Four figures emerged from the door. Asco, smiling broadly, Kayla, hooking her arm at another man’s. That was Jensen, Ashwa guessed. The last figure had made her pop out of her seat. It was the pixie, green-haired girl, wearing green all over the place. From her dream.
“Welcome, welcome! Come and have a seat!” the sorcerer said cheerfully.
“Hmph. Seat beside a girl who can kill me at any moment? Nope,” a new voice spoken. It sounded like some annoyed girl, with a tired tone. It had been Nadine who had spoken.
“Seat!” Dunce barked sharply.
At last, everyone sat on an armchair. Sighing heavily, Dunce addressed them, his golden eyes solemn. “The girl here is the sorceress reborn. Don’t kill her please, and most certainly do not thwart with the prophecy.”
“Hmph!” Nadine crossed her arms tightly. This pixie really hates me, Ashwa made a mental note not to be too close to her.
“Nadine,” Jenson said soothingly. “We all know you’re the sorceress reborn for earth magic. We promise you’ll not die in her hands,” he eyed Ashwa warily, as if she was just somebody who could be killed easily.
“Sorceress of earth?” Ashwa said, loud enough for everyone to hear.
“Duh,” Nadine rolled her eyes sarcastically. “Everybody knows, stupid.”
“Let’s have dinner,” Kayla changed the subject quickly, as she saw flames rising in Ashwa’s bloodshot eyes. Everyone hurried to the table, as food magically appeared. Nadine stalked to the table, crossing her arms together and glaring.
When the young girl reached to the table, her mouth watered. Ashwa had never seen such grand food placed before her before. All she ate in Vil was planted rice, porridge, pastries, all those common stuffs. Now in front of her was salad, decked with sesame soy sauce, and a plate of desserts, meat, and all. Eating heartily, she grabbed the dessert, Chocolate ice-cream with the pink liquid she had drank just now.
“Look, piggy girl hasn’t got any manners,” Nadine said.
“Nadine, shut your mouth. Or else…,” Ashwa replied sternly.
“Or else what? Or else I’ll get barbecued by your puny flames? As if,” she snorted, and ate her salad.
That was the final straw. Leaping up, Ashwa fired her flames at the direction of Nadine’s seat. Nadine screamed, green air surrounding her, and of course, her beautiful flames. But realising what she had done, Ashwa quickly left the table, to another room.
Everyone was trying to help Nadine. She was changed, and scolded for angering her. Nadine thought she was the victim, and sat at one corner, stubbornly.
Dunce crept into the room. Ashwa sat in one corner, crying bitterly. Dunce sat down beside her, and wrapped his old arms around her shoulders.
“Not your fault, youngster. If being triggered to anger is your weakness, I doubt you’ll ever make it out of this quest alive. There is also one thing I haven’t told anyone yet, but I’m going to tell you. “
“What?”
“Here,” Dunce handed the same old book that the prophecy of her was written. “Flip to page five thousand, and read. I’ll leave you alone for now,” with that, Dunce left and closed the door, leaving Ashwa holding the book. Flipping the pages that contained multiple prophecies, she finally found the page.
FAIR’S SWORD-AMONG WITH THE NEW EMPIRE PROPHECY
War shall rest on our enemy’s hands,
Sworn to protect the immortality sands.
When the dusk falls however,
Fair’s sword shall come over.
Fair’s Sword? What was that? Ashwa wondered.
