A Visit To Lily's Garden

"Xièzhì" and "A Moon For The Mountain"

"Xièzhì" and "A Moon For The Mountain"

Aug 03, 2022

Hello, Readers!

Just a quick update for two of my novels: "Xièzhì" and "A Moon For The Mountain."

I hope you're liking "Xièzhì" so far!

I wanted to alert you that I am changing the schedule for chapters to daily. It will be one chapter per day until the final episode in September.

There are several reasons I'm doing this:

🦋 1. October is a terrible time for creators to upload on Tapas. Tapas has events taking place every October, and because of this, their unstable system cannot handle sharing scheduling calendars with users. I went through this last year and the year before, as well.

When chapters are scheduled on our end, the calendar changes it and reflects entirely different days in October. I was able to play around it the last two years, but I'm so annoyed with their glitch. We shouldn't have to find loopholes around their glitches just to upload during the entire month of October and the beginning of November. No amount of reports has helped. We turn in screenshots and videos showing the glitch happening as we watch it and nothing gets done. From now on, I am going to try to avoid having any of my work update in October.

🦋 2. With "A Moon For The Mountain" on a steady roll and Part 2 beginning in a couple of weeks, I will have it and "Xièzhì" posting major chapters simultaneously.  I would like to keep up with comments and activity at once, and since "A Moon For The Mountain" is a daily upload, this will make it much easier for me.

🦋 3. I'm impatient. There. I said it.

I understand Tapas is supposed to be broken down and spaced out over time, but wouldn't that be for webtoons? I don't know if that's supposed to include novels, but I know it drives me crazy to have to put down a book and not read on until the next day. I can read a 400 page novel in two days. Once I begin, I can't stop. I'll even read while I walk. I don't know if the readers here are the same, but for me, if I can't have the hardcopy in my hands, I would at least want to read at my own pace online.

I have considered so many times just uploading the entire novel for each of them. Readers of "Raven & Fox" seem to really enjoy it that way. The only problem is that after subscribers are done, they tend to unsubscribe. That happened with "The Tale of The Butterfly and The Crane," and I lost so many subscribers when it ended. It hurts creators when that happens because our activity numbers drop and our popularity numbers drop. Even with that threat on my ratings, I still want to give my readers and subscribers something akin to their own pace.

  And again, I'm impatient HAHA.

I hope this new scheduling is all right with everyone.

I hope you're enjoying "A Moon For The Mountain" so far!

Part 2 is now completely uploaded and scheduled! It will begin on August 21, with the end of the novel being October 16. Part 1 will end on August 17, so you'll have several days (including the weekend) to catch up on anything you missed.

In previous announcements for Part 2, I had intended for Garson's story to be next and Evie's story to be a Part 3. I changed my mind when I began writing Evie's story for two reasons. Reading their parallel experiences together flowed better, and it is much easier to understand them as characters, as well as appreciate their very different yet similar lives.

It's always a wonderful experience when I write something that just seems to line up all on its own. As I was writing these chapters and dividing them according to their ages (i.e. Garson being 8 in one chapter while Evie is being born in the next), fitting them together provided perfect contrast yet synchronis events.

I have loved everything I have ever written. The characters have always become part of me as I have put a lot of myself into them. I really do cry when I end a story because I become so attached. Among them all, Garson and Evie have really burrowed deeply into my heart, especially Garson. One of Garson's chapters has me crying no matter how many times I read it. I really am in love with this novel and I hope to someday put it, and others, into print.

I hope these updates are to your liking and you continue to enjoy what I post!

Hello, Readers!

Welcome to my occasional chatter. Like the little bees and butterflies and birds that have visited my gardens, you are invited to "listen" to my spontaneous pondering, occasional rants, joyful events, and random gibberish. Feel free to add your own experiences to the topics in the comments.

Is this me procrastinating again? HAHA! We all need breaks when creating becomes somewhat of a chore.

My mind doesn't stop creating, especially when I try to sleep or meditate to calm it. Those efforts seem to increase the speeding train in my head all the more. I have found that speaking on other topics and sharing current feelings not related to my books helps to at least clear my mind enough to slow down the thoughts and give a bit of peace.

Since this is a slice of life, there is no set end. It's for as long as I'm here on Tapas and will update when I feel the need to share what's going on in my world. :)
