I’ve been a silent reader for 2 years because I never know what to say, but I wanted you to know this:
This story has such a huge place in my heart. When I started reading Soft Touch, I fell in love with the characters and the story and the beautiful writing, but its become so much more than that.
I’ve felt out of place since I was a kid, figured out I was trans at 15, but I was so scared and so ashamed. I didn’t think that that was something I was allowed to be, so I pushed it down and lost myself in the process.
Two years ago, I finally started trying to accept myself, and this story came into my life at the perfect time. You showed me that I could be quiet like Aiden, passionate like Jamie, crazy like Noah, angry like Ralph- and that that was all okay.
But mostly, you showed me through scenes of Gabby facing her past that I wasn’t alone, and through moments of seeing Ripley so loved, that maybe I could find that too, some day.
You gave me hope, which I haven’t had in a very long time. I started Testosterone last month after being terrified for over a decade.
I know its going to be a long road, but, like Gabby, I know I’ll get there… one day.
Oh, and I finally chose my new name, that represents who I am and everything I want to be: Jamie
Jamie, a softy who likes to grumble, is reeling from a stunning event in his small town. On top of everything else, his high school enemy Aiden Callahan is moving back home. The two haven't seen each other in years, but Jamie can tell that Aiden is keeping his own secrets - and that something about him is different.
