Well, techinically I am, but that's not the point!
I still have a few tidbits to share, so here is a simple info-dump until the next time!
I have a few upcoming stories in the works for future publications, and part of me is kinda excited how they'll end up. I'm still in the development phases, but with that in mind, here are a few conceptual stories I've made:
Idea #1: Trap't
Premise -- The lives of 3 random people clash and collide as chaos and destruction reign from above and below around them. A young businesswoman, an amnesiac, and an assassin, all find themselves forced to survive the collapse of society when an unknown disaster decimates an entire city, throwing the surrounding lands in turmoil. A parallel fiction tale inspired by Resident Evils 1 and 2, where each character's story intersects and intertwines, follow them a their decisions permanently shape the outcome of their fates. Death is everywhere, and Life is fleeting. Escape if you can!
Idea #2: Derobe
Premise -- A thug raised by a notorious gang finds his life and purpose questioned when the group's latest collateral comes in the form of a young teen. Unable to shake his need for release, said thug finds freedom in befriending the youth. But as strife both internal and external begins creating chaos and dissent, the impending doom that hangs over makes it ever more clear that life in the gang is no longer an option. Can our disgruntled rogue find a means of ecape, or will he die trying, risking it all for someone who has more to lose than he does?
Idea #3: Camille
Premise -- An orphaned Korean Alpha is adopted by biracial parents and is raised in Canada as a normal, optimistic child. When he is given a scholarship to return to his native homeland, he learns the harsh reality of discrimination and bias after he is framed from a crime he didn't commit and shamefully extradited back home, and branded a criminal. Years pass and now a young man, Eun is given a new chance to study in a new city built around equality. His new experiences take an even bigger dive when he meets Camille, an African-American and a Beta, and sparks fly as he comedically tries to navigate life hoping to win Camille's heart. But when his past comes back to haunt him, Eun is forced to confront the very people who damaged him. Can Eun awaken the Alpha within, and break the walls of Camille's heart, or will the secrets of their traumatic pasts, drive them apart before they even have a chance to flourish?
These are some of the many ideas for stories I have swirling around in my brain, and I have to say, I love all of them equally. They're each different and cover a whole range of of topics that originally I never would've thought to cross. I'm not Canadian for one, and I'm not Korean, so blending the two and putting them together in an Omegaverse sounds awesome.... well, at least on paper. In practice, it would be extremely difficult to do, for the obvious reasons. I have little to knowledge of either culture, and while I'm certain I could bypass those details and push on, the fact that I'm representing not one, but two Non-American cultures, including their languages and cultural norms, the reality is that any error on my part would not misrepresent the two as both heinous and erroneous, but would also show just how shallow and superficial I am as a writer to blatantly disregard these places as backdrops when that wasn't my intention at all.
So going forward, if there's enough interest in the story of 'Camille' to generate a buzz to start writing, please let me know in the comments below. As this is my first time writing about both Canadian and Korean culture, I'm going to need all the feedback and spare help I can get to make that the story is both satifying as it is accurate to read. Omegaverse culture aside, I fully acknowledge and understand if the idea of a Black man writing a BL story about a Korean protagonist falling in with a Black man may come off as disingenous and unrealisti; so doing my due-diligence as a writer and gauging my audience's willingness to partake in my ideas helps to understand the boundaries that many may or may nor be willing to cross.
This will be helpful going forward in the future, so please feel free to give me as much feedback as possible.
