"I'm going to be late." I shrieked. It was my first day at the new magic academy. I didn't own a broom so I would have to walk. "I really need to get one soon." I said talking to myself. Grabbing my spell book and shoving it into my messenger bag, I made my way for the door. It was the beginning of a beautiful day outside. Spring has finally reached our cozy town. I sprinted out the door and headed down the path. Going through the market would be a straight shot. Except it was always extremely busy. I began to sweat a little as I ran. I stopped abruptly once I reached the busy intersection. People were haggling the merchants. It was an exciting vision to see. I almost got caught up in it when I reminded myself, I was going to be late.
I kept up my usual pace diving in between the crowds. I didn't want to run into anyone. That would be quite rude. "Hey, would you like to try our fresh and crisp apples? Or maybe our delicious juicy peaches filled with flavor?" The old lady beckoned behind her stall. "Maybe next time. Tomorrow is definite." I was already planning to go through this place tomorrow. I felt addicted to the excitement of the crowd. All while weaving around each other to get the best deal. I finally made it to the school gate. The headmaster was standing there with a scowl on her face. "Late on the first day. What's your name?" "Veronica." I said back in a meek tone. "Well get along. You have to get to your first class. You don't want to keep them waiting any longer." I walked at a brisk pace down the hallway. I checked my schedule and found the assigned classroom. I had already missed home room where I would be able to meet people. Maybe I could make some new friends anyways.
Since I moved here, I wasn't too familiar with the area until a month ago. Still, I didn't know all the best spots to have lunch or pick up ingredients for spells. The door stood ajar. I quickly took the first open seat I saw and set down my bag. "Late." The professor said while he checked off a clipboard. Then he went off with his lesson. We were learning the most basic spells. I wasn't the best at it, so I appreciated how he explained it in detail.
