He didn’t get it. He knew that the moment Nox gave him a cheeky smile and adjustment tips.
“Laugh it up now will ya?” Castor was really embarrassed he got a few things wrong.
“Don’t worry, I just think its cute to see you so flustered.” Nox opened the door that lead out to a hallway. “Please behave. I’m responsible for you after all.”
Castor looked around the open hall, seeing banners of purple and silver dance in the brightly lit area. He was a bit amazed to see the area was a lot more open than the windowless room he had been held up in.
“I’ll be good.” He was intrigued by the vases that decorated the area. “And as a “Guest” here, is it possible to change rooms? I’d like to have a window.”
Nox nodded at that, thinking of what room he could put him in for the time being.
“Sorry about that and yes, we can get you a bigger room too.” He looked very apologetic. “That room was for everyone’s safety.” He laughed a little. “I didn’t know if you would try to escape or not from the window….” He eyed him a bit. “Can I trust you now for that to not happen?”
“I won’t run….” Castor was kinda hurt by those words, even if they were true at the time. “Besides, you haven’t done anything to me were I should worry about my well being….” He felt a little guilty.
“Are the rumors about the Moon people that bad?” Nox mused, watching as the Sun Prince nodded at that. “Well, the Moon are known to cause….some problems.” He sighed heavily at that. “I just wish it wasn’t my older brother who caused these problems...” Castor knew what he as talking about.
“The first crown prince, Richard Von.” He looked distant at that. “He’s a political prisoner in our kingdom…”
“And for what he did, he has every right to be there.” Nox wasn’t trying to excuse his brother behavior. “Mind you, the Sun Princess wasn’t so innocent either…” He could see he hit a soar part.
“Leave my sister out of this…” It was cold and biting.
“Noted not to bring her up.” Nox seemed a bit hurt by that tone. He pushed passed his discomfort and pushed over another set of doors, leading to the outdoors. “I hadn’t intended to make you angry….”
Castor didn’t say anything, he just kept his jaw tight. If anything, he felt like an ass for how defensive he was. After all, Nox said was the truth. His sister was part of the problem that happened nearly 4 years ago.
He needed to clear his mind before he met the Moon Queen. He didn’t want to give a bad impression.
As they walked a little further, Castor was in a bit of awe. The garden was surrounded by a beautiful glass dome.
“This is the Queens’s Green House. It’s used to keep plants safe from the elements and a place to keep cool in the summer.” Nox waved his hand around. “The area gets snow more often than the north, so we made do with what we have.”
“I know what a Green House is…” He now knew Nox was just messing with him when he gave him a playful smile.
“Just checking to see if you could still talk.”
“You little….”
Nox’s walked a bit faster, grabbing the elegant door handle that lead into the green house. He walked in, Castor not far behind him.
“Mother, we are here!” Nox called out, guiding Castor to the table they were all to sit at.
The Sun Prince looked in awe at the plants around him and the food that was before him.
“This place….” As he looked around, his eyes fell upon a beautiful woman, her brown hair and striking green eyes gave her a youthful appearance. She wore what looked like clothes one would wear for working in the garden. “Ah, hello Miss…”
Nox took a seat, rolling his eyes as the woman laughed at being called “Miss” and taking her own seat.
“Please have a seat Prince Castor.” She sat down, looking over at Nox. “I hope my son has been taking care of you?”
Castor sat down, a bit shocked to see the woman before him was the Queen.
“Please forgive me, Queen Terria.” He glanced over at Nox then back over at the Queen. “I expected…”
“You expected us to look similar right?” The Queen grabbed her tea cup, drinking the tea she had poured before deciding to work around the area. She was being amused by his confusion.
“The Queen isn’t my mother by birth but she is my mother, none the less.” Nox still saw Castor was lost and confused. He glanced over at his mother, whom was all ears, wondering how her son would talk about this “matter.” After all, it tended to come up from time to time. “My father...the King...made a mista….”
“Had a human moment after the death of his First Queen Selen.” Queen Terria grabbed for a cookie, looking at her son who smiled softly at her. “This was long before I was married to be the next Queen.” She glanced over at Castor, her expression growing really cold. “Do you have anymore questions on this matter and care to move on?”
“Yes, Queen Terria….” Castor looked over at Nox, who sucked on his lips to stop from laughing. He quickly changed the subject. “Your garden here is very well taken care of. I have never seen these plants here so huge.”
Terria seemed to be pleased by that. Plants were one of her hobbies.
“Yes, this place was built for me when I longed for home.” She took another sip of tea. “Please do eat, our lunch will be here shortly and the cookies won’t spoil your apatite.” She watched as Castor nodded, seemingly not wanting to cause the Queen even more anger towards him. Her attention was dragged away when she heard the garden door open again. She grinned, calling out, her voice was soft and almost sang. “Dani, I’m here!”
“Mama!” A little boy ran in, running passed the two older prince’s into his mother’s arms. He was easily lifted and held tight. Nox rolled his eyes as he started eating some snacks. Dani turned, looking over at Castor and Nox, whom were watching out of bordom. Out of curiosity he pointed at Castor. “Who are you?”
Castor smiled, pointing at himself.
“I’m just a special guest here.” He looked over at Nox and the Queen. “Your family has been taking good care of me.”
Dani, turned his attention towards Nox, who was resting his elbow on the table.
“Is this why you haven’t come to read me books in awhile?” Dani frowned, upset someone was taking his time away from his older brother. The Queen shook her head.
“Now now, Nox has responsibility's too you know.” She looked rather hurt. “Don’t you like it when mama reads to you….?” Children could be so honest at times.
“Please forgive me, Prince Dani.” Castor lowered his head to the young prince. “ Your brother has been showing me around your wonderful Kingdom.” He glanced over at Nox, flashing him a smile at the white lie. “When I return home, I’m sure he will return to reading you stories again.”
Dani, who’s forest green eyes, matched that of his mothers, but his dark hair was out of place, seemed to fall for those words.
“Okay….” He glanced over at Nox. “But don’t forget me…”
“I’d never forget you Dani.” He crossed his arms. “How about next time when I’m in the kitchen, we can cook together?”
Dani nodded at that, happy to know his brother would have his attention again. It was then, the boys eyes lit up. The cook walked in, with maids at his side.
“Lunch is ready, My Queen.” The cook announced.
The Queen nodded, glancing at the men before her.
“Let’s eat!”
