Kareena is an HR Trainer by profession. She goes to colleges, companies and gives placement training or office etiquette or motivation training to the people. Often her training sessions go online. And sometimes she has to go to the field so she stays at home almost the whole day and parties at night. There is another means of earning for Kareena. She is also part time a famous anonymous web novel author. Other than Muskan no one knows about this part of her life.
After Muskan left for office, Kareena was lazing around the hall when she got a call from someone familiar to her.
"Hello Auntie. How are you?"
"I'm fine dear. How's everything there? How are you both?"
Muskan's mother called Kareena to inquire about the well-being of her two children.Though Kareena was not her real daughter, their friendship gave Muskan’s parents another daughter. Her relationship with her parents was not good because they broke up when she was a kid and she was forced to stay with her grandma as none of her parents were not ready to keep her with them. But they would send her expenses every month without fail, so she had no problem while growing up. After her Grandma’s death during her college days, Muskan’s parents were her biggest emotional support.
Mrs. Singh, Muskan’s mom, was always worried about them. As her daughters, who left her home 10 years ago, have not returned home properly till date. Occasionally, they would visit them but never stayed in that city for more than a day. Kareena was the only way to get news about Muskan. And she was also the only person who knew the reason why she never stayed in that city for long in these past 10 years.
"She's fine Auntie. She left for the office just now."
Kareena did not have the courage to tell the story of the night. Other than 2 things she would share every single detail about Muskan to her parents.
One, about the reason why she doesn't want to visit that city and the other was also related to this.
Muskan reached her office as early as possible. In absence of CEO Vishal, the entire responsibility of his company was on her shoulders. She reached her office building in 45 minutes and ran to the meeting room.
Exhausted from the rush, Muskan took a long breath outside the meeting room for two seconds and composed herself. As soon as the door opened, everyone's attention fell on her. Her colleagues felt relieved when they saw her.
"I'm sorry for the delay." She professionally apologized for the delay.
Everyone was well seated in the meeting room, facing towards each other. But there was one chair which was tilted towards the screen. He was looking at the screen very keenly and was observing the facts and figures displayed on the screen. It was learned from her co-workers that the person on that chair was the deputy CEO and the person in charge of their project.
When that chair turned towards her, Muskan’s eyes remained wide open. What happened she had never even dreamed of. Jai was sitting on that chair, in that position.
