Mina—running late—is power walking to class. She’s hurrying to class, yet the closer she gets, the stronger her anxiety becomes. She’s beginning to stress about what the others will think. What will the students think? What will the professor think? Mina has always tried her best to keep up, even though others may not notice.
Her body becomes very heated as she opens the door to her psychology class. Many pairs of eyes—including the professor— begin to stare at her for a moment as she walks in. She goes to her favorite seat. A lonely seat next to another set more in the corner.
Though this time it wasn’t alone. One of her classmates was in the seat next to it. It was Scott. A fairly tall man, with piercingly blonde hair. As soon as she begins to get settled in her seat, she can feel his smug face staring at her.
Scott has always been very judgemental of his peers, feeling like he’s above most. The king of his peasants. As the professor continues his lecture on the functions of the mind, Scott slightly leans over to her. “If this isn’t for you, then maybe you shouldn’t be here.” he says with a fake expression of concern. He then sits properly in his chair and begins to go back to writing notes.
Mina then becomes so embarrassed. She can feel her body temperature begin to rise and boil. A slight amount of sweat begins to form above her brow as she takes in the comment.
She then looks at her right hand holding a black pen. The feeling of embarrassment begins to wash away with the feeling of confidence. She knew what she wanted, even if it wasn’t morally acceptable.
