Sam-
My eyes shot open and I sat up in a small field surrounded by trees. I held back a sob as I stood up on shaky legs. I need to keep moving, I can't stay in one place for too long. I started walking back towards the trees stumbling. I make it to the tree line and leaned up against one of the trees. Why is walking so hard? I slide to the ground at the base of the tree. When was the last time I ate something? My head was pounding as I forced myself to stand again.
I stumbled through the woods with no destination in mind. I passed tree after tree until my legs gave out and I fell to the ground. My head felt like it was going to split in half and I was out of breath. I heard some sticks snap and numbly turned my head in the direction of the sound. A gust of wind ran through the tree shaking the leaves as I shivered. A scent hit my nose and I forced myself into place not daring to move. My breath was coming in short gasps and my head was ringing. My thoughts were racing as I started feeling light headed.
My hand made its way to my arm and I squeezed it trying to calm myself down. It's not him. I must be mistaken that it can't be his scent. My hand tightened as I started to draw blood. A shadow suddenly cast over me and I looked up breath catching in my through. Sobbs raked my body as I struggled to breath. How did he find me? I shot off the ground and my head spinning and I struggled to move away from him.
“Where are you going Sammy?” he sneered “I came all this way to see you!” I sobbed and fell over, cutting my arm on a sharp rock. I screamed out in pain, tears running down my face.
“Please no” I said weakly “p-please” he walked towards me and kicked me in the stomach. I writhed on the ground struggling to breath. “Dad, please” my cries fell on deaf ears as he walked closer and grabbed me by my hair dragging my face towards his, before slamming it back into the ground. My vision was splotchy and I struggled to breath. I heard voices screaming my name as my consciousness started to fade.
Corey-
It's been a few weeks since our mate ran from us and zero took it hard blaming himself for scaring him. We’ve been tracking him but his scent is really hard to follow and he moves too fast.
Zero laid in the hotel bed next to me staring at the ceiling. I grabbed his hand in mine and squeezed. “Don't worry we’ll find him” I say, giving his hand a kiss. He looks at me and forces a small smile.
“Ya, you’re right we’ll find him soon.” he yawned and fell asleep still clutching my hand. I layed in bed next to him thinking about our small mate. We never even got his name. I sighed and turned over in bed. I hope he’s alright. I think before drifting off to sleep.
I wake up to a bright light and the smell of breakfast. I groaned and sat up stretching. Zero walks over and kisses me.
“Good morning Corey” he says with a small smile. “How did you sleep?”
“Good,” I said, yawning, “did you make breakfast?” He nods and I smile “thanks.” We eat breakfast quickly before leaving the hotel, and taking a walk in the woods.
We strolled through the trees taking in the beautiful scenery. Zero grabbed my hand and dragged me to a small clearing.
“Isn't it pretty?” I gripped his hand nodding.
“It's very pretty” he smiled at me before dragging me out into the middle. I Grinned as he sat down and joined him in the soft grass. I sat with him for a few seconds staring at the trees before he froze next to me. He whipped his head towards me with a look of fear on his face.
“Do you smell that?” I looked at him confused and took a big breath in through my nose. Our mate. “It smells like fear!” Zero looked at me, his face paleing. “Oh god, what if he’s hurt?” Zero started freaking out and I gripped his hand.
“He’s probably fine” I said, trying to calm zero. “Let's follow his scent.” Zero nodded and we walked out of the clearing following his scent. It suddenly became stronger and we ran towards him. Zero slowed down and looked at me.
“It's got to be him right?” I nodded.
“There’s no way I’d mistake my mate's scent.” Zero agreed to let out a sigh.
“Do you think-” he started talking before he was cut off by a scream of pain. He froze. “That's him Corey! He’s in pain!” Zero started sprinting toward the scream with me close behind him.
We made it to a small clearing and saw a large man standing over a small person huddled on the ground. The larger man kicked the smaller one in the gut and he let out a yelp of pain. I froze, my vision blurring with anger as I stared at the bigger man. He hit my mate. The large man slammed his head into the ground and Zero screamed trying to hold me back. The man turned to look at us and smirked.
“Are you here to save little sammy?” he sneered, “Well I'm afraid it's too late for that.” I ripped myself out of Zero's grip and walked towards him. I kill him. I thought, walking towards him. I’ll kill him, I’ll kill him, I’ll kill him.
