“Reelthrine, sit down, I apologize for our behavior, it’s just… The still sea you came from is an oblivion, basically a null void, that’s why there isn't a lot of danger here because the still sea can swallow anything and reduce it into nothing.” Uncle Yu explained the endless ocean I was on, I was shocked of how lucky I am to be even alive; in one piece in that matter. Reelthrine nods her head vigorously

“Enough with that, but it is amazing how you were able to survive oblivion itself” Uncle Yu said

“Maybe even a greater wolf bites you, you’d still be alive” Reelthrine laughs at her joke but just hearing the word greater with wolf would instantly mark me dead if I face one

"So what's your curse Sentrik? I'm certain you've heard it–" Uncle Yu was cut midway of his sentence when Reelthrine intercepted

"I remember now! Uncle, what method was it to show if you're cursed or not?" Reelthrine asked

"Huh? Why?" Uncle Yu was confused

"Sentrik didn't get a message from that smiley demon thing"

"What? Is she telling the truth?" Uncle Yu turn his head to look at me

I gave a silent nod as I shove a spoonful of eggs into my mouth

“Well… There is that one way” Uncle Yu gets off of his chair and walked to the kitchen and too a small knife

I glanced at him cautiously

“No need to be alarmed, the method to see if you’re Accursed or not is simple, all you need to do is to see if your blood isn’t pitch black” Uncle Yu was going to prick his finger but Reelthrine grabbed the knife

“No, Uncle, please let me do it!” Reelthrine’s ears went sideways again then proceeds to prick her finger, what came out was jet black liquid, it trickled like ink

“See I’m an Accursed because my blood is pitch black” She said

“That’s really interesting” Truly I was intrigued, what kind of blood cells would they have if the hemoglobin that makes blood red isn’t present? How are they still alive? I kept thinking about it but without a solid answer, there’s no use to think about it

“You don’t have to prick your finger right now if you want” Uncle Yu is still as reassuring as ever, nonetheless I was determined to see if I am cursed or not so I set down my spoon and took the small knife then slit my wrist. I wanted to make sure if it’s red or not so having a bigger wound would make a better view.

[A wave of tranquility hits you]* I was calm, although Reelthrine and Uncle Yu’s expressions weren’t

To my surprise, it wasn’t pitch black. Blood red crimson poured out of my slit wound, gushing out even

“I’m not cursed” I said 

“OH MY G- SENTRIK!!” Uncle Yu Shouted and ran to his room 

“I’m getting the medkit!” He said

“SENTRIK! YOU IDIOT! You didn’t have to do that!” Reelthrine stands up alarmed, she tries to cover my wound with clean cloth but was worried if it might hurt if she did

“It’s ok, it’s not deep. Something like this won’t kill me instantly”

“How are you so calm?! Uuugh I don’t understand you at all” 

“Here!” Uncle Yu came running then he patches up my wound with care, it was he first I’ve received a medical treatment usually I’d be the one giving myself that and my mother would nag at me for injuring myself

“You gave me a heart attack Sentrik” Uncle Yu finishes his treatment it felt nice

I rubbed the soft texture of the bandage, it was new and clean. It's most likely injuries occur a lot which is why there are many rolls of it in a small kit

“I won’t do it again sorry”

“Haah…” Uncle Yu sighed in relief

“So you really aren’t cursed..” Reelthrine said

Yes I wasn’t cursed, this was beneficial for me considering this means less things to worry about when finding my sister, and right now what’s important is to actually get clues on finding her but being in a cabin with an hundred year old uncle and a catgirl isn’t ideal, well maybe if I can get information from them, then it wouldn't be bad.

“This is my first time seeing someone who isn’t. All of those who come here become Accursed whether they like it or not..” Uncle Yu said

“How about your curse Uncle Yu? I’m curious too” It’s only fair if I ask what is his, since they kept asking for mine

“Ah well.. It’s called Perain, A curse that’ll cause constant pain.” Uncle Yu said melancholicly 

‘Ah kinda like Chronic Pain Syndrome..’ I thought

“The pain differs each day, for example, today I have to endure being constantly stabbed by long needles but it’s tolerable so I’m able to cook for all of us” He continued

‘Nevermind, not like Chronic Pain Syndrome…’ I took back my assumption

“Uncle had a day where he had to be in constant pain of being drowned… it was awful..” Reelthrine’s ears loomed down

“Yes but I was able to manage” Uncle Yu Pats Reelthrine’s head

“I’m sorry I asked..” I kinda felt bad now

“No need we were also prying on what curse you had too but even though you're human” Uncle Yu laughed softly
