-The Next Day-
I was finally off work and started heading over to Mama Laney's house, to pick up Peyton. When I finally pulled up, I couldn't believe my eyes. There was music blasting, and a lot of cars outside. I walked up and just walked in, since nobody would hear me knock anyway. I saw Pey just sitting there, playing in paint. Ethan and his friends were drinking and playing a twister. All I can think is, is he serious right now? My baby could die if she licks her fingers. It's paint. And all he could think about was drinking and twister. I ran over and grabbed her, and I turned off the music.
"WHAT THE HELL ETHAN!" I screamed, which really got his attention.
"What's wrong? We were just having fun."
"What's wrong? are you serious? My baby has paint all over her!"
"It is just acrylic paint. It's not going to kill her."
"Yeah, but, it could make her sick! Or have a reaction to the paint, you never know!"
"Yah it could, but I was watching her to make sure she wouldn't lick her fingers, like a father would." he stared at me. I gulped and looked down, thinking to myself *Shit*
"Can I speak to you outside for a minute?" I asked him. "Hey, Justin, can you wipe her down and put her in her carseat for me?" He nodded and we walked out. "WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU GET THAT IDEA FROM!?"
"Well, I was putting Peyton to bed last night. I thought about the day I saw you walk out of the nursery. Earlier that day, I saw her birth certificate, with your name on it." he looked at me. "and when I saw the date she was born, none of it added up, you say you cheated and thats not you, plus I saw a scrapbook of pictures of Peyton growing up you sent to my mom, and that's something that you would send to a grandma."
"I already told you, I cheated on you, and your mom and I were always close, so I sent pictures, and your mom watches her 5 days a week. Of course she's going to want things like pictures!"
"Alright, prove it to me, let's go down to the clinic tomorrow and get a paternity test done, and if she isn't mine there is nothing I can do about it, but if she is mine I want to be apart of her life and if I have to take you to court, then I will."
"I have work."
"Well, then we can do it after you get off."
"I get off at 5:00. It closes at 4:55".
"Then we can do it over the weekend."
"I have plans."
"Well then you're cancelling them, unless your just making up excuses to keep me from finding out the truth."
"Whatever Ethan, we'll go." I said. He smirked and walked in and right out, handing me the car seat with Peyton in it. I put her in the car and got in and left.
"Remember the clinic at 2:00, Saturday." He said. On the way home I found myself crying, he's so immature. He cant handle a 1 year old, he doesn't know what show she likes to watch in the morning, or what her favorite baby food flavor is, or the way she likes her bottle temperature. He shouldn't be a father, he literally had a party while he was watching her. She was eating paint, while he was busy playing twister. This was a mistake. I shouldn't have moved back here. I thought it would be good for us, but, I guess I didn't think about all the outcomes that could have come from this. I'm glad we moved back, but, I think I'm starting to regret it.
