“come.” Owen gestured me to follow him. As we walked down the tunnel it got larger and brighter. Soon it was bright enough to expel all shadows. The tunnel unexpectedly opened into a larger perpendicular tunnel. In the middle were a few long silver cylinders hovering just above the ground in parallel rows. A few of the same cylinders shot past above in shiny blue tubes that vanished once the shape had passed. Owen led me to an open cavity that looked out upon the scene. He motioned to a chair and after pressing a few buttons on a panel on the wall and removing something, he handed me a steaming cup of bright purple liquid. I put the cup on a small table.
“how do you know my name?”
“what would you say if I said you didn’t always live in Boron?”
“I would say you are crazy.” I picked the cup back up.
“then I won’t tell you.” He took a sip of the dark green liquid in his cup.
I took a sip from my cup and looked into it. “what is this?”
“Gorgo, you usually got it when you… never mind” he stared out at the flashing cylinders.
“when I what?” I demanded.
“when you lived in Xenon.” He stated still watching the blurs.
I took another sip and put the cup down. “tell me.”
“it’s not a short story.” He warned.
“I have time.” I retorted.
He took another sip and took a breath…
Gena sighed and dropped the tablet on the coffee table in front of her.
Sam looked up at her, "Why did you stop?"
Gena arched an eyebrow and pointed at the window. The sun had gone down and the neighbors lights just snapped on obscuring the emerging stars in the sky. Sam's stomach grumbled and Gena laughed.
"There is some ramen in the cupbord on the left, i'll get some water heating." Sam streched and yahned, his pointed incensors glistned in the dimm light. "Lights on" he said towards the the celing and the warm lights snapped on.
"Just so you don't trip over anything on the way over" sam pulled gena to her feet. "It's late, and there's a storm coming, you should stay here tonight."
Gena nodded her head as she headed toward the kitchen. after putting the water on to heat up she leaned against the counter and surveyed the kitchen untill her eyes landed on sam reaching for the top shelf for the ramen.
"I'm glad you bought this place. I was sad to see that my parents put it up for sale" Gena sighed.
Sam put the ramen on the counter and looked at her with his amber eyes. "So am I, your grandparents were like my own." They looked at eachother for a moment untill a shrill whistle broke the silence.
After the last noodle dissappeared lightning shot through the sky and a roll of thunder shook the house.
"well, i'll take you up on that room!" Gena yawned as rain came pouring down.
