In the middle of the night, I woke up in a cold sweat. I looked around, realizing I didn’t know where to go. I went to the one place I knew was safe, the cherry blossom tree. I pictured the tree in my mind. The familiar scent of the tree invaded my nose.
I curl up under the tree. Calmness overtook my brain as my thoughts were claimed by my last dream.
It was spring. At least I think it is. The lukewarm air brushed past. A young girl with white skin and pink hair walked past me. A boy with tan flesh and black hair caught the girl's hand as they crossed paths.
They did a short dance full of spins and fancy footwork. It took me a moment to realize that these two beautiful dancing beings were my parents and the performance was just for me.
As their dance came to an end, I could feel the air whipping at my frame but I could not feel the cold nip the wind normally carries. “We did good. I think we will win this year,” my father whispered to my mother.
Just as my mother went to respond, a loud shot rang out and then another. I watched as my parents fell to the cold hard ground. I tried to move but it was as if someone was holding me in place. At that point, I woke up.
Tears stream down my face and onto the soil. Not wanting to scare Emma with thoughts of me running away, I head back to the Mighter realm. I tried to find it in me to sleep but I couldn’t. The only thing that my mind was set on doing was running.
I slink down the steps of the pouch. “Where are you going?” a voice said. I jumped as I looked over to see Emit sitting in one of the chairs. “I was going to go for a run.”
“Can I come with you?” he asked, getting up. “Sure, I guess,” I said, walking down. He got up and followed me. I started to jog. I knew the best way for me to get to know somewhere new was to run around the realm till I couldn’t run anymore.
We ran for about 3 hours. The sun was just starting to come up behind the house as we got back to Emit’s house. The second my foot hits the top step, I hear Emit laugh behind me. I turned around, “What’s so funny?”
