~ Renea Goldson ~
Year G0392 - Month 6 - Day 1
The Redwind Cottage
Excitement raced through Renea as she stared up at the night sky far above her. If her keeper knew that she was awake at this time then she knew she would be in for the punishment of a life. Well it wasn’t staying up that would get her punished, it was the fact that she had snuck out of her window to gaze up at the sky. Breathing in the cold night air she let out a sigh as she sat on the grassy ground with her violet night dress all around her.
Renea was a young girl at the age of 6 years old so and her keeper, her caretaker was always fussing over her to make sure she was safe. There were times that it could be extremely annoying and she wanted to scream at the top of her lungs. However most of the time she remembered why her keeper was like that.
After all her keeper wasn’t the one who had given birth to her it was the person who Renea had never met that had given birth to her. Not that Renea loathed her birth mother or anything, in fact with how her keeper had praised and respected her mother, she had grown to somewhat love her mother. Not that she would tell anyone else that, after all her mother risked her life to save her from a fire.
Letting out a sigh, the young girl looked up at the sky and smiled longingly. She couldn’t explain why, but she had always wanted to see the stars, the moon and even the sun up closer. Much closer. It was an impossible wish and longing that she wanted to achieve one day.
“Renea Goldson! Where on earth are you!?” Sarah Red-Wind shouted fear lacing every word in her voice.
Renea’s dark brown eyes opened up wide as she whirled around to where the cabin was. Quickly she jumped up to run back to her home. However as she stood up she completely froze when she looked up at the sky once again. The sight that she saw was not only terrifying for the young child but it was also beautiful and filled Renea with awe.
The beautiful golden scales that covered the beast’s body shimmered under the moonlight and it’s huge wings pushed it forwards in the sky. One thing that caught Renea’s attention was the large round belly that the creature had. Dark beady black eyes glowed as the creature flew through the sky in a slow and lazy manner. A gust of wind whipped through Renea’s golden hair as she stared up at the beast in awe. Frozen in place she didn’t notice her keeper’s arms wrap around her until she was facing Sarah’s angered brown eyes.
“Wh…” immediately Sarah put a hand over Renea’s lips and pulled her into a hug.
Silence surrounded them for a long while as the creature flew through the sky. Only once it was gone did Sarah finally speak in an angered tone.
“What in heaven's name were you thinking young lady!?” Sarah growled out in anger.
Immediately Renea’s head went down and her dark skinned cheeks turned slightly red. She looked at her bare feet in shame as she bit her lip. She couldn’t stand being yelled at and usually backed down from any argument with her keeper. After all she respected the woman far too much to argue back too much.
“I’m sorry, I just wanted to look at the stars,” she whispered with tears starting to form in her eyes.
Looking at the ground with shame she refused to look up at Sarah. However when she felt something grip her chin and force it to look up she began to calm down. Sarah was looking at her with a warm, soothing smile as she knelt down to Renea’s level. Her wild red hair was untamed and messy as usual and her dark brown skin was clean under her night dress that reached just below her knees.
“Renea, if you wanted to look at the stars why didn’t you tell me?” Sarah asked as her smile turned into a small frown.
“You said no last time,” Renea responded slowly as she pouted.
“Darling I said no yesterday because it was almost midnight and you had woken up in the middle of the night. You needed your rest,” Sarah responded as she whipped away Renea’s tears.
“But you always say no,” Renea said as Sarah picked her up.
“I do not always say no,” Sarah laughed. “Now it’s time for bed for you my dear.”
“Awe, but I don’t want to,” Renea shinned before a loud yawn escaped her lips.
“Too bad off to bed, and there will be no desert tomorrow,” Sarah said as she opened the door to the house.
