I giggled to myself as I walked down the street, smiling from the disappointed look I remembered on that guy when all I would do is kiss him all over. He was totally heartbroken. Or at least severely disappointed. That’s how a lot of those ended though. But it was just so hilarious to see their faces! A guy trying for hours to touch second base just to get rejected is precious. I even made one cry.
As I walked along to get back home, I turned and frowned at this group of kids. They were messing around on the playground in the dead of night doing stupid shit. Two girls were in the middle, arms around each other to keep upright while laughing and drinking something. It didn’t take a genius to know what it was. One girl was passed out in the slide, and the other two were sitting on the swings.
Another case of stupid kids screwing around with being drunk. They don’t know what it actually does to them. I glanced for a second to see one of the drunk ones with the bottle in her hand and froze. She was wearing a familiar shirt that said “Wild Girl!” on it.
“Sophie?!” I exclaimed, causing the four conscious girls to turn and stare at me. Sophie’s face was kinda red and she didn’t look all too with it.
“You know this bitch, Sophs?” the other blackout drunk one asked. Sophie laughed and narrowed her eyes.
“Uncle Jack?” she asked with a smile. I grabbed her arm and ripped the bottle out of her hand. She put up a fight, but she was left weak after all the drinking.
“Don’t screw with alcohol,” I growled, throwing the bottle in an empty parking lot and watching it shatter. “I’m taking you home.”
“No!” Sophie screamed, trying to rip herself away. “Mom’s gonna freak! Ben too!” Oh wow she really wasn’t worried about Kevin though.
“You should’ve thought about that before you let your friends get you blackout drunk.”
“I’m not!” To prove her point, she finally ripped her arm out of my grasp. Unfortunately, she would’ve stumbled into oncoming traffic if I hadn’t yanked her back again.
“The party’s over.”
“No! Not yet! A few more hours and I’ll do whatever you want!”
“Talk like that is why I can’t let you walk out freely.”
“You get to party all night! I want to be like you, Aunt Bella!”
“Be like me when you can be a responsible girl,” I said coldly. “Not one who’s out getting lit so her poor mother wonders where her little girl’s gone when morning comes and you’re in a back alley dumpster.”
“I’m coming too,” said a girl with dyed red hair. She leapt off of her swing and to Sophie’s side. It was like she couldn’t have waited any longer to leave. “Fi is my best friend, and I want to make sure she gets home safe. I’ll even explain what happened. It wasn’t her fault!”
“Knowing my sister, I hope you’re right,” I sighed grimly. “Diane is not going to like this.”
