Secrets of the Arcane: Julien's Awakening

Body Training and the Regression

Body Training and the Regression

Aug 14, 2022

"Master, I have another question," Julien said, raising his right hand.

Vel'Krim frowned but replied, "Go ahead."

"What is Arcane's Great Regression?"

"As it implies, there is a regression in Arcane; many experts died out, large organizations crumbled, schools were decimated, and governments were devastated,"

"A rumor arises that some organization or individual does it on purpose, as though they are purifying the Arcane universe; the War is said to have begun as a result of this,"

"As a result of the battle, many artifacts and skills were lost and forgotten. I also addressed the power imbalance, correct?"

Julien gave a nod.

“The strong consume the weak, and the fittest survive; these have always been the universe's rules. Everyone has self-aspiration and is always striving to seize possibilities.”

"Some manage to maintain precious techniques and treasures, and those who are now the pioneers of the current generation," he continues,"

"The Regression occurred, but it did not halt the development of new Arcane spells or the creation of new treasures."

Julien then nodded and bowed, saying, "Master, you are wise, thank you."

"Stop leeching me, you damn bastard!" shouts Vel'Krims, hand-chopping Julien's head.

After that, Vel'Krim detailed the first step in developing Julien's body.

    …

At the same time.

A pretty woman stands at the top of a mountain somewhere in the other world, on a stunning island with trees that tower hundreds of meters above the ground. A great fire blossom tree is rooted on the rock, and its beautiful scarlet leaves flutter in the air.

The twisted roots of the tree on the cliff look to have been purposely arranged that way.

The mountain top has been flattened, and a half-completed golden ship can be seen. The ship, which can carry a million people, is perched at the summit of the mountain.

The sunshine filtered through the overlapping tree leaves and shone down on Freya's face, causing her skin to reflect light like white snow and revealing a type of translucent rosy blush and tenderness on her face.

Freya, who is constructing this ship, recalls a scene from her past.

There were placed within a vast conference room, which has an archaic vibe to it and is softly illuminated. A huge round table is in the center, and several individuals are conversing with one another.

The Emperor, who is sitting next to him, is strategizing with his trusted minions. "I intend to get rid of all those scums," the Emperor said. "You should all know by now that almost every organization permits a corrupt branch to join their ranks."

The Emperor pounded his fist on the table and shouted, "That indicates they openly condone horrific deeds. They even convince the people that what they are doing is ethically right, and if you disagree, you will be sacked."

"This is ridiculous, and they have even declared war on nations who disagree with them."

The first step in corrupting any organization is to undermine its leaders through corruption. Then they'll create a new system, fashioned after their philosophy, and make it the conventional way of life.

"We know the Pendulum is at the root of everything. They even infiltrated local faiths and groups in order to impose their Evil Arcane."

Freya, who is seated alongside the Emperor, clutches his wrist. They look each other in the eyes and comprehend what each other is expressing.

"The Dragons are making their move," Freya stated, "They want us to bow down to their might and by utilizing the Dark Arts and Evil paths to get people to follow them." These people who use these techniques will be misled by their justifications and blindly follow the dragons."

"Reshen and Goalkee, those two Lizards are the cause of this; they are the curse of this realm, the parasites that are slowly eating away the future," the Emperor added.

"Dragons are concerned about the fact that humans may now kill them even though we know they are evil and have long been the top predator."

The blue-scarred guy in a black robe interrupted, "The issue is that they have already infiltrated practically all of the organizations. We are aware that some individuals are still resisting, but how long will they last? Because they are terrified of persecution, others are seeking safety in our world,"

"Despite their claims that the Pendulum is an evil organization, they nonetheless permit its Evil branch to function. Take a look at how they brazenly control the populace!"

    ...

Freya, who can still recall the past as if it were yesterday, jolted out of her reverie. She turns around and peers up into the massive vessel she is constructing.

The ship appears to be a sacred vessel when the light beams upon it. Birds flit about it, giving it a more magnificent appearance.

She said, "I wonder if I can finish this in the next century," and lifted her left arm as she sang a powerful Arcane summons;

"Arculius, you hammer the kingdoms and mountains, call your warriors, and take my heed."

The surrounding mana trembles and concentrates into one spot as she completes her incantation. There is a buzzing sound all around.

A large summoning circle with a hammer in the middle forms in the sky, followed by the descent of hundreds of golden golems with thorns on their shoulders.

Freya approaches while smiling.

    ...

Vel'Krim summoned a projection of a human diagram with a wave of his hand, and in the diagram, there were three portions that stated "BODY," "SOUL," and "SPIRIT."

Vel'Krim highlighted the first section, which is the diagram's outer edge.

He began with these remarks in a raspy voice. "Your body is the home of your soul and spirit," Vel'Krim said, and Julien nodded in agreement.

"Basically, we need to prepare your body to carry enormous strength," Vel'Krim remarked, smiling. "Is it right that, like other vessels, it has to be adequately reinforced in order to be efficient?"

"Yes, master," Julien said. Julien, on the other hand, already knows this information through his memories as a result of the first awakened memory.

"As I mentioned earlier, to house great power, you need a solid foundation, and like any other construct, a strong foundation will decide if it can take the load and weight of pressure, or in other words, the mana,"

"Like a water dam, the walls around it should be strengthened with sturdy walls."

He then pointed to the diagram's second layer, which says "Soul."

"Your Soul contains your 'Mana Base' which is where you store, draw, and enhance your strength."

"The degree of your mana base is determined by how much energy you can consume as well as the power you can release."

"Your Soul is also where the mana is filtered," he says, "And the stronger your soul, the purer your mana could be."

"There are three levels of mana purity," Vel'Krim said, raising his three fingers.

"That is Bronze, silver, and Gold. Isn't it simple to remember?"

Julien nodded once more and asked a question. "Master, what is this mana purity? Is it possible that I won't be able to utilize Arcane until I have that amount of purity?"

"Good question!" remarked Vel'Krim, nodding.

“Mana purity is secondary, yet it is crucial in several ways, as I will explain.”

To begin, you may still use Arcane without pure mana. Regardless of its form or purity, mana as a whole is a source of power. However, if your soul contains much purer mana, you may pull greater power from it. Consider it to be an amplifier.

"There are some advantages to having purer mana. For example, if I cast a standard fireball, I will draw 100 percent of the power from my soul; but, if I have bronze purity, the strength that it can unleash will increase to 120 percent!"

"So there are certain advantages to having it, and again, this is something that not everyone has; even some prominent individuals from the past do not have it. It's more of a gift, but the prerequisite is that you have a strong Soul."

"I merely have Bronze purity, which is already uncommon." Vel'Krim exclaimed triumphantly.

Julien grinned and clapped, saying sarcastically, "Wow master is formidable."

Vel'Krim's veins protruded, allowing him to create a hand behind Julien's head and slap it.

"Ouch!" Julien said, rubbing his brow and moaning.

Vel'Krim ignores him and continues, "Other bonuses of having a mana purity is that you may utilize Arcane that has a prerequisite of possessing it. Those are uncommon techniques and cannot just be read in any Arcane library. It was so rare that even in your lifetime you cannot encounter it and of course, it is expensive or sometimes priceless depending on its origin,"

"If you have more pure mana, you can train on a specific Arcane Set,"

"We will not discuss it further for the time being. Let us now go on to the last one."

He directed his finger to the diagram's center.

"The most crucial of the three is your Spirit. Your consciousness is in the Spirit. Everything is here: your ideas, willpower, conscience, good or evil,"

"This is also where your Spirit Core is located. Your Spirit Core is your "identity," and it determines your Path as well as your overall strength level,"

Vel paused, letting Julien absorb everything he just said.

"So, to simplify things for you, imagine you are a machine, such as a car. The chassis represents your body, the fuel represents your soul, and the spirit represents the engine,"

"The engine is the most significant component since it is responsible for making the automobile go and move."
