The school bell rang in my ears, causing a migraine. The blonde hair twins staring me down, the black Lolita dresses throwing me off. White lace tickled their neck, pigtails sitting on either side of their heads. Everyone swarmed them, the attitude in the school beginning to turn against us. Rage seethed in my eyes, the two of them drinking another person’s blood everyday that had passed on school grounds. Cold sweat dripped off of my brow, Dean was doing business at home in Hell, leaving me on my own. Gripping the hem of my red leather skirt, my black blouse fluttered in the breeze. Taking notes for the both of us barely distracted me from his scent in his jacket that I wore that day, the demon in me wanting my mate back in my life. It was lunch, the worst period of the day. Leaping to my feet, the twins blocked my way. Trying to go under them, nothing worked. Poking my forehead, my feet stumbled back. Immense strength was behind that one touch, a chill shot up my spine. Having enough of the day, I leapt out of the window. Horror widened my eyes, everyone glaring at me with glazed over eyes. Silver weapons spun in their palms, my boots pounding against the cracked pavement towards the exit. A wall of students blocked me on either side, the no fighting rule clearly not standing.
“If I fight you, will you release them from your spells.” I offered pathetically, way too tired for this shit. “I will do that right now.” The students dropped to the ground, the knowledge of me probably failing this fight rather present in my mind. A black shadow forced me out of the safe zone, black vines curling around my arm. My scythe slid into my arms, Babble charging at me first. Claws grew from her fingers, the bony enamel scraping against my blade. Sliding me back, Bubbles shoved her claws through my stomach. Blood rained all over Babble’s face, as her sister ripped out her claws. Licking the blood off of her face, I shuddered. Hot blood poured onto the ground, my vision blurring slightly. They needed to be separated in order for this to work, mouthing a spell. A black vine maze popped up around us, the twins protesting as I sprinted away from them. A single set of footfalls echoed behind me, Babble lunging at me with a black curved blade. Sparks floated around as our blades smashed together, her green eyes turning black.
“Just die already.” She growled through gritted teeth, my foot slamming into her stomach. “I refuse to stand down.” Cocking my brow, a snarl curled on my lips. Sadness dimmed her eyes, my vines curling around her body.
“Did they kill your parents?” I queried curiously, a sigh tumbling from my lips. Her sister launched herself over the top of my maze, the wet sound of her sliding down my blade nauseating me. Squirming around, Babble’s eyes avoided mine.
“So what if they did!” She blurted out bitterly, her voice cracking. “They probably deserved it.” The vines tightened around her, a thought flashed in my head. Sauntering up to her, a blue chip flashed in her neck. Digging into her neck, a small chip moved around by itself. Grasping the damn device, I tossed it to the ground. Stomping on the damn thing, blue electricity crackled one last time.
“Do you think that they have the right to own you then?” I questioned Bubbles specifically, shaking her off of my blade. “I think that we can grant your freedom. You can’t like killing your own.” Her lips parted in protest, a couple of hunters aiming for the twins. Leaping in front of them, the silver stakes in their hands slammed into my shoulders. Ripping them out, horror widened the black masks hunters’ eyes. Their black robe danced in the breeze, a nail getting shoved into my maze. A sharp gasp escaped my lips, the maze decaying to nothing. Blood poured from my nose and everywhere else, the twins standing up behind me.
“You have one second to leave, or we will have to kill you.” Bubbles threatened coldly, her wound sealing shut. “What will your choice be?” Tears welled up in my eyes, my enemy was standing up for me. The hunters cocked their heads, a deep voice rumbling behind them.
“If that is how you want it, then you will be labeled as enemies to us.” A seven foot tall vampire walked out from the shadows, his red eyes glowing in my direction. “If it isn’t the princess of Hell, I was the reason Dean is busy today. How is it being alone?” Floating over to me, his black claw traced my cheek.
“I will defend the twins until the end of my life.” I warned hotly, slapping his hands away. “What did they do to you? Oh wait, you are the first man made vampire. You owe no allegiance to anyone, so why would you care?” Growls rumbled from his throat, his white scythe hanging over his shoulders. Spinning it around in his palms, he raised it to the offensive position.
“How about this deal then?” He suggested confidently, darkness oozing from his voice. “We have a duel of some sorts? If you can cut me once, I will join your side. I only work with people as powerful as me.” Rolling my eyes, a sneer darkened his face.
“Is that a promise?” I queried playfully, a warm smile brightening my face. “I promise to cut you once. Settle down girls, I got this.” Ignoring the pain burning in my stomach, they protested to no reward. Stepping back a few feet, we waited for the signal. A thumbs up signaled the beginning for the duel, his frame sprinting at me. Cold sweat dripped off of my brow, his speed three times as fast as mine. The breath got knocked out of me as his body slammed into mine, my boot shoving him off. Clearly running wouldn’t be an option, my body shaking as I raised my scythe. The shoulder wounds weren’t healing at all, my body protesting as I could barely block his attacks. My vines curled around his ankles, surprise widening his eyes. Shaking them off, my powers were weakening, panic setting in my mind. If I was going to do something, I needed to do it now. Surprise widened my eyes, his scythe sticking out of my chest.
“Black vines of Hell, curl around him. Blossoms of Death grow.” I wheezed, coughing up blood. “Red lilies devour his powers and give them to me.” Black vines shot up from the ground, red lilies blooming all along the vines. Confusion twisted his face, his power transferring into me. Screams of pain exploded from my lips, his raw power burning me up from the inside. My skin cracked, his scythe shrinking as mine doubled in size. Hatred raged inside of me, both of my eyes going black. Dark desires fought with my wholesome goals, the desire to burn the world down trying to win over my mind. Ripping out his scythe, fresh blood covered his face. Swinging my blade down at him, his arm dropped to the ground with a small thud. Tears streamed down my face, the face of an ordinary man flashing in my face. A yellow liquid glittered in a bright light, the needle sinking into the nape of his neck. Howls of pain exploded from my lips, his power draining from me. My scythe faded away, my body collapsing to my knees. Coughing up blood, a cold breeze lashed my bare skin. The dead eyes of the hunters haunted me, the seven foot vampire sucking them dry. Black blood dripped from where his arm once was, his mask rolling to my feet. Terror widened my eyes, half of his face was gray and frozen in the state before decay while the other half was pale and beautiful. Black silky hair cascaded down his back, him kneeling to his knees.
“You have my loyalty. I promise as my name is Thomas Kener.” He admitted proudly, my body twitching. “I have never seen such power. Let’s take you to Dean.” My lips parted in protest, both of us paling beyond our natural ghostliness as Dean towered over us. Picking up Thomas by the throat, he slammed him into the nearby brick wall. Tugging on his pants, my eyes were still black. The piece of him that remained in me was screaming for me to protect him, Dean slapping my hand away. Tears streamed down my cheeks, anger festering in my black eyes. Knocking Dean to the ground, fright widened his eyes. Claws grew from my fingernails, the hunger for his blood driving me insane. The two sides of my mind were battling each other, Dean’s lips pressing against mine fervently. My fangs grew over his lips, the flesh of lips popping. Gasps of wonder exploded from his lips, black wings unfurling from where Thomas stabbed me. Black feathers floating aimlessly, Dean shoving me off of him. Black horns curled around my head, my body quaking with fear. The inky blackness faded away, my eyes falling on Dean. Folding my wings away, my horns still remained. Panic raced through my mind, Dean wrapping my arm around my waist. Snapping his fingers, the school faded away to our home in Hell. Beginning to sway, he clutched me close to his chest. His father rushed to his side, the white hair of my uncle catching my eyes. Concern flashed in all of their eyes, the corner of my lips quivering as teardrops soaked his black jacket.
“She is fully awakened.” Uncle Rose uttered numbly, inky blackness dyed my left eye. “She won’t fit in upstairs anymore. The horns won’t go away, or her left eye won’t go back to normal.” Their voices faded in and out, fingers snapping in my face. Dean’s copper eyes stared into mine, cold sweat soaking my skin. What remained of my clothes clung to my skin, whether it was the blood or the sweat. My lips parted to speak, the dryness in my throat stopping me.
“Quick, she is bleeding out.” Dean cried out, a needle with white milky liquid shimmering in his hand. Jamming it into my neck, everything blurred. Reaching for Dean, my arm fell to my side. Black energy hovered over me, my wounds sealing shut. Something wasn’t allowing me to sleep, the pure agony of my tissue fusing together caused howls of pain to explode from my lips. Please be over soon, I pleaded to myself. A black figure hovered in the corner, my father’s face smiling over at me. Nausea wracked my body, his horns curling around his head. Red glowing eyes glared over at me, time freezing around us.
“I am what’s left of your father. It appears my side has awakened in you.” He growled through gritted teeth, his black hand grabbing mine. One touch of his finger sent inky blackness through my veins, thrashing around the straps holding me down snapped. This can’t be him, I thought to myself as I sprinted down the hall. Every nerve of my body was screaming in pain, claws growing from my nails. A fever burned at my cheeks, the vision in my left eye turning red. Shaking my head, my parents’ room was just to my right. Crashing into the room, Dean slammed his body into mine. Clutching me close to his chest, my claws dug into his back.
“Come back, my lily.” He pleaded desperately, tears flooding from his eyes. “I need you in my life. Your wounds are opening again.” Curling my lips into snarl, my fangs sank into his neck. The taste of his blood calmed me down, sweet slumber winning me over.
