And that's when she woke up. Her body was trembling and tears were sliding insistently down her cheeks. She shook her head, frantically looking at her surroundings, trying to check if her torture was over.
At that moment, a strong musty smell and the rough flannels covering her body were the decisive factors for her to calm down momentarily. She was in that small, neglected cellar where she had lived for the past 7 years thanks to the orphanage director. Rising from her improvised bed, she felt the feeling of tranquility leave her, and an indescribable anxiety gripped her heart.
'Is it really over?' - she thought, heart brokenly.
She left the warehouse, running desperately through the corridors, bumping carelessly into more than one piece of furniture, but that didn't stop her. She needed to know, she needed to confirm that everything was okay, that it was just a dream.
Then, the resounding sound of the main door opening, showed in front of her that peaceful city that she thought a few moments ago was destroyed. She sighed in relief as she walked around the city, it had only been a dream, at least that's what she wanted to believe.
Honestly, it wasn't the first time Eira had that dream, in fact, it had already been 7 years since that dream first appeared, and she saw it so often that it began to affect her daily life. Day after day she questioned herself whether she was really in the real world or if it was an illusion she didn't wish to escape from. However, as soon as the sun rose, she realized that her fears were unfounded.
'If this were an illusion, I wouldn't have such a horrible life.'
That was the thought that had kept her sane until now. After all, there was no way that a life where her sole purpose is to be a slave to the other orphans so that she could eat twice a week, was the paradise that an illusion would have brought her.
Having confirmed that her nightmare was over, she went to the river that separated the forest from the city, sitting in front of it as she watched her reflection, since there was no way she would be able to go back to sleep that night anyway.
- It's just a dream, that time was just a coincidence. - she muttered to herself.
And so, the peaceful image of the city bathed in moonlight was stained by that little girl until dawn.
Eira has been tormented by the same dream for 7 years. A nightmare, where the hero of the prophecy betrays humanity. At least that's what she believed until a boy named Robin arrives at the orphanage where she lives and.... He turns out to be the hero of her dreams!
Now, she must prevent the hero's blackening and save the world before it's too late. Will it be too late to change her future or will she become his savior?
