Garvin's Point of View
*door opens*
Looking inside a room, 2 beds and loads of books on the shelves and some tables with the windows and curtains not opened yet. "Found her yet, kid?"
Arlan's searching the living room, helping me on the elimination process of rooms that are to be searched. "No, father"
Closing the door of his room, i meet up again with Arlan, continuing the search. " *sighs* OK, we'll keep on searching. I'm not fond of the uneasiness that something might have happened while i'm not around"
(Tsk, there goes two more from the checklist). We've searched throughout the house from the living room, Arlan's, the bath's, Mine and Fiona's bedroom.
Calling out her name doesn't give any response, but what's more worrying is that it also applies to Elena.
(Silence comences at this time of a day, and the only answer i can think off is that they're on their periods... Which isn't plausible, with my nose not sensing any odd smells like blood and body odors)
Minutes have passed and knowing that i'll be late doesn't put me at ease but, i can't leave knowing something's wrong with her today.
With that in mind, we're closing in on Elena's room and i noticed that there are thin lights coming out of the door. (Seldom of her to forget turning off the lights at this time of day, our housrmaid. I'll need to ask her if she knew of Fiona's whereabo-)
" (faint) *sobs* You... Can't be... *sniffs* The only one..."
" (faint) Now, now, i'm here whenever you need me be, Miss Fiona"
Hearing their voices behind the door, and Fiona's weeping, i know by now that it's something not easy to put off. (! Why's she crying? Is she perhaps by any chance informed of our first one, that she could be... No, neither of us knows for sure. So what's the matter?)
Trying not to alert them since our kid is here, i whisper Arlan of what he shouldn't do at the current moment. " (low-voice) Kid, try not to raise your voice!
From the sound of it, your mother's not feeling well today.
I'm going in first.
You can have a little peep but don't barge in!
Until i give you the 'okay' to come in, again, do not get in!
Got it?"
He gestures the 'OK' sign on his fingers. " (low-voice) Got it"
Peaking the door a little, looking over him. "Alright, wish me luck!"
*door creaks*
Peaking behind the door of Elena's room, which used to be our first one's, it reminisces me of the old days.
Shrowded in dark yellow light, the work table on my left have a mirror on it's front. It used to be filled with pages of papers when i came in is that her either taking notes of her discoveries, or her just being late to do her homeworks on time.
Now, it's replaced with Elena's cosmetics, and i can't help but be saddened that she too will leave from this house one day at the future.
(Our kid'll be lonely, and he's got no friends with our house being this far from any settlements. Can't help but grieve over the fact that we can't just sell the house and move onto the city, at least for now)
On the right, her wardrobe with the front that used to be plastered with posters of Adventurers and Guardians, is now gone.
Sometimes when i put clothes that our first one adores but can't buy, i always got myself a tight hug and her saying 'I Love You, Dad!'.
(Aah, wonder when she'll drop by?)
The lights above is shut, but the night desk lamps near the bed is still on. There, sits Elena on a chair, overlooking the bed that Fiona's laying on.
(Oh, No!). I walk towards her with my feet trying it's best not to make loud sound.
I tap her back, imploring her of what's happening currently. " (low-voice) Elena? You busy? Can i go in?"
Looking over her shoulders, eyes widened, eyebrows furrowed. " (low-voice) Sir Garvin!
I'm just consoling Miss Fiona over here, you're welcome to come in!". Elena's holding Fiona's hands, comforting her on the bed.
I go on taking a chair from the nearest, then i noticed Arlan's peeking.
Picking one up, i sway a little to the exit. " (low-voice) Don't come in yet, until i say so.
Don't forget that"
Concerned, he's only able to stand behind the door, peaking at us. " (low-voice) ... Okay"
Putting it down, i sit down as i analyze Fiona's condition. " (low-voice) So, what happened?"
" (low-voice) I, Don't Know, Sir.
When i finished bathing Young Master Arlan, i noticed that the door to the living room is opened and i heard Fiona's voice, crying about something"
Hearing her explanation,i can't help but hold my chin and shut my eyes, thinking why this is. (... Fiona is a lady that can control her emotions most of the time, but there are several instances where sometimes she snaps or breaks.
And in this case...)
Glancing at Elena, striking the one question i had in mind. " (low-voice) What was it that she cried about when you encountered her?"
She stares at Fiona for a moment, before facing me. " (low-voice) I... think it's, the one point in history that changed the world, the one that we will never be able to forget"
The respond she gave just now is not the kind of answer that i am expecting. " (low-voice) Elena. I Asked, on what she cried about when you were with her"
Staring for some seconds, before breaking the contact first, heads down. " (low-voice)... Along the lines i know of, it has her being 'One of the ones that caused all the screams and sufferings. One of the ones that caused it all to happen' "
(Wait, there's only one time that i saw how she acts out exactly like this!
Oh no, could it be?!
I'll have to confirm this)
I cover my mouth as to whisper to her. " (low-voice) So you're saying that she's-"
Mimicking me, she interrupts. " (low-voice) -reminded of the 'incident' again. I'm sure of it, Sir".
After knowing what's up, i put my head at rest on my hands. (! The 'incident' ?! As in, 'that' incident?!
Ah heck, it won't be easy making her wake up to reality.
Most of the time when this happens, she'll be mumbling things for even one whole day!)
Breaking out of the posture, feeling defeated of not being able to help her immediately. " (low-voice) ... Tch. How come has this happened?"
Elena scratches her neck, looking at Fiona. " (low-voice) ... Well... i guess it's my fault..."
(... HUH?!). At that Very moment, i feel the urge to Slap her for being the 'Cause' of my Beloved Wife's trauma triggering by my right hand, in which i clenches into a fist.
At the other hand, i know that i can't just be jumping to conclusion just because she said it herself, and hold the right as to make it not make her be troubled of living with us. (Whoa, there! I almost thought of slapping her just now.
Calm down, Me. Remain Composed. Don't let your anger get the better of you, Garv!)
Successing in holding back my fury, i heave out a breath of exasperation. ( *Sighs Heavily* Elena is new to this job so of course there are mistakes to be made.
For now, i'll ask her how it is her fault to begin with)
Shifting my body to face her directly, i grasp my hand to hold my head as it stares at the floor. " (low-voice) Alright, then. Explain how it's your fault to begin with"
Frantically tip-tapping her feets, she could be feeling pressured because of this. " (low-voice) W-when i'm in the bath with Young Master, he suddenly asked about Aeon and after explaining most of the known things about it... and then... "
I stick my body closer to her. " (low-voice) Yes?"
She covers her mouth, whispering. "... (low-voice) He asked about the Dragon-Taming Device"
Taken aback, i facepalm as i think on how outrageous it possibly is. ( . . . What the hell?!
That's one of the most nation-kept secret of which existence not even most of my co-workers from outside Ytris knew about!
I don't remember keeping any logs about that very 'incident' in the house, physically and digitally so how does a kid like him know of it?!
Then again, could he know the password to my tablet and curiously took a search?
But i swear that i always keep a close eye to it so... Damnit, i can't figure this out!)
Glancing at the door, it's a little closed than when i opened it. (He's peeping now, isn't he?
What should i do in this situation?
Should i ask him to come out and ask him?
But, he's only 4 years old so it can't be his fault, right?)
Switching at the other direction towards Elena the housemaid, then to Fiona the housewife. (Elena did say it's her fault after all but, then again Arlan is the one who asked about it first.
... Agh, sorry kid but, for the sake of your mother i'll have to force you in)
Towards the door, i raises my voice. "Arlan Gritt. Come In" As any parents that will be teaching their kids a lesson, stating their full name is always in mind first.
Creaking, the door then opens, revealing the peaking boy that is the next subject. " (meak) . . . Yes, father... "
Elena, confused on why he is eavesdropping at us. " (low-voice) What? Young Master Arlan? Why is he-"
Not waiting for her to complete her sentence, i crouch down as he is now in front of us. "So, Arlan, care to tell us what you know about the thing you've talked about with Elena?"
Panicking, he holds his hand, heads down. "I-"
Frankly, out of patience, i only let out my stoic accent before he even start speaking. "In the Living Room, With Me". I stand up, heading towards the exit.
". . . Yes"
" (low-voice) Please don't be too harsh with him, Sir Garvin! He's just a kid and it's my fault!"
As i look at her, her face is concerned for Arlan after Fiona, trying to reason with me to make sure i'm not dealing it out with him as severe as possible. (Goddamnit, you reminded me of our first one, having their maternal instinct activated on their younger acquaintances and always try to protect them whenever possible)
As i wait for Arlan at the door, i hold him on one of his shoulders. "I won't do cruel things to my own child, but i will have him Confess Everything Out.
Don't Protect Him Any Further. That's an order". Giving a cold stare, i want her to know that what i am saying is to be absolute.
"I... yes, Sir Garvin". Clenching her hand just right on the left side of her chests, she's hurt on the inside not being able to do anything on this one private matter.
"Alright, i'm off. Take care of Fiona.
Now, let's go, Arlan"
Exiting the room, he looks behind at them. "... Yes, father"
*door closes*
. . .
At the living room, we sit at one of the table that was mostly used for light coffee talk. 6 seats circling a table, and all of them are woods.
Firstly, i ask him whether he knows of Aeon from all my gadgets. 'Yes', he said, as expected.
Secondly, if he knows that mother is near the bathroom. 'No', he said, making Fiona as the suspect of being the one engaging it the first.
Thirdly, i ask him of how he knows the Dragon-Taming Device that is now basically one of the sentences you should not say in this world. 'An Experience', he said, not up to my expectation.
Fidgeting my hair, i stare at him head on. "So you're saying that it's a dream of yours?"
The kid glances left and right after, maybe fearing of him being disrespectful after what happened to his own mother.
Stopping his frantic eye movements, he then stares at me sincerely. "... Well, not just a dream but... more like a memory.
It feels surreal.
So much so that, i can actually feel the horror and pain from the things that happened inside"
Hearing him saying some words that is not supposed to be heard by kids his age, i hold my chin as i frown on the few words he just spoke. (Surreal? Horror? Pain? Where the heck did he learned of these vocabularies? I never read any words that closely resembles them back then, let alone the words themselves.
All the books i had around here is mostfully Fairytales, Cheerful and Bright stuffs, so could it be him imploring Elena on grabbing the books on the upper shelves? Ah, could be, but later for that.
I'm not so sure how our kid is able to make out some sense from a lucid dream or whatever, but from the way i monitored his body with my eyes i'm very sure that he's not lying and what's more is that he gives off a sorrowful vibe with his voice)
Opening my eyes, i open my mouth. "Hmm... Interesting. Can you tell me in further details?"
He tilts his body to the sides before stopping. "Yes. It started with me being up in the sky riding a 'tamed' wyvern named Erzen"
I lift my eyebrows, again, hearing an answer that is unexpected. "Wait wait wait, You WHAT?"
"What i said, father, is that it started with me seeing the sky above the clouds". He pouts, looking like he wants to get this over with.
Showing my palms towards him, signaling him to go on with the story. "Alright, alright, Go Ahead"
"Continuing after that is knowing myself as Sieg, who i am in the dream, wearing some kind of prototype suit that stares at the scenery around him suddenly got a call from his Commanding Officer, Sir Bannifer, and he goes on talking about . . .". He talks on and on, describing the little minute details of what he 'Experienced' in his 'Dream'.
