Making his way discreetly to the doors at the stables, he whispered a spell as he whirled his staff. "ἀόρατος (Atomos)," An ancient advanced spell that can cause invisibility temporarily as it drains considerable energy from the caster. It's his first time casting such a spell; it worked, himself looking astonished. He looked to the windows to see if more guards were encircling his home. One by one, he saw them going back and forth, not long before his front door was forced open. Immediately he makes haste through the front door instead as he took it to account to devise less suspicion.
"Verbrecher! Thee Criminal has escaped!" The front guard yelled as the nearby crowd adverts its gaze to Mr. Schuster's home. The guards immediately spread out to find the missing wizard. As Mr. Schuster made his way outside of the town, carefully not bumping into any person or things he came past. As he reached the end of the borough leading to the woods, the clouds started to darken, ready to pour.
One last time he looked back at his old borough, hearing the skepticism and fear of ones he called as friends and neighbors. The imperial army and the church only inflict disarray amongst its habitants. His face was sullen yet determined for his freedom as he closed his fist close to his heart. The ambiance of the surrounding felt eldritch as the forest animals ran through hiding as the rain poured.
In the woods, he saw a young pale-skinned maiden with brunette brown hair a little wavy on its ends and eyes dark as obsidian, sitting on a big stone, tired she may be, wearing a used yellow surcoat and a dark brown girdle, and a calfskin shoe, as she holds her white bonnet in her left hand. Mr. Schuster walked in front of the young maiden cautiously approached as the spell he cast on himself dissolved.
"Are you well?" he said with care, not long after the young maiden replied.
"Who're you? What ought to reason seeing you in this dwindle of woods?" with her voice quavered as she tentatively speaks. Mr. Schuster leaned on the tree, weary, he seemed. He senses the worry of the young maiden seeing her fingers fidgets and by the speak of her tone. "I'm just like you, which is why I fled here." He said to reassure and to trust her.
"Wha- what do you mean, you're just like me?" She stuttered, and her voice sounded understanding, crossing her arms as if she was covering something to Schuster.
Schuster showed his staff and tapped it into the ground, making the fallen leaves float gently as the leaves encircled them. "Will that suffice?" He smiled as he stood up. The young maiden was shocked but wasn't
afraid as she felt reassured by Mr. Schuster. "I thought I got caught up. Gladly, I bumped into you." She stands up as well, slightly bowing as she smiles.
"I'm Agata, Agata Augustyn." she humbly introduces herself. I was the only surviving family after we got prosecuted on the run." her tone saddens as she talks about her story for quite a while, considering it as a rest before they embark together.
As it turns dusk, they make out of the woods. Occasionally, they talk about their life and things related to magic... The family of Augustyn was unwealthy and poor but was rich with wisdom and knowledge for craftmanship; Aldo the Augustyn was famed for bravery and diligence. Agata herself was the only soft person who wouldn't even dare to hurt a little fly. She was justly knowledgeable in terms of wizardry and was able to craft magical items. The only thing she salvaged in her dire escape was an old scroll of compiled blueprints that her father entrusted her in his last breath. Sorrowly, she explained that even if she has the capability to make this craftmanship in the name of servile arts, there was no use to continue in works of the enchanting foundation. One might not know for the time being; certainly, be used, for a great cause in their world.
A few miles away, they saw a man in his early 20's being tied up by the guards near a river. The sunstroke caused such heat in the middle of the afternoon. It seemed he got caught trying to flee on his caravan. "Now pay for what you've done, Criminal." A soldier stood in front of him, pointing his sword agitatedly in an arrogant tone. Agata and Mr. Schuster immediately hid as they talked about the man apprehended by the guards. A few moments later, the young man threw a potion on the five guards that caught him quickly. They felt drowsy and asleep as they slowly fell on the ground one by one.
The young man caught the two hiding from the bushes and immediately said hello. "I felt the presence of you two while I got caught by these pesky varmints." as he babbles on how annoying and draggy the soldiers are.
"I wouldn't even ask, from how worn you two out, from traveling. I already got the feeling that you might want to join my stead." Nonchalant, the young man spoke, spinning a pink potion on his hand. Agata pointed to the soldiers who were sleeping on the ground. "Are they dead?" she uttered, seemingly concerned.
"And so far, you see what I did. Do you plan to do the same, as the guards did?" Agata crossed her arms for comfort upon hearing the young man's response. "Of course not. I can’t bear to witness such tragedy once again." She mumbled as she averts her gaze to the plains across the river.
"Well then, hop on in my caravan. We shouldn't stay here much longer. The Church and the Imperial have already put bounties for the names of witches and wizards they bring in the list." He goes in front of the caravan, setting up the horse.
Mr. Schuster And Agata looked at each other and nodded. Schuster helped Agata into the caravan as he held her hands as an accompany. Agata grasped her worn dress by her right hand and held Schuster's to the left as she climbed with ease. Mr. Schuster then followed as he suspired, tired with their journey.
"In a closer look, isn't that you, Mr. Aldous B. Schuster, the renowned wizards in Brandenburg, famous for being a doyen caster in sorcery, but only known as a healer by the locals. The young man playfully expresses his words as he made the horse canters moving the loaded caravan.
Mr. Schuster left in awe of the young man knowing his name. Agata, a sheltered young maiden, hasn't been familiar with wizards who are famous in her time. Quickly it sparked her interest upon hearing he was an "infamous" type of person.
*The man I have been traveling with is an infamous wizard? * bewildered yet amazed, as she gazed upon Mr. Shuster, who was looking at the young man chasing the caravan. The weather was appalling that day. It was calm and breezily as the roads they traveled were deserted. Nonetheless, they did not let their guards down, for they are now considered fugitives.
"So, what about you?" The young man's eye looked at Agata in a mere span of seconds before looking back on the road.
Agata leaned as she introduced herself. "So, your family name is Augustyn." He stated as he wondered if he ever knew or known them by their surname.
"You're not around here. Guess, you fled and went on your way in this region." Agata nodded as the young man looked back at her. "I asked too much, didn’t I? To be fair, I shall introduce myself. Cholmondeley, Alfred." blithely speaking. "Since I met Mr. Schuster, I switched my plans. And Agata, you are more welcome to follow," he said while he whistles.
Both Mr. Schuster and Agata raised their question on what he meant by a change of plans. Alfred just smiled as he hummed before answering. "Don't worry. There's no harm in that latter. You'll see once we get there." he proposed. On their way to the place, Alfred is leading. An imperial scout hastily informed the army that he saw a caravan with suspicious people inside it. Not too long, Agata noticed a group of men riding their horses was swarming to them at such speed. Upon surmise, Agata informed Schuster and Alfred about the group of men following them. They looked back after seeing in a distance. The Imperial army was following their trail at an alarming rate as the men shouted horrendously, "Huzzah! A group of felonious wikkjaz! off with thy head of thy devils!"
Mr. Schuster tapped Alfred's shoulder about the soldiers gaining on them. Schuster then picked up his staff and went to the middle of the caravan. He mumbled a spell as he aimed it at the gaining army.
*I'm not sure if this will work out, as I have long stopped using such ancients’ spells when I moved on Brandenburg. * he thought, as he stared at the galloping horses of the men. "Nyktalopsia ephēmérios!" said in an audacious tone. The staff lit a warm light, and in the guise of seconds, the men ridings their horses fell off.
The men shouted in anguish, for they can't see that their whole world turns black. The horses ran in different locations after the men fell off to them. "Ubil! The demonic wizards have cursed us!" They continue anguish and fret amongst their surroundings. Agata was impressed yet scornful at the same time. Mr. Schuster then looked for them with a vague sense of remorse as he sat back on the plank. Alfred cheerily praised him as he followed. "Thou art managed to set them back. We cannot dilly-dally!" earnestly he said.
Alfred whipped the horse as it galloped at a fast speed. "We cannot stray on these roads much longer..." He added. The goods in the caravan jumped up and down as the horse started to gallop. Agata and Mr. Schuster inside felt grasping on to a hard thing for balance. Agata questioned Alfred as she still did not know where they were heading.
As the caravan shook, leaning to the right then to the left, their travel ahead was bumpy and uncomfortable. "We are heading to Zugspitze, so to speak." in a candid tone.
Mr. Schuster asked about the reason for heading to such mountainous land while Agata looked towards them, a sudden thought flung inside her head. She abruptly interrupted Schuster, expressing her idea. "Does that place hold some kind of special ancient realm?" we can reopen the secret passage of the lost realm of "Hirngespinst," mumbled as he pointed to a small opening between the two ridges on a mountain.
Mr. Schuster was quite hesitant as he told Alfred that he stopped practicing ancient magic. Alfred persuaded him that it is never too late to try. "Just focus and set your mind to it." He sat on a big stone as he continued to talk. "If I remember of what my great uncle said, the phrase is something like " Aἀva σh dēore Dʰéǵʰōm…" the young man stuttered. Ought he does not remember the next phrase of the said spell, and even so, he wasn't well versed in the sorcery of ancient magic.
Mr. Schuster then followed "Aἀva σh dēore Dʰéǵʰōm, lassen uns im und licht das hat verloren Welt. "
There they saw a blue kindled light going through the said passage. The three wizards were bewildered at what they saw. The entry to the realm was no lore nor' legend at all. "Are we safe now?" Agata asked the two men as they followed the light. Shuster shrugged yet amazed, while Alfred nodded and smiled.
The three continued walking through the passage between the two mountains. Soon they reached the block of the mountain opening as if there was a secret cave as the blue light guided them till the end of the course. Ought to remember that this is just the beginning, as it will build the path of a young child named "Walter." Hence at every end of the story, there is a beginning. A new journey is bound to foretell.
