⚜ Ambrose ⚜

The next day after breakfast Ambrose was organizing the documents and making new ones while also finding solutions to the problems he needed to solve. Lucian had offered to help, so he was also reviewing some documents sent by Anneliese regarding the current problems in the kingdom alongside Evander who was lying down on the desk

“I think our best choice here is to solve the problem with my kingdom so we can help you” Lucian who was sitting on the floor leaning on the legs of the chair placed the documents on the floor and sighed

“Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking… actually I was planning on using the summer festival as a way to formally invited them to a banquet” Ambrose who was lying down on the floor with his legs leaning on the side of the desk and using Lucian’s legs as a pillow placed the documents he was holding on his chest

“That sounds good, but wouldn’t that also bring worse things? Like some parts of the kingdom are starting to starve and suddenly there royal family are hosting a banquet only for the nobles?” Evander fixed the pillow under his head that he grabbed from the sofa

“That’s when this helps us out” Ambrose held a paper up and Lucian grabbed it

Lucian stared at the handwriting with a surprise face, he couldn’t believe that a guy could have such a beautiful handwriting

“Ah so you plan on making a march after, delivering supplies and also taking notes on how to help” Lucian nodded “Well if we can get my stubborn brother to agree with us, then this plan can be really successful”

“Yes, but right now while we get things ready for Kavan we need to organize the nobles”

“Based on the reports sent by my wife, there has been some illegal things going on underground” Evander smirked “Well people do say that when the cat’s away, the mice will play”

“And unfortunately for them, the cat that has returned is a bloodthirsty lion” Ambrose chuckled while Lucian shook his head

The three men had moved from the desk to the sofa and armchairs, Evander was laying down on the sofa with Ambrose sitting on the other end with Evander’s legs on his lap. Lucian was sitting on the armchair with his legs on the coffee table. There was a quick knock then Dilara entered while eating a cupcake

She smiled while shaking an envelope “I got it!”

“Where does such a beauty come from?” Lucian smiled

“Why?” Dilara smiled while leaning forward toward Lucian

Lucian clearly mesmerized answered slowly “So I can go thank them for creating you”

“Ugh disgusting” She slap him with the envelope and walked towards Ambrose

Lucian stared at her while rubbing his cheek, she only stuck out her tongue and smiled before turning towards Ambrose

“Dilara, I’m so proud of you… thanks” Ambrose opened the enveloped

“Also I heard that some nobles were going to be having a secret meeting in the tea house at midnight tonight and I already notified Duchess Anneliese about it” She smiled proudly

Ambrose look up at her with a smile “Dilara you are as always such an amazing person”

“Is there something else you need your majesty?” Dilara said shyly, she loved getting complimented by Ambrose

“Please bring snacks and drinks, also I already notified the head maid that you are my only exclusive maid and to also increase your salary” Ambrose winked

Dilara covered her mouth “Oh your majesty! Thank you so much!” She ran towards the door before opening it she turned towards the three of them her “I’ll make you the best cookies ever!” 

As Dilara opened the door she met Arabella who rolled her eyes annoyed “Move” She whispered

“Such a rude woman, no wonder his majesty is tired of her” Dilara murmured loud enough for her to hear

Arabella glared at her before smiling brightly and running towards Ambrose “Hi! Did you miss me? I know you did!” She hugged him from behind and gave him a gentle kiss on his neck

Ambrose stared at Lucian trying to get his help since Evander had decided to play the man sleeping with a paper on his face game. Lucian smiled mischievously “I been wanting to ask about your necklace…it seems quite special”

Arabella smiled “I gave it to him as a birthday present, it’s a green daylily” She tapped under her eye with one finger “Green like my eyes and also daylilies are my favorite flowers, that’s why I chose that pendant so he be always reminded of me”

Lucian frowned confused “Hmm that’s weird…it’s actually a rose, a red one to be exact”

“No it’s not” Arabella reached for the necklace and when she confirmed what Lucian said was true she gasped “Why…Where did the daylily go? Who gave this to you?!” Her voice tremble due to her panic

Ambrose slowly pulled the necklace and sighed “I…Arabella we need to talk, we can’t continue like this” Ambrose organized the papers he was holding and put them aside on a stack

Lucian stood up and walked towards the sofa, Ambrose stood up and moved aside. “I’ll take him with me” He smiled before grabbing Evander’s ankles and pulling off the sofa, he dragged him slowly out of the room.

Arabella moved to sit on the couch, and she was followed by Ambrose who sat in front of her in the coffee table

“Arabella when I left this palace a couple of months ago, I thought you were the one for me…I had really strong feelings for you but as time passed I began to notice that you weren’t the person I thought you were but also that my feelings for you weren’t more than a childhood crush…Think about it, we had grown together with the idea that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together because that was what everyone wanted”

“What do you mean? I have always been sincere...we made promises, you said you loved me a lot of times or…was that a lie?” Her green eyes started to show signs of tears

“I won’t lie to you, I still have feelings for you but they are slowly fading…I just don’t see a future with you anymore and I hope we can move on without any resentments” Ambrose sighed “You deserve someone better, it was clear to everyone but us that we weren’t meant to be together and I'm starting to see that they were right”

Arabella started laughing while crying “Yeah this not you…it’s her, that woman has put a spell on you or something” She got up, she looked like she was going to go insane “You are just confused sweetheart, you’ll see that once we spend more time together everything will go back to normal…We will love each other and get married”

She patted his head and left. Ambrose opened and closed his mouth, he was speechless. Suddenly Lucian placed his hands on his shoulders scaring him

“So how did it go? Are you finally free from the raven with green eyes?”

“Nope, actually she just became more obsessed” Ambrose sighed “Also, where’s Evander?”

“He went to his room, he got a message from his wife” Lucian straighten himself

Ambrose frowned “How did you know that there’s someone else in my life now?”

Lucian let go of Ambrose, moved to the side and walked towards the armchair chair to sit there “I notice by the way you look at her and the way you react to her gestures…It’s not the same as before, there is no more heart eyes or warm smiles” He pointed at the necklace ”Besides now you tend to space out with a smile in your face while touching that necklace which gave me the confirmation because of the pendant which led me to two things" He raised two fingers "Either you have new feelings for someone or you are being a disgusting weirdo”

“Ugh…I can’t let anybody know about her existence” Ambrose ruffled his hair and hid his face on his hands

“Why not? A lot of nobles are still expecting you to marry besides wouldn’t that actually help you? Even if she is a commoner, the nobles wouldn’t oppose if she is a good person that is willing to put the kingdom first”

“If I planned to stay in power yes, but since I will be retuning the crown I can’t risk putting her life more in danger”  

“What do you mean by that?” Lucian frowned

Ambrose leaned forward and whispered “She’s not human”
