Duke

My hands were shaking. I stared up at the ceiling. I could hear fetch and girl-boy on the other side of the fetch giggling like little girls. They were so stupid. Everyone was really stupid ngl. I've never cared about anyone as much asI cared about Sandy. She was gone. This was real. Nothing ever really felt real. I couldn’t believe I hadn't known she was sick, did she not trust me as much as i trusted her. All these thoughts bubbled in my head. I couldn’t close my eyes, closing my eyes would be accepting defeat. It would mean letting the world sink in. I knew.. We knew nothing about the world. The far corners of the earth were the four rotting walls of the shed. I wanted to scream. It was like my entire life had changed in a second. If Sandy was gone did anything really happen. Was anything really happening? 

Tap Tap Tap

I was so tired, tired of life honestly. This was so boring. I mean I'm what 14 now? Maybe older I dont really know but, was Sandy dying a wake up call? Was it finally time to leave this goddamn shed and go into the real world. Somewhere I’ve never been. I know absolutely nothing about pop culture. We karaoke using an old radio from like I dont even know the 14th century. I have never been to walmart before. Never. The only store I've been to is the weirdass crusty old man pervert’s place where he sells like, cigars and candy and sometimes horses. It's rlly weird actually. 

So my backstory, well I guess I was young and uh there was this girl named Sandy whom I argued with but we just clicked and like she told me about Kiki and well Kiki never really bothered me but it bothered Sandy so I enjoyed bullying Kiki’s side with Sandy. But, this is my story not Sandy’s. My name is Duke uh i had some made up last name but i forgot it. All I remember is that Kiki gave everyone in the shed either a cat breed last name or a dog breed last name. And dont u dare call me a furry or i will beat the living shit outta you, expect i gotta better things to do.

The next day

“So what are we doing guys?” I said to our side. “Um, are you the new leader Duke?” maddie whined. “Uh” I responded. “Nah, duke doesnt make up for Sandy he’s kinda a sidekick” Fetch said looking at the ground. “Hey. Whatcha just say? A sidekick.. I'll show you sidekick” I said, gradually getting louder. I pushed Fetch and he just looked at me. Eh neither of us had the energy to do this right now. Everyone felt weird. Fetch was right though I am a sidekick and I was proud of it.. No big decisions.. No being a leader.. No people expecting me to tell them what to do. “Hey, stop fighting.. Hehehe look it's my shadow” Cookie said laughing and helping fetch get up. 

Eventually all the commotion got Kiki’s side interested. “Hey guys, what are you doing?” Kiki said, smiling. I wanted to rip her stupid f**ing hair out, she was definitely feeling pity for us. Like we were nothing without our master. Even though it was true, I didn't need her judging approval. “What do you want?” I said. “No offense, Duke but your side is like hella broken right now.” Tauri said, smirking as she looked each of the dogs up and down. She was right, was I the only normal person on our side anymore? Damn. Did Sandy really make that much of a difference?

“Guys stop.” Fetch continued “We came to a conclusion that there wouldn’t be any more sides and more..” “SO what, no cats and dogs? No sides and teams?” Tabor said immediately, cutting him off….
