Who Killed Lauren ? Part - 9

Who Killed Lauren ? Part - 9

Aug 04, 2022

She closed the door and then she went downstairs to start making breakfast for her daughter. By the time she had finished, Lauren was waking up and she came downstairs, she took her place beside her mom and she hugged her mother tightly. "What are you doing? Where were you?" Lauren asked. "We had a little chat while you were asleep honey." Her mother replied as she kissed Lauren's forehead. "About what?" Lauren wanted to know as she looked at her mom confused. "It's nothing really. Just some small things. Nothing big." "Okay. Is mum still upstairs?" Lauren wondered as her mom nodded. "Is she alright?" Lauren asked in a concerned tone of voice. "Yes she is. It's just that we don't know what happened with her and I'm just hoping that it was not something important that she didn't tell us about." Lauren's mom admitted. "I hope she'll talk to us one day. She needs to talk to us." Lauren responded sadly and she hugged her mom tightly. A couple of hours later they both were getting dressed and waiting for their daughter to join them. Once their daughter arrived downstairs in a pair of jeans and a sweater, they left together to go to school. As soon as they arrived to school, Lauren rushed away from them and ran inside the school. Lauren wasn't very happy with the situation that was happening between her and her mom. When her mom walked towards her class she called her name loudly and her dad followed her to catch up with Lauren who hadn't stopped running. They reached Lauren's class and she opened the classroom door, when Lauren entered, her mom walked in right behind her. They stood in front of Ms. Linton's desk and Mrs. Jackson started her lecture. "Class I want to remind you that today's lesson is going to be different from usual." Ms. Jackson announced. "Ms. Linton, why is everything different today?" Asked a student who asked the question. "Today you guys are going to learn how to make pancakes." Ms. Linton said. "Are you serious? Why didn't I know about that?" One of her students asked surprised. "Well I thought you knew because I taught you last week." Ms. Linton replied. "Wait a minute. How many of our classmates are going to learn how to make pancakes today?" Another student asked. "Only two of you." Ms. Linton replied and they groaned in disappointment. "So, everyone please start making your pancakes." She added and everyone started working to start making pancakes. Half an hour later Ms. Linton finished her class and she gathered the girls to start their own lesson on how to make pancakes. When she gathered the girls they were ready to learn their lesson. "Alright everyone listen carefully and remember what I say." Ms. Linton warned and everyone listened to her closely. After five minutes of teaching, Mr. Adams announced that they should leave for lunch break and everybody gathered their belongings and started heading out of the classroom. Mrs. Jackson had to wait in the classroom as there were still some other lessons to teach and her daughter wanted to help her teacher so she offered her services. "Thank you so much for helping me. You have been a great help to my class, I'll see you tomorrow." Her teacher thanked her happily. "No problem. Have fun with the rest of your classes, mom and dad are staying here for a while and I need to go home. Bye." With that Lauren waved goodbye to her teacher and she turned to look at her parents. "Bye bye sweetie. Let's go home." Her mom waved and they left the classroom. They went home where they ate dinner and then they were about to head back to school but as soon as she got into the car her daughter started asking questions. "How are you mommy? Why didn't you tell me that you were getting married?" Lauren asked her as her mom drove them home. "There was no way that I could've given you that information when we weren't even sure whether this marriage was legal in our state." Their mom explained. "But you're my mom. If you wanted something legal you should've gotten it." Lauren argued back. "Honey please let us explain, there is something that I'd like to share with you and your dad before we tell you anything else." Her mom begged her daughter and Lauren nodded her head. "Alright. We'll go into the study, okay?" The mom asked her and Lauren nodded her head. "I'll put on a movie for us to watch while we wait for you guys." Their mom continued and Lauren nodded again. She grabbed the remote control from her purse, turned on the TV and she set it on the coffee table near to them.

Mark took a few steps back and gazed around at the buildings and stores on the street. He could tell it was late at night by the absence of traffic, the fact that the bulk of shops had their window guards pulled down and secured, and the rows of parked automobiles along the streets.

He said to himself, "Aha, now I know where I am." He recognised the familiar sign of a neighbourhood bar that he frequented as he looked at the neon signs that illuminated the walkway along with the street lights. He smiled as he remembered the sign. On his way home from the metro station, he passed by a convenience store a few of streets away from his apartment building. He wasn't a regular by any means, but he did take a break every now and then after a particularly arduous day on the job. He wasn't the only one. A wide variety of draught beers were available, and the cups were frosted, which enhanced the flavour of each drink.

This particular July evening, the pub's door was pushed open in an attempt to force some ventilation through the stagnant air around the booths and tables, but it failed miserably. Finding an empty seat at the end of the bar was important to him, as he didn't want any company or distractions while he was trying to figure out precisely why he had been out and about so late. That wasn't something he did on a regular basis; he generally went to bed after watching the nightly news.

When he came inside the bar, the bartender didn't even bother to glance at him, so he lifted his arm in an attempt to get his attention.
