The students begin shuffling and gathering up their belongings, eager to leave the late night class. Scooping up her purse, Maria scurries to Alice's desk. "Don't forget, you're going with us to the bar tomorrow night." "On a Tuesday night?" "Sure! No class Wednesday, plus it's slower so more time with Julio!" Alice smirks, rolling her eyes in a playful manner. "Heh, like I'd pass up that offer. Alright, it's a date then!" "That's what I thought, I knew you'd come!" Maria waves as she exits the classroom, Ryland and Eva trailing along behind her.
Lily smiles weakly at them. 'Going to the bar? Well that's not very good...' she thinks to herself for a moment. But not wanting to appear rude, she scrambles to think of something to say. "Well they seem...fun~" "Eh, you'll get used to them," Alice shrugs it off, standing up. Her eyes glance quickly to Jason, who appeared to be preoccupied with wiping off the whiteboard. She lowers her voice for only Lily to hear. "See, what did I tell ya? He's weird and has a boring class."
"Oh shush he does not! He seems really nice, and besides, I like biology," she whispered back. "Yeah okay. Look kid, this isn't kindergarden. You can't be so naive and assume everyone you meet is your friend." Lily's cheeks blush slightly in embarassement. She always felt that she made the right decisions, including when befriending new people. "H-Hey wait a minute, I'm not naive! I happen to be a very good judge of character, I just like making new friends."
Alice stares at her for a moment, a curious scheme plotting in her head. "Uh huh...hey, lemme see your phone, I want to give you my number." Lily's eyes light up slighlty, though still a bit caught off guard with the sudden request. "Huh? Oh, well alright!" Reaching into her pink cardigan and pulling out her phone. She didn't think befriend Alice would be this quick and easy. But she wasn't going to question it as she places the phone in Alice's hand.
She stares down at the pink, glittery IPhone in her hand, her face riddled with disbelief that someone could be so trusting. After a moment of staring at the device, she looks to Lily, giving her an 'are-you-kidding-me?' expression. "Lily..." Alice begins. "Yeah?" she responds. "...You just gave your phone to a stranger." "You're not a stranger, you're my friend."
"Wait, when did we decide that?? Besides, for all you know I could be an axe murderer."
"I doubt that."
"Oh? And why's that?"
"Well, what kind of axe murderer would wear something like that? No offense, Alice," Lily replied bluntly.
Alice's cheeks flush red at her comment, not expecting to hear that come from her mouth. "T-That's not the point!" "You're right! The point is, we're friends now." Alice stares questioningly at Lily's seemingly pushy yearn for friendship. "That's not the point either!" "Sure it is! If we're friends, then you're not a stranger right?" Alice hesitantly agrees. "Then we're friends! And so I didn't give my phone to a stranger."
"That's not how this...oh alright whatever." Alice sighs in defeat, not wanting to waste the energy in disagreeing. "I knew you'd come around!" Lily replies happily, following her to the door. "Have a good night girls," Jason calls after them. Alice ignores his friendly goodbye, while Lily turns to wish him the same thing, before exiting the room. Her reply lingers on his mind momentarily. 'So overly cheery...it's almost sickeningly sweet.'
