A Collection Of Poems And Short Stories

What We Forget.

What We Forget.

Aug 08, 2022

We always forget.
We will forget faces.
We will forget names.
We will forget people.
We are human.

We always forget.
We will forget the faces we swore we'd look upon every day.
We will forget the names of people we held so close to our hearts.
We will forget the people who we never thought we'd lose.
We are human.

We always forget.
We will always forget the faces we swore we'd look upon every day, faces that were burned into our memories like pictures faded into the screens of our CRT minds.
We will always forget the names of people we held so close to our hearts that it burned to speak them, it burned with love and passion.
We will always forget the people who we never thought we'd lose because they were engraved into the canvases of our lives.
We are human.

We always forget.
We will always forget the faces we swore we'd look upon every day, faced that we burned into our memories like pictures faded into the screens of our CRT minds, faces that we'd look upon and feel safe and secure in our futures with those faces appearing in every picture and moment captured in 4k video from phones and cameras caked in dust, only taken out when friends and family conjoin in those rare moments that must be immortalized in pixels upon screens that will eventually never be looked at again.
We will always forget the names of people we held so close to our hearts that it burned to speak them, it burned with love and passion, it burned so hot and so bright we'd have to avert our eyes but looking into this love would always blind us to the future where we are without this feeling and like a flame it burns so hot that we forget that once it's out that heat is lost forever.
We will always forget the people who we never thought we'd lose because they were engraved into the canvases of our lives but as every painting is born onto pages it fades into history and eventually the heart that we put into paint and that paint we put into pictures will be lost and though scholars of our love might look back and see the art that once was, the feeling behind it will be buried in dirt and sand across oceans and lives.
We are human.

I will always forget.
I will always forget your face, though it burned my mind and heart for so long.
I will always forget your name, though it sat on my tongue with tastes so sweet and bold.
I will always forget you, though you danced with my heart and sang with my soul.
I am human, just like you. I will never forget you, but I am afraid I already have.
