IvyClay: Welcome Dearest Readers! Today is August 19th and Darryl’s birthday! Today we will be sitting down with him and asking him some fun questions!
Darryl: [swivels awkwardly on his stool] Ummm okaay… Who are you talking to?
IvyClay: Never you mind that. Today’s quite special, turning 19 on the 19th! Do you have any plans?
Darryl: Not much, we were going to head into town for ice-cream. I’ll probably get butter pecan with a butterscotch drizzle.
IvyClay: An old classic. What are some of your other favorite foods?
Darryl: Breakfast.
IvyClay: Care to elaborate?
Darryl: Anything Sara serves?
IvyClay: Okay, I guess we will have to ask her what she usually cooks later. If your entire wardrobe was one color, what would it be?
Darryl: Blue. Maybe the brighter dark hues?
IvyClay: Like aquamarine?
Darryl: No, more like cobalt.
IvyClay: What is your ideal job?
Darryl: I would like to work at a publishing company, but any job at a library, bookstore or really just anything to do with books.
IvyClay: Do you have a favorite book or genre?
Darryl: Ome- um… [Blushes as he hesitates] Just… no. [Thinks hard] Oh! Niche fantasy stories.
IvyClay: Those can be the best! [Glances at her notes] What is your favorite weather?
Darryl: [Tilts his head thoughtfully before smiling] A breezy summer morning without a cloud in the sky.
IvyClay: Can you explain the origin of that tennis ball game you play?
Darryl: Oh! Yes! So, I needed a way to get stronger and dodge attacks and so I would toss a ball as hard as I could, shift and have Lapu try and catch it to increase our reflexes. You can only shift so many times because of all the calories so after the first throw or so Lapu would fling them around himself and try and catch them. It was great agility practice. Oak saw me doing it one day and showed me the back field and Terrance bought a racket soon after and he would lob the balls for me. Soon Lapu got good enough that he could send them out all in a row and so Lapu would try and return the balls to the inside of the hollowed-out stump before the next one hit the ground and bounced. The less bounces the better! We made a little change when Lydia joined in. Lapu would catch the balls before they bounced, pass them to Lydia who would put them in the stump so none of the balls ever touched the ground. I am really hoping Willow joins in next time!
IvyClay: If Lapu were any other animal, what would he be?
Darryl: A rabbit or a deer.
IvyClay: What was it like the first time you two shifted on your own?
Darryl: Honestly it was a huge relief, like a bubble popping. Suddenly we felt like we had so much more room and freedom. We were lucky we didn’t shift in the same stressful situation like Terrance and Oak had to do. I was outside playing pretend, and we just knew.
IvyClay: That must have been a relief! If you were able to cure any one disease, what would you cure?
Darryl: [pauses for a long time before smiling wryly] Narcissism.
IvyClay: I think a lot of people would agree with you! How are the relationships with your siblings?
Darryl: Well, I now have two half-siblings, an older brother, Terrance and a younger sister, Lydia. I think those relationships are healthy. I live in my brother’s house with his wife Sara and he is protective and a little controlling. Sara acts like an aunt to me and I appreciate the respect she gives me. Lydia just moved in this last month and that has been super awesome. We were best friends before we knew we were related.
IvyClay: What about your parents? How is your relationship with them?
Darryl: Next question. [Crosses arms firmly and looks away]
IvyClay: Alright, how do you put on your shoes? Do you put both your socks on first, one sock and one shoe or-?
Darryl: What? [pause] If I wear socks I put them on upstairs in my room before putting my shoes on at the back door.
IvyClay: What is your earliest memory?
Darryl: Dominic stealing my ice-cream at some pack gathering.
IvyClay: What is your greatest fear?
Darryl: Well, after last month, Alpha taking away Lydia.
IvyClay: On a happier note, what are your top 5 favorite things.
Darryl: [Ticks each item off on his fingers] My siblings, books, hiding places, food, and the outdoors.
IvyClay: What are you most attracted to in someone?
Darryl: Kind, outgoing, athletic and ah, um, [almost inaudible] a good chest.
IvyClay: [Smiles knowingly] Are you waiting for your mate or hoping to find someone yourself?
Darryl: [Adverts gaze] Honestly, I don’t want to force someone to be stuck with me, and I am not really looking. [fiddles with the stool] I have my siblings, that’s enough family for me. In fact, I think I would make a really fun uncle!
IvyClay: Don’t be self-deprecating Darryl.
Darryl: What? I said something positive at the end!
IvyClay: Indeed you did, but that takes about all the time we have, you better get back soon so just one last question for all of you Dearest Readers who always seem to want to know, “What will happen next in the story?”
Darryl: Story?
IvyClay: Yes, what will happen next?
Darryl: In the book I am reading from the library? [his blush comes back] I don’t know exactly.
IvyClay: Well there you have it everyone! Thank you so much for reading along so far and if you have any other questions for Darryl I can see if I can get him to visit the comment section to answer them for you! [Waves farewell dramatically]
Darryl: [swivels around again] Seriously who are you talking to?
