After several hours they finally managed to break through the barrier.
Having removed the seal, the two entered the tombstone and started down the steps, following the corridor, they arrived in a large room that was barely lit, and completely empty.
"Don't move."
Two figures appeared behind them, unable to even turn around finding a knife at their throats, they simply raised their hands in surrender.
"Who are you and what have you come here to do?"
"I'm Kelley and this is Nemesis, I'm an old friend of Dee's and I'm looking for him, while he's just helping me in my search."
"Dee has no friends."
"I'm sorry but you have one right in front of you."
The two people behind them suddenly knelt down as a third person appeared in front of them.
"Kelley... Have you come to kill me?..."
With a very sad smile he couldn't hold back a tear.
"Dee! What are you saying?!"
Trying to approach his friend both of Dee's guards stood up and snapped between the two, hinting that it would not be possible to get any closer.
"Then why did you bring assassins with you?"
"Assassins?..."
"Then who are they?"
A creature that was more skeleton than human appeared from the exit of the corridor they had passed through earlier.
"So you had already sensed us but did nothing anyway? I'd say you're underestimating us..."
"Dee I don't know who they are, and I would have no reason to kill you, why would I do that?..."
"Hmm..."
Two seals appeared under Kelley and Nemesis' feet, and they found themselves teleported next to the walls of the room, and locked inside barriers that did not allow them to approach.
"The time has come to end your suffering old Dee, it will be my honour to help you reach eternal rest."
"Are you really sure you want to go through with this? You still have time to retire Deloan."
"I will not let such a situation pass me by for anything in the world."
Deloan smiled as he picked up his two daggers.
"...Come out..."
A horde of skeletons appeared from the shadows, as if they had been summoned by Deloan and were waiting for nothing more than his command, while Dee remained impassive.
Dee's two guards annihilated the skeletons that continued to appear around them, not even making Dee move a finger.
The fight went on for a long time but despite this the guards showed no signs of fatigue, while Dee and Deloan stood still and looked at each other.
"Are you going to let your pets do all the work or are you going to do something yourself?"
"What's the hurry? It's not like I'm in a hurry, after all, you'll get tired sooner or later, while my little ones don't even know what fatigue is."
With a detached look he snorted, as he drew his sword from the scabbard strapped to his waist.
"Swordsmanship has never been my forte, but I'd say a little training wouldn't hurt."
Hurling himself like a bullet he headed towards Deloan, shattering the bones of the skeletons that stood in his path. His movements were slow but effective, striking between the joints connecting the bones he rendered them harmless.
Arriving immediately at his target he made a lunge aimed at the heart, but Deloan crossed his daggers in front of his chest, deflecting their trajectory.
Immediately after parrying the lunge he used the impact to launch himself backwards and with a kick struck Dee in the side, who was not expecting such a rapt counterattack was caught off guard and fell to the ground, coughing breathlessly.
"Is that all? I was expecting more from the famous 'Dee' everyone was telling me about..."
The two guards immediately ran up next to Dee as they continued to destroy the skeletons.
"Don't overdo it, you're still recovering. What did you think you were doing with your body in that condition?"
"Eheh... I was sorry to stand still and do nothing..."
Coughing again he smeared blood on his hand as he covered his mouth.
"I've really become useless now eh..."
The skeletons immediately froze, and stopped attacking.
"Tsk, count yourself lucky."
Without even adding anything else Deloan disappeared inside his shadow, and all the skeletons followed him.
Silence became the ruler of the room, as if nothing had happened.
Nemesis, who until then had not been terrified, opened his mouth for the first time.
"What is going on?... Why is he leaving?"
Kelley who had been biting his lip remained impassive as he stared down the corridor they had come from moments before.
"OhOhOhOh... I see I missed all the fun, I would have loved to join in..."
Lowering his hat from his head and bringing it in front of his own pelvis Thanatos made his entrance.
"A little flea has reduced you to this condition.... Have you no shame?...
"Go away. As I have already told you, I want nothing more to do with you."
The two guards stood between the two, but as if annoyed by their presence, with a simple wave of their hand they were thrown against the wall farthest away from Dee, remaining unconscious.
"You and I made a pact, you know that..."
"I don't care."
"Hmm..."
Puffing, he raised his eyes to the sky, then brought them to Nemesis.
"I see my little gift helped, and thanks to you I was finally able to find my pupil, I'd say we're even."
Snapping his fingers he broke the seal under Nemesis and Kelley's feet, freeing them from Dee's magic.
Dee who turned towards them stared intently at Nemesis.
"Don't trust him, don't make the same mistake I did..."
Thanatos approached Nemesis, ignoring Dee, and inspected her hand.
"That was unexpected... How did you get it?... With my little gift .... But .... Mh...."
He continued whispering, until no one understood what he was saying, until a gleam was noticed in his eyes, staring first at his hand and then into Nemesis' eyes.
"How would you like to become my pupil too? As you might have guessed, I am very powerful, and there is not a stronger teacher than me on this whole dull planet. Not even at the tower would you find someone as skilled as me in using black magic."
"Do not accept, I tell you from experience. Many years ago I had agreed to become your pupil and...."
With another snap of Thanatos's fingers a similar bubble was created around Dee's head, which prevented her from hearing the words he was saying.
"Listen to me. With me you could become very powerful, and do anything you want."
