As the ship approached, Jem could make out that the ship had a huge hole in it’s hull and water was gushing in through it. The ship was broken from multiple sides and was in no condition for sailing. Yet, somehow it was moving towards them but slowly. The ship looked like a 19th century, pirate ship and most of it’s surface was covered with what seemed like creepers and seaweed.
The sight was unnerving and a little gross.
“That’s not possible” said Roy, pointing towards the hole in the hull of the ship. The ship was was slowly picking pace. They figured that they had nearly 15 minutes, before the ship reached them.
Then they decided to make a run, for the bridge and see what the Professor thought.
The scene in the bridge, was much different from what Jem had expected. Both the captain and the professor were looking towards the horizon with their binoculars. The captain was vigorously shaking. Vera seemed to have a grip on himself, even though he looked concerned. Nil, Will and Alex were waiting in the corner looked concerned.
Finally, the captain trembling sat down and put the binocular aside. It was then, Jem noticed the nameplate pinned to his shirt. Cpt R. Rick.
No way he could be the same Rick from the note, but it was not the time for these thoughts. The ship seemed to be only minutes away from reaching them.
Jem picked the captain’s binocular and looked towards the ship. He saw nothing distinguishable on the ship, except for the matter that it was a 19th century pirate ship, covered with seaweed and algae. As he zoomed in, on it’s hull, he could see the name craved their. The name of the ship was the “THE FLYING DUTCHMAN”. Jem’s head was pounding. He had read and heard stories about this ship. There was even a mythical story about this ship. But no way it could be real. Jem put down the binoculars from his eyes and handed it to Nil, who wanted to see it for himself.
“What do you think?” professor Vera asked with a tone of concern.
Jem looked up but didn’t reply. He looked into his eye and an understanding passed between them.
“Davy Jones” said Jem finally.
The ship was only 500 meters away from them.
Now that was why, so many ships and planes had disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle.
200 meters left for final contact.
“Listen you five, we don’t have much time” said the Professor, in a grave voice. “Take the lifeboat and the 3 girls downstairs along with you and go to the island. He will not follow you there. I have instructed the girls to prep the boat and be ready to leave.”
“But you will be killed” said Nil in a panicked voice.
“No, they don’t take kill. We will be kept prisoners. Jem knows how to free us” replied the Professor with a brave smile. His eyes gave a desperate look.
“Do I?” said Jem surprised.
Only 100m left before final contact.
“Hurry” shouted the Professor.
With one last look at the professor, Jem and the other ran downstair. The girls Vera was talking about was Beth and two other girls named Ana and Nelinha.
“Quick” they said, frantically pointing towards the raft. It had a motor, so no way they would be a able to follow them.
As they all boarded, the girl named Nelinha, pulled the strings and the engine spun into lif and they zoomed towards the island.
As they were about a 100 meters from the ship, Jem caught the view of Davy Jones, walking across the plank, on board of the Luxior.
He had tentacles coming from his beard and his hand were almost like a crabs arm. His eyes were red, and his body was covered in slime.
“Do you fear death” he shouted, as the eight of them reached the island.
