" Hey. Are you okay? " The mystery figure says, reaching out their hand towards me. I grab hold, lifting myself and my belongings. " You seem pretty banged up. What happened? " They say. " My Castle got rushed by a riot led by civilians. I'm the Acting Queen of Geode Castle. " I respond. " I didn't catch your name either, what is it? " They say. " Melanie. Melanie Krystal. " I say extending my arm for a handshake. " Oh, Me? I'm Riley, a civilian in this town, and the princess's best friend " She says, shaking my hand " Let me show you around! " She casts a bubble spell around my head to help me breathe underwater and we start swimming into the underwater city. After a while of swimming, she leads me around the town, showing me the city hall, the neighborhoods, markets, and such. " Hey, aren't you a princess? " They asked. " Yeah " I'd answer " You should meet the princess, Aurora! You can't return home anyways, right? I'll ask her if you can stay there! " She said excitedly " Uhhh...Sure! You're her best friend so what's the worst that could happen? "

Riley walked me over to the palace and explained to the guards our reason for entrance and we went to the princess Aurora. I'll admit, I was kinda nervous but It was my only choice.

" Heyy! Aurora! " She waved over to Aurora. "Hey, Riley- Who's this? " She looked over to me " Hello. I'm Melanie from the planet of Geodes. Your friend Riley said I could stay in the castle since my planet is in ruins currently.."

"..I'll ask my fathers. " Her voice was sort of harsh

She swam away, giving me a side-eyed glare

" Yeah, she can be a little harsh. She doesn't exactly trust everyone if I'm gonna be honest " Riley said, looking over at me

5 MINUTES LATER

Aurora Returned " We have a guest room and some medical treatment for you. You're welcome to stay for the night and then we can arrange something for you " " Thank you, Ms. Ren " I'd curtsy as Aurora walked away

Riley shows me to my room and shows me where she's staying if I have questions

I was served dinner and my wounds were treated around 10 o'clock I was headed to my room when I passed by the family portraits, seeing something odd with portraits and Aurora, she's never..happy? In all of them, she's in the back or just sad..?

I didn't question it and went to bed when suddenly...BOOM!

I look out the window to find another riot " Did they follow me? " I run outside to find that Aurora is pacing and mutters something under her breathe, looks over to me, and runs to her room

I knock on Riley's door and ask her what's the riot doing. " Aurora is half sire and there's an ongoing war between mermaids like me and sirens like her. The town doesn't want a siren as queen. They won't stop at anything and do this every night. " " What?! What do you mean won't stop at anything? " " They're trying to kill Aurora, Melanie. "
