Dear Journal,
Things have settled down now. We’re moving to guard more peaceful territory. The place looks untouched. You wouldn’t know a war was happening just a country or two over. (I’ve never been great at geography. My apologies for the general inaccuracy.)
The people here are so happy. They smile at us. They call us heroes, and I feel like one. Bryce, on the other hand, looks like one. He’s grown more muscular over time. His eyes remind me of the sky. They pair so well with his smile, like a pleasant baby blue with just the right amount of clouds. Other times, the occasions that are far and few in between, the times when he’s angry or feeling particularly intense about something, they darken and shift like the sea in a hurricane.
We’ve all got a lot more down time at the moment. For some reason, one that the heavens only know, Bryce chooses to spend that extra time with me. I couldn’t dream of a better pastime.
I smile the widest when I’m with him. I laugh my hardest. I am my best when I’m with him. I only hope to do the same.
-Adrian
