The other girl comes over and tries her best to soothe Elouise’s discomfort while trying to firmly say, “You mustn’t move Miss, or you’ll risk opening your wounds again, the Doctor and Father Adam should be here soon.”
Ellie smiles and chuckles out, “Why do you call your dad, Adam? Isn’t calling him your father enough?
Both girls look at each other, “Father Adam…isn’t our father, he’s the priest of our towns Abbey. It’s only proper to call him the way we did.”
“Oh”, goes Ellie, “I meant no disrespect, I’m not used to…” Elouise is cut off by a rush of people coming in the room.
“Hello my name is Father Adam, and this is Doctor Stevenson…girls out…how are you feeling Miss?” shooshing the girls out while taking the cup of water from the one and closing the door he turns back around towards Ellie.
“I’ll survive apparently, since I survived the fall, though I am rather sore on my back since the suit burned me.” She tries to sit up to shake his hand only to have the doctor gently push her back down.
“Mustn’t move ma’am, I changed your dressings yesterday, not ready to have them be soaking wet in blood quite yet. How did you receive your wounds if you don’t mind me asking?” The doctor softly guff’s and chuckles, “I’ve never seen that sort of thing before.”
Father Adam includes while handing Ellie the cup of water, “No one has actually, you’re quite the talk of the towns around here the past few days.”
“Woah…wait…back up, what?! Days?! How long have I been out?” Elouise exclaims abruptly sitting up without a second thought, forgetting about her back.
“Miss!” Both the Father and the doctor exclaim.
Holding her hand up, trying to hold back tears, she grits out in a hushed tone through her clenched teeth, “How long…gentleman, have I been passed out?”
“Well, Lord Maynard brought you to town about three days ago…” The doctor recalls.
Ellie’s eyes look over to Father Adam as he adds, “…But first there was the two days journey from when they found you off the coast of Grimbsy, where you…flew down from heaven.”
Finally drinking the water to coat her sore throat, she lowers the cup and rubs the brow of her forehead thinking before calmly asking “So…five days…I’ve been passed out just laying here…for five days? And your Lord? Is that the man who saved me?” Ellie pondered to the men, thinking back to the man who embraced her before she passed out completely. She thought she was just hallucinating before passing out.
“Yes, Lord Maynard, without a second thought, hurried his steed to your side…at least that’s what the crew recounts.” Stevenson pronounces while checking her bandages on her back since she’s now sitting up, “Well the ointment seems to be helping, but you still shouldn’t move around like you did Miss…” He looks over at the Father and back at Ellie, “…well we’re not quite sure what to call you, you know our names, but we haven’t…”
“OH!” Exclaims Ellie knowing what they are asking, “My apologies, I was just flustered waking up in a strange place, I’ve forgotten my manners.” Clearing her throat and extending her arm to shake hands, “My name is…” but before Ellie could finish her sentence, she was cut off by the sudden interruption of the door swinging open.
In walks a beautiful, but rather pompous blonde headed lady in a bright purple dress and rather too much jewelry worn along with a horrendous amount of perfume used, as the smell almost makes Elouise gag. Both men bow, as Father Adam politely says, “Ah Lady Ann, lovely for you to grace us with your presence. Nicholas and I were…”
But she cuts him off, “Well who is she?!” she huffily asks in an impatient tone, “I shouldn’t have to have my ear to this damn door to figure out who this stranger is in my own house?” she crosses her arms and finally looks at Ellie with a smirk, “Who are you dear, and why did MY HUSBAND have to risk his life to save your naked arse by the bloody North Sea?”
“North Sea, oh so this is England?” she lowers her voice and mumbles, “Wow Brandon must have changed the coordinates as well.” Looking back up at the three confused individuals, “My name is…”
“What do you mean ‘Oh this is England?’” Ann interrupts again and mocks Ellie’s voice with her statement, “And who in the bloody hell is this Brandon, and what’s a coordinate?” Ellie goes to speak again before Ann raises her hand to interrupt her once more, “You know what, I don’t care. What I do care about is WHO. YOU. ARE?!” Ann claps her hands to make her question more urgent.
Ellie out of patience, “Well Lady Ann if you would shut your damn mouth and let me fucking talk, I can answer you.” Ann is baffled, stunned, and stays silent, with her mouth gaping open in disbelief, “As I have been trying to say, my name is Elouise Rose Priestley. It may be hard to believe and I’m breaking the three-L’s by saying this, but since it doesn’t quite matter anymore, I might as well say it,” She sits the cup down, “I’m…” she pauses and takes a breath to calm her nerves, “…actually no I’m, I’m not going to say it. I’ve made a vow and I’m keeping it. There still might be a way. And as much as I’m pissed off, I can’t do it, I just can’t.”
