~~Meanwhile~~
Da-bin sighed, feeling refreshed from his much-needed shower as he tied the belt around his bathrobe. Setting his wet hand towel onto the office chair to dry, the mint-haired angel plopped onto the fluffy white bed and stared at the white ceiling of his hotel room. Why had he been chosen for this job of all the angels in God’s domain? Did he do something to irk the divine creator’s wrath?
He rolled over to his side with a loud groan, exposing his toned abs and striking gold sigil on his right chest. Today, more than ever, the dominion angel felt so homesick. Da-bin missed his carefree life up in the heavens, where all he had to do was file paperwork. At least up there, he didn’t have to babysit anyone…! Besides, he wouldn’t be cramped into an uncomfortable body that couldn’t even fly! What was the point of being an angel if you couldn’t even fly?
Glaring at himself from the mirror that was placed opposite the large king-sized bed, Da-bin’s brooding face slowly changed to one of horror. Wait a minute… Was it because he had wanted a more “exciting” life…? Was that why he was stuck in this ridiculous place?! Gasping at the thought, the angel quickly jumped off his bed, smoothly landing on his knees in less than a second. Gathering his hands in a prayer position, Da-bin squeezed his eyes shut as he murmured a quick prayer.
“My dear Lord and Savior, I’m sorry for wishing for something so reckless! Please let me go back! I want to go back home! I promise I will do better as your loyal subject, so please…!” Da-bin fervently prayed, “Please let me return to my original post within Heaven!!! Amen.”
Peeking one eye open, Da-bin glanced around the room, looking for any signs God might have sent in response to his plea. However, nothing in the hotel room seemed amiss. Climbing back onto his bed, Da-bin sighed as he covered his striking mint eyes in shame. Well, what was he even expecting anyway? He knew this world wouldn’t end until each person ended up with their prospective “love interest.”
Feeling helpless, Da-bin placed a hand over his sigil, remembering the good old days of his life as a dominion angel. Closing his eyes, Da-bin recalled the last conversation he had with God…

~~Thirteen Years Ago…~~
Humming to himself, the dominion angel was typing away on his computer when a knock reverberated on his office door. His colleague, Camael, grinned as he motioned for Zadkiel (aka Da-bin) to follow him out of the office. Raising an eyebrow, Zadkiel shrugged his shoulders before following Camael to the gardens outside.
“...? Why are we–”
“Zadkiel, I have something important to tell you. I hope you won’t be too mad with what I’m about to say.”
“... Well, that depends on what this is about.”
“Ha…” Pushing up his silver hair from his golden eyes, he reluctantly met Zadkiel’s gaze. “God wishes for you to be in charge of a certain soul–”
“WHAT?! Camael– Before I am an archangel, I am a dominion! My job isn’t to babysit for some stupid human!”
“Zadkiel… He is a special human. Do you think God would ask a dominion angel to look after just anyone?”
“Doesn’t change the fact that he’s asking me to be a babysitter!”
“Oh, come on–”
“Zadkiel.”
The two angels immediately bowed to God as the golden-haired creator stepped into the gardens. Patting Camael’s shoulder, God nodded his head as the archangel quickly made his escape. Casting his amethyst eyes on the pouting dominion angel, the deity couldn’t help but grin with adoration and amusement.
“Are you that upset to be looking over a human?”
“Did I… Did I do something to offend you…?”
“What do you mean?”
Nervously wringing his hand, Zadkiel stared at his feet and said nothing. He couldn’t tell God that he had been secretly finding his life in Heaven boring… What if that offended him even more?! Gaaah! What was he going to do?! This was definitely his punishment–
“Pfft.”
Shocked, Zadkiel hesitantly looked up to see the divine creator struggling to keep from guffawing. Huh? Why was he laughing so hard...?
“Er… Did I do something?”
“N-No! Haha. I’m sorry, but I could just tell what you were thinking! Don’t worry, I’m not punishing you for anything!”
“Oh… But why have you chosen me then? I… I’m not that spectacular like the other archangels….”
God immediately stopped laughing as he gazed at Zadkiel with a small frown. “Whatever do you mean??? Are you saying you’re somewhat lacking compared to the others?”
“... I mean. Yes? I’m not that well-known among humans like Michael or Gabriel… I didn’t do much to–”
“Don’t you ever think that! You are just as valuable and worthy like all the others! In fact, I find you to be the most trustworthy of all my archangels– which is why I requested that it be you who looks after Song Yoo.”
“I-I…” Turning as red as a cherry tomato, Zadkiel shyly glanced at his hands in embarrassment. God really thought so highly of him…?
Gathering Zadkiel’s hand in his, God gently warmly gazed down at the flustered angel. “Will you please go down and monitor him? Along with the others?”
“Pardon? What others…?” Zadkiel quizzically stared up at God– taken aback that he would be babysitting more than one human.
“They’re just a few more special humans that I’d like to keep an eye on… Would you please help me? You’re the only one that I can ask.”
Unable to say no to God’s fervent plea, the archangel soon found himself nodding at the golden-haired man’s request. If only he had known what exactly he was signing up for…
~~~
Slowly opening his eyes, Da-bin smacked his head at his carelessness. He should have refused… How could he have let God sweet talk him into this mess?! Geez, he really was a sucker for attention. The archangel pulled his bedsheets up to his chin with a loud harrumph. Oh, whatever. What was done was done; it wasn’t like whining about his situation would make it any less painful.
Turning off the lights inside his hotel room, Da-bin stared into the darkness. At least they finally met one another– which meant that his days on “earth” were nearing their end. Feeling tired, his eyelids slowly began to grow heavy with sleep.
“I’ll go back home… no matter w….”
