Three days passed. Both of the strangers waited in anticipation as Saturday slowly shifted from day to night. The Starman stepped out of their apartment and into the fluorescent-lit hallway, which revealed their outfit. A tight-fitting black leather jacket, underneath which sat a baggy t-shirt, along with a pair of checkered black and white pants. A pair of perfectly round, blue-tinted glasses hid their eyes. When it came to meetings with Selene, the eccentric stranger knew to come prepared. The straggler checked their satchel as they made their way to the elevator. Inside, a notebook, a pen, 3 floppy disks, a small palmtop computer, and a matching disk drive.
The Starman walked out of the run-down apartment complex, and across to the sidewalk of 15th Street, which was bathed in the twilight of 11:00 PM. They walked for about 20 minutes before arriving at their destination. The Woodrow mall was quite a large building, located on 19th and Boole. The mall was mainly constructed from metals and concrete. It had three stories, and had a large glass dome in the center top of the mall. A few minutes passed; at exactly 11:30, another figure walked their way down the sidewalk from the other side. The beams of light from the mall's sign illuminated the woman that was walking towards the Starman.
She was relatively short, and wore a black vest that sparkled ever so slightly like starlight on top of a white button-up shirt. Her hair, royal lavender, with a single lock flowing its way down right beside her nose; small, red-rimmed round glasses sat in front of her eyes, along with a pair of black slacks, and white point-toe shoes.
"I hope you're ready to see something spectacular, Ken." she said, chuckling a bit as she walked close to the frizzy stranger.
"When am I not?" Ken retorted, giving a jovial laugh as the two stood in front of each other. The mood quickly dropped its joking tone as Selene spoke again.
"Please, come with me." She said in a much more serious tone as she led Ken over to the street corner just to the west of the mall. It was quite a plain street, no other recognizable shops or buildings were present nearby, aside from a small post office.
Ken followed eagerly as Selene stopped at a crosswalk, the corner of 20th and Boole. Selene turned to face him, before pulling a coin out of her vest pocket. Ken looked at the coin for a few moments, before looking at the array of buildings that vanished over the horizon past the crosswalk.
"Nothing left to do but to try it I suppose.." Selene muttered, looking down at the coin. She quickly took one half of it in each hand, and bent the coin slightly with all the strength she could muster. It was now bent about fifteen degrees in the middle, creating a crescent-like shape. Ken gave a puzzled look to Selene as she now held the coin in her right hand. She gave a halfhearted grin towards him as she threw the coin across the street.
