“Uhhh, I’m so full…” Castor held his stomach. “How are you not fat? That food its just way too good.”
“I normally eat in moderation but my mother kept putting food on my plate.” Nox replied with some honesty. “I wasn’t expecting Dani to be there, it was a nice surprise.”
The walk back to the windowless room was a slow one, as neither really wanted to head in that direction. The small talk helped with the pace.
“He’s very fond of you.” He grinned. “From what I’ve seen so far, you have a very loving family.”
Nox glanced away, holding one of his arms and blushing.
“It always wasn’t like that….” Nox yawned a bit, the food was making him tired, more chatty. “But it’s better now…”
Castor didn’t know if he was prying, but he was curious.
“So, how did you come into the Royal Family?” He watched as Nox pondered that question before taking a deep sigh.
“When the 2nd Prince, Derek Von was born, the Queen Selen died during child birth.” Castor listened in silence, watching as the 3rd Prince spoke of his past. “My mother was a commoner, whom had given birth to a stillborn child. She had offered her services to care for the new born Prince….” Nox smiled at what memories of his real mother that he had and the stories he heard from others. “For two years she stayed in the Palace, taking care of Derek. The King had asked her what she had wanted in return and all she replied was that she wanted a child of her own.”
“I see he took her up on that offer himself.” Castor poked the man in the arm, who batted it away.
“So the King granted her wish and sent her on her way.” Nox thought fondly of his mother. “She really wasn’t interested in being married, nor did she care for any titles. So with my mother, I was able to grow carefree and happy….” Nox saw Castor was growing irritated. “Is something wrong?”
“I can’t believe he sent her on her way like that. A woman alone, with child!” Castor wondered what the King was really like. His anger turned to confusion as Nox laughed.
“Oh, my mother was far from alone.” He wondered how to word his thoughts. “My mother interest wasn’t men.” He laughed a bit harder. “I guess you could say, the Queen really is my third mother.”
“So you were raised by two women?” Castor was a bit confused. “Were they daughter and mother? Or sisters?”
Castor was really thick headed.
“No, they were lovers.”
“Lovers?”
Nox knew the Sun Kingdom wasn’t that open for same gendered relations. Be it, it wasn’t that much open here in the Moon Kingdom, it was accepted because the Moon Kingdom believed love ruled all, regardless of ones origin.
“Don’t think too hard on it. It was a long time ago.” He was almost happy to see that door before him. “Looks like we are here…”
Castor looked upset to see it.
“So do I get a new room tomorrow?” He crossed his arms, not really wanting to be left alone in there again.
“Yes, there will be a new room for you tomorrow.” He pushed opened the door, leading the way for Castor to follow. He saw that Nox had grown silent, wondering if he had said something he shouldn’t have on their talks. “Do you have to leave so soon?”
“Not really, I don’t have anything planned as of yet.”
“Then come play some card games with me! I found some when searching the place.” He beamed, going to the dresser that was in the room.
Nox sighed, closing the door behind him, leaving it ajar so he wouldn’t get locked in.
“Yeah, I’m game.” He made his way over to the bed to relax for a bit, watching as Castor rummaged around in that mess he had. He yawned again, this time feeling his eyes fail him. He felt no need to fight them either.
“There they are, hey Nox, found them….” Castor turned around, seeing Nox had drifted off into a quick slumber. “Really?” His eyes fell on the door left ajar. In the back of his head, he heard a voice telling him to walk out and just go. It was the perfect chance to do so.
With a deep breath he shook that thought out of his head and placed the cards down. He made his way over to the bed as well and laid down on it, careful not to wake the sleeper.
“A nap wouldn’t hurt either….” He reached down, pulling at the blankets he had kicked off earlier and covered them both up. Castor relaxed, looking at the sleeping face before him and smiled. “Sweet Dreams.”
And he too, fell asleep.
