His mind filled with questions. And answers. It had been his
sister who was traveling with him the whole time. Her name wasn’t Kayla. It was
Olivia Smiths of Grey Village. And Jensen, acting as Jalees. What other secrets
had others keep from him then? If it was as he had guessed, his two companions
had known every single secret nobody told. He acted like a slave, obeying everything
and believing in everything. Now he knew better.
Furious with letting that dream happen, he dumped himself on the floor. He wanted the dream to be a fake past. But dreams in Elvendore was always either the untold past, the happiest memory, or the great future. He had always dreamt about the present memory. This was the first Untold Past dream he had.
Knowing he mustn’t stop, he started to walk toward the trees. He felt some strange feeling, the feeling of being needed here. His mouth opened wide. Like wide. He saw it. The cottage from his dream. Where Olivia and Jensen had been before they changed their names.
Running now, he ran towards the cottage and knocked on the door loudly. He could hear the footsteps of a man walking to the door. And the door opened.
Standing there, was Dunce. Dunce didn’t say anything. He just smiled warmly and let him in, without a word. The man moved fast for an old lad, as he quickly settled into his rocking chair, leaving an armchair for Asco. Asco’s mouth was still in an O shape, and when he noticed, he quickly closed it, embarrassed.
“I bet I know what you came here for, youngster,” Dunce said calmly, as if nothing of importance had happened.
“Yes, sir.”
“Kayla will survive, but then, I think you’ll be great for being my little helper. Old bones ain’t good these days, as the dark days are coming nearer. But what I did for Olivia and Jensen had helped them, as they are happy. I know you haven’t seen Jalees before. You will…Tonight.”
“Thank you, sir,” Asco said.
“Okay, your first task is to harvest my vegetables and plant a new crop,” Dunce handed him a list. “Others are in this list. Complete by tonight, and you’ll get dinner.”
And with that, he was magically transported to a vegetable patch, filled with different kinds of vegetables. And started to work.
He thought that tending to plants were an easy task, as he had watched others do before. And so, as the sun set, a young boy’s figure leaned over to harvest the fruits.
