17-Sneaking out
Kenton's pov
It's been a few days since I last heard about Leith. I'm worried about them...I would've thought that Leith would've at least told me Merry Christmas but I can't say I'm surprised knowing what happened.
When I was at their house the other day, his mom unfortunately walked in on us. She was so shocked it could've been mistaken for something funny but afterwards, she yelled at me to get out of the house. I'm scared of what she did to Leith...it didn't look too good...I just hope Leith is alright. What if their dad knows?
Sh*t...they told me what their parents are like and now that I saw how Leith's mom's is actually like I'm scared.
I'm worried that the silence means something happened to them... Yeah, it probably means they got grounded and their phone got confiscated but I can't help but think something if not worse happened.
Now I know why it's never a good idea to come out to your parents or anybody for that matter. I never understood why Leith was scared to come out to their parents but now I know why...
Yeah, people weren't all that happy at first when they found out I liked guys but they were mostly happy that I still liked girls too. It took some time for people to accept who I am but now I can walk around without a care in the world. That is until I met Leith.
Leith isn't as lucky as me though. At least they got Cade their brother but still...it doesn't put them in a better position. I just, I really want to do something but I'm scared of what happens if I pull up to their house. I can still remember Leith's mom's threatening aura, I don't ever want to see that again.
Yeah, it's better to not do that...but it's not like I can do anything when I haven't heard from them at all. They never responded to my text messages so now I don't know what to do. I don't know if I should tell someone about it.
It hurts that I couldn't talk to Leith when it was Christmas but I guess I didn't even do that with my exes.
Regardless, my family has noticed that I looked down the last few days despite it being Christmas. So yeah, it's that, it's worrying me a lot.
So I really don't know if I should tell them...It's not like they can do anything more than I can. Nolan has been trying to cheer me up the last few days. I know he has been itching for me to tell him what's bothering me that much. I just, I don't know if I should confine myself to him.
It's not like he's there all the time. He's only here for the Holidays then he goes back to his college. We used to tell each other everything. I guess we don't now.
It's not like we aren't close anymore but it's more like he has his life and I have mine. He brought Kyle, his boyfriend.
Obviously, it's not for the entire Holidays but my parents agreed for a few days. Luckily Kyle is from around the area. Yeah, my parents ended up liking Kyle quite a lot.
Mom and Dad have yet to know about them. I guess they aren't planning on telling them anytime soon. At least the good thing is that my parents like him so that's good news.
Ugh, you know what f**k it I'm telling Nolan. I'm tired of bottling everything up. I need someone to talk to and even if I could call Sam, lately he's been all over Matthew. Such a traitor. He's been dating Matthew for longer than I've been dating Leith, yet he's spending all his time with him as if they are still a brand-new couple.
Regardless, I get out of my room and I knock on Nolan's door. I hear noises inside then the door opens.
"Hey...what brings you here?" Nolan says confused.
"Um, bad timing?"
It seems like Nolan and Kyle were busy having fun hence why Nolan has no shirt on and his hair is all over the place.
"Oh yeah..."
"You can come in, Kenton! You aren't bothering us!"
"Oh ok then." I get in the room and Nolan closes the door behind me.
I don't know Kyle a whole lot but with the advice he gave me, I'm really starting to like him. I'm not too sure I want to confine in him again too but if we do give good advice, I don't think it should be such a problem.
"So...what is that is so important that has us disrupt our sexy time?" Kyle says.
Wow, for a geeky guy, I didn't take him for a guy with no shame.
"Babe..." I chuckle.
"Sorry to bother you guys. I can leave you know."
"Yeah, yeah but stay. Seems like Kyle wants you to stay." They both look at each other and he looks back at me. I sit down on his desk chair.
"So what's wrong?"
"Well, I have a problem and I don't know what to do about it."
"Oh? So you want to open up now?"
"About what?"
"Wait...does it bother you if Kyle is here? I can always kick him out you know?"
"Hey!" Kyle throws a pillow to Nolan and Nolan laughs.
"Chill, chill it's a joke."
"Well, I don't think so."
"No, it doesn't bother me that Kyle is here. He helped me last time." Nolan looks at me in disbelief.
"Now you'd rather tell your problems to Kyle than me?!" Nolan says in disbelief and Kyle and I laugh.
"Not my fault Kyle seems so good at this." I defend myself.
"Fine, he gets to stay. Am I still needed through?" Nolan asks.
"Yeah, you can stay." Nolan gets happy about his victory, in response, Kyle then sarcastically rolls his eyes.
Nolan smirks as he looks at both him and Kyle still shirtless, Kyle glares back. Then they stop being all playful.
Kyle puts a shirt on but remains on the bed covers nonetheless. It seems like Nolan isn't too keen on putting a shirt on.
"So what's wrong?"
"Well...you know Liam...?"
"Yeah? What about him?"
"Well, the other day his mom may or may not have walked in on us."
"Oh no! Are you for real right now?"
"Yeah, though we weren't actually having sex. Anyway, doesn't matter, what matters is that she unfortunately didn't take it well. She threw me out of the house. I haven't heard of him since."
"Oh no, that's bad. Are his parents religious perhaps?"
"Kyle basically everyone is religious."
"Yeah but like are they fully religious?"
"Yeah...they are."
"So they didn't know."
"No"
"Well, this must be a shocker to her. I would like to say that she would eventually accept you guys but it doesn't seem like it's the case." Kyle says.
"Yeah, so you're saying he hasn't texted you at all?" Nolan asks.
"Yeah...he hasn't even read any of my messages. I'm worried..."
"We both know you are but it's normal. I mean I can't say anything about coming out since I still didn't come out to my parents." They both look at each other briefly.
"Does it say that he blocked you?"
"No why?"
"We never know. Her mom might have taken away his phone and blocked you because she probably doesn't want him to talk to you anymore."
"Yeah it makes sense but at least I haven't been blocked so that should be a good sign right?"
"Yeah but what are you gonna do about it?"
"Well, I can't do much really. I can't go to his house or else I'm dead. I probably won't be able to see him until the Holidays are over. That's what I'm scared about. I can't wait to see him till then. I miss him...I still have to use the present he gave me."
"And he gave you what?"
"Well, that will remain a secret," I smirk and Nolan stares at me annoyed.
"Awh...you're so unfair, Kenton."
"I know, I know. Another problem is that tomorrow I have to leave for Jack's chalet and the issue is that I asked him to come and he said yes. Well, that was before his mom caught us kissing."
"Oh, so what'd you gonna do about it?"
"Well, I'll go without him."
"Wait you can't let that happen."
"I really want him to come but if I don't get any news from him then it's a goner."
"I really didn't think you would have to deal with such a thing, especially during the Holidays. Doesn't his mom understand that it's the Holidays for Christ's sake?" Nolan says.
"Actually, maybe his mom wants him to stay home during the holidays to see some family, it happens, you know?" Kyle says.
"Makes sense but doubt it. Regardless, it's not like I can change anything."
"I really wish we could tell you something to help you out but unfortunately it seems like we can't help you."
"Yeah, thank you guys nonetheless. By the way, are you guys ever gonna tell Mom and Dad?"
"Ah...well about that..." They say nervously.
"So I guess they'll find out at your wedding?" They both blush.
"Hey! Take that back!"
"What? You guys are so in love with each other. What's wrong with marriage?"
"We'll think about it but for now let's focus on finishing College first."
"Yeah, Nolan's right."
"Don't take my jokes seriously. I was just joking."
"We know." We all start bursting into laughter.
I guess my brother and I really do still get along like the old days. The only difference is that his boyfriend is now in the mix.
I know it's too much to ask but maybe if everything works out with Leith we could be 4.

What the f**k, why did I just get an unknown message?
I often get those but why now? Hmm, what does it say through?
Unknown: Hey it’s Leith, this is my brother’s phone.
Kenton: Omg Leith is it really you?!
Leith: Yes...
Kenton: Omg are you alright?!
Leith: Well physically yes but mentally not too sure.
Kenton: Oh no what did they do to you?!
Leith: I prefer not to tell you.
Kenton: Oh...how come you’re only texting me via Cade’s phone now?
Leith: Well, it’s a long story.
Kenton: Can I call you?
Leith: No! Don’t. My parents can’t find out about this.
Kenton: Oh ok...I was hoping to hear your voice but I guess I’ll have to accept that I can’t right?
Leith: I doubt I will be able to text you again. It’s a miracle that my parents are not watching my every move right now. This is still Cade’s phone you know?
Kenton: Yeah, I know.
Leith: Do you miss me?
Kenton: Obviously I do, what kind of question is that?
Leith: Well, I don’t know what to ask you.
Kenton: Everything has been going great, well except for the part that my lover is or may be grounded right now.
Leith: Well to answer your question yes I am grounded but it’s more than that through.
Kenton: Did your mom take your phone away from you?
Leith: Yeah, she did. At least she’s not crazy enough to read my messages.
Kenton: Thank god.
Leith: So now what?
Kenton: Oh yeah I remembered something.
Leith: Oh yeah what?
Kenton: Tomorrow I’m leaving for Jack’s chalet.
Leith: Oh
Kenton: I don’t know if you remember but I invited you to come and you said yes.
Leith: Well I clearly can’t. I’m grounded...
Kenton: Well, you should find a way to sneak out.
Leith: Are you crazy?! My parents will kill me if I do that.
Kenton: It’s a too good opportunity to blow that up. I know things might be worse but at least you get to see me and the gang. I really miss you...
Leith: Oh gosh, you really are crazy Kenton. How can I escape my house for 3 days? They’ll surely find out. I’m gonna be dead meat.
Kenton: Look don’t do it if you don’t want to. I just think it’s so unfair what your parents are putting you through. I get that they don’t accept us okay, but stopping you from having a social life by grounding you is just too much. You know it’s not normal.
Leith: Yeah, I know but I can’t change anything.
Kenton: You probably can’t but you’re 17 Leith. You can’t let them rule your life forever. You get to make your own choices, so do what you want.
Leith: You are really making this decision harder than it should be.
Kenton: Well, I’m trying my best to make you change your mind. I rebel against my parents all the time you know.
Leith: Yeah but that’s because you’re carefree., I’m not you. You don’t care what other people think about you.
Kenton: That’s not true.
Leith: Yes it is. That’s what makes you, you Kenton.
Kenton: Are you considering my offer?
Leith: I really hate texting this but...yes I’ll come...
Kenton: You’re serious right?!
Leith: Yes...
Kenton: How will you manage to get out?
Leith: Well I know that it’s dangerous but below my window in my room there’s a roof. I could try getting out from there and jump out.
Kenton: Oh dang so this is serious.
Leith: I’m not joking. At what time do you plan on leaving tomorrow?
Kenton: We leave at around 9 a.m. It takes 2 hours to get there. Normally it’s Jack that brings us with his dad’s car but Sam got a car for his birthday. We won’t only be the 4 guys like we usually are.
Leith: So which car are you gonna be in?
Kenton: Sam’s. I guess you haven’t been allowed to text to your friend Matthew but he’s coming too so he’ll be in Sam’s car.
Leith: Oh ok. So does this mean, Kate and Jack are gonna be all alone in the other car?
Kenton: Well basically yes.
Leith: Oh wow...You’ll pick me up at 9?
Kenton: Yeah, pack your things up for tomorrow.
Leith: Yeah, yeah I already know.
Kenton: Can’t wait to see you!
Leith: Me too
Kenton: I hope Cade doesn’t see our texts unless you plan on telling him.
Leith: I won’t tell him. I’ll delete your contact so he doesn’t see it.
Kenton: Ok. See you tomorrow at 9!
Leith: See you tomorrow.
Gosh...I’m really putting Leith into trouble just because I want my lover back.
Regardless of that, I can’t wait to see Leith tomorrow even if it’s not in the best circumstances.
——————-
Omg, I’m so nervous. It’s already 9 am. We are already at Leith’s house. We parked the car a little further so their parents couldn’t see anything.
I’m currently waiting for Leith to come out behind a tree. Yes, I’m hiding behind a tree. Oh gosh, I hope everything works out. I can’t wait to see them.
Sam and Matthew have yet to know what’s happening so they are confused but they’ll know shortly.
Oh, I see them! Oh gosh, it looks so dangerous. Luckily there’s no snow or else Leith would have fallen. Oh, Leith has bags with them. Obviously dummy. Wait, I keep looking at them but there’s something that bugs me...what happened to Leith’s hair?! The hell?
I don’t have time to think as Leith gets there in no time and puts their bag in the back, then gets in the back of the car with me as we leave.
———————-
Well, things were quite awkward during the ride in Sam’s car. Leith wasn’t keen on telling me what happened but I guess they’ll tell me later. It was obvious Sam and Matthew wanted to ask questions but they decided against it.
Leith isn’t the only one that changed their hair. The only thing that brightened the mood of Leith other than me was seeing Matthew’s hair.
It seems like he dyed his hair black and has now another piercing on his lips. He already had a piercing on his nose but I never thought much of it.
Even if Leith isn’t the only one that changed something with their hair I doubt it was intentional. Something tells me there’s something more to it but I can’t press the issue.
I doubt Leith came here to talk about their problems. They came here to escape whatever is it that’s going on back home.
Anyway, we just arrived at Jack’s chalet. It seems like Jack and Kate are already here. Not surprised though but all I care about right now is that Leith is finally with me again and we can have some fun in Jack’s chalet with all my friends. Time for the getaway to begin!
