. Hand him over, or I will come and get him.”
I was half-tempted to beat the shit out of him again, but I felt Icarus holding onto the back of my shirt. It pleased me slightly to see him holding onto me, as he needed me, and it made me feel like he was seeing me as the Alpha who would protect him.
So, I was going to do exactly that.
“I don’t know how you’re going to deal with him,” I said coldly, crossing my arms over his chest, “but under the rules of edicate, I hereby announce with everyone here to know is that I claim Icarus Stone as my Omega, and if you try to hurt him, you will have to deal with me and my family.”
Evan looked taken back, as if he didn’t expect me to do that, “you son of a bitch! You can’t do that!”
I smirked, pulling down the collar of my shirt, letting the mark be seen, “I believe I can.”
A mark on an Alpha or an Omega is very significant, and no Alpha will be able to touch that Omega, whether to punish them or anything else. Those ‘punishments’ must be dished out by the Alpha that they marked, or who marked them. That means, only I am the one who can punish Icarus for lying.
“You can’t touch him, Evan.” I growled, putting my clothes back in place, “and if you tried to, you would get in trouble.”
Evan looked really pissed, his hands balling into fists, “he needs to be expelled, Rylan! He has tarnished this Academy’s name.”
“I disagree.” Xavier growled, his arms crossing over his chest, “they need to change the rules here and allow Omegas as well. Icarus has proved to us that he is smart, and that he can handle himself. These rules that are dedicated upon Omegas need to be changed. We are in a whole different generation. We are not sexist.”
I could see the Alphas around Evan whispering to one another, looking a little hesitant now. Evan was getting more and more pissed, the tips of his ears turning red. I wondered if I had truly gotten through to them.
One by one, the Alphas started to leave, knowing that there is nothing that they could do. It pleased me to see this because I wasn’t sure if I would be able to take them all on my own without using my pheromones. Evan was the only one left standing, looking really pissed.
“Give up, Evan, you’re not going to win this.” I told him, feeling a little smug.
I didn’t like the slight smirk on his face, “I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”
I tensed when I saw the Principal heading down the hall, police officers behind them. I knew this was going to happen since it was taboo, but I would fight tooth and nail for Icarus.
He wouldn’t get in trouble for this.
“Mr. Stone.” The principal said coldly, “come with us.”
Icarus let out a tense breath.
“Yes, sir.” He mumbled.
Before Icarus could walk past me, I grabbed his hand. He looked up at me, the fear in his eyes, but I squeezed his hand, wordlessly showing him that everything was going to be okay.
He did something I didn’t expect.
Taking a step closer, he stood up on his tippy toes, pressing his lips against mine softly. I froze, not expecting him to do that, but before I could do anything, he broke the kiss, taking a step back.
“Thank you,” He murmured softly, “for everything.”
To me, that sounded like a goodbye.
I wanted to tell him it was going to be okay, but the words dried up in my mouth. All I could do was watch him being escorted away by the police officers, looking small and defeated.
I knew what I needed to do…
But at what cost?
