My mother came out of the car looking concerned for Jessica. “Are you okay? I wanted to give you guys some space. But, you were crying and I just couldn’t sit there and watch any longer.” “I’m fine.” She sniffed. Her nose was starting to run. My mother brought out some tissue from her purse. “Here.” Jessica wiped her face and started to calm down. Her eyes were slightly swollen from crying so hard. “Let’s have lunch together. Just the three of us if that’s okay with you?” “Yeah, it is.” That’s how out day went from a rocky start to an amazing afternoon. And when I say amazing I mean amazing. We talked about our plans for the future. It was nice hearing what she wanted as a career and more. When we finally got home I texted my friends I had a girlfriend and explained my bisexuality. Thankfully they were all accepting. And with that the summer sped by fast.
Summer vacation was over and it was time to head home. We finished packing up everything and hauling it out to the car. I found out we were both going to the same college. We planned to meet up there and maybe end up as roommates. The opportunity was filled with promise. Now we were still going to be together, no long distance. There’s one thing that ran through my mind, but it filled me with comfort. This wasn’t the end of our story, this was just the beginning.
