The True Colours of an Empire_Ch:1_Dragonborn 9

“I need to reach the people first. Perhaps they can use our language enough to trick Drachma.”

The two slaves arrive at a dead end. The female one knocks over a trash can trying to catch her balance. “Brother, it stings,” she says, laying on the ground in front of her brother.

Drachma arrives at the alleyway. Iriel, rounding the corner, stops behind Drachma to see the situation.

“You tow, I admit, you really made this bunch of old bones run. I’m ordered to bring you in alive. But they never said that you needed to be in one piece.”

Stepping forward, the female slave picks up her gun. Iriel comes out from hiding to stop Drachma’s attempt but gets shot on the shoulder.

Meadow overhears some civilians saying, “A wall of lighting! Those bastards are trying to kill us!”

Flying past the civilian from goat lineage he also hears, “What are those two doing?”

As another one says, “Hopefully, things can still be settled with words.”

Iriel, reacting to the pain, halts on her feet. She clutches her wound. Her blood, leaking out through the fingers, and sliding down her arm, keeps falling to the ground.

The male slave begins to wave his hands, generating powerful lightning from his body. Drachma takes the opportunity to rush into the fight. The lighting formed in the slave's hands explodes into a truly impressive display of power. The skies begin to darken, and crackles of lighting appear.

Meadow, looking at the dark sky, "What the f**k is going on!?"

A gunshot is fired and its sound helps Meadow find the location of Drachma and Iriel. As he starts to fly over the buildings, toward the location, he hears a voice from between the crowd under him, "MEADOW!" Looking down he sees Eliel, running behind him through the crowd of people.

They arrive at the location and see Iriel kneeling behind a dumpster.

Seeing the two blue, scaly slaves, Meadow pauses for a moment. Standing there in shock, he sees that Iriel was shot on the shoulder and transformed Drachma is rushing towards the slaves. He throws the net targeting the female and starts to drag her towards himself. The slave girl kicks the net in vain attempts to get out of it. At last, after failing ample times, she starts screaming helplessly, "BROTHER! HELP ME!" This makes not only the three heroes but also the ‘All-known-about-slaves’ Drachma, take a pause. He even stops dragging the net for a few moments.

"Well, well, would you look at that…" Drachma speaks as he starts pulling the net again. Eliel comes and helps Drachma pull the woman toward them, while Meadow rushes to Iriel to help her heal her wound. He pours some magic from his hands. His magic gets mixed with Iriel's magic and the magic flow becomes stronger and starts working faster. Slowly, the bullet begins to come out and the wound starts to heal. The wound is still visible but isn’t bleeding anymore. The lines of blood on her skin also start to dry up.

Eliel, standing beside Drachma, readies his weapon to start fighting. His hands are shaking so violently as he holds the sword. He starts breathing heavily in panic, barely even able to move his body forward, and starts screaming as he forces his body to run towards the magic user.

As the male slave screams out, "DULRIK!" the sky almost turns black. The alley begins emitting a slow-rising hum. The eyes and fangs of the slave start glowing in bright blue. With a thunderous roar, a massive bolt of lightning crashes down from the sky, blinding people around for a moment. The weather starts to become hot, and the air chokes the group.

There is an empire called Khecasha, full of happiness and prosperity. The people of this empire were very kind and simple...except the fact that they could use magic. Some beautiful magic such as flourishing flowers, some admirable ones like healing, and some deadly ones that can turn you into corpse in a heartbeat. Living peacefully with these amazing magics as a part of their life, they were happy.

But, is this happiness forever to last?
