My heart leaped from my chest as the strange person turned the corner. His stature and physical features were that of a human teenager. However, his eyes were that of a demon. Not one speck of white was shown, only red, the same deep red from the orb. He must be the one that the monsters feared. “Well, where is the orb?” He asked again.
Footsteps echoed down the cave walls. Master and Jonah yell something mixed with the screams of monsters. The red eye moved closer to us; he looked right at us. I felt Marcia moving away from him. He lifted his hand. Then with one swift move, it pierced through the air. Blood appeared around his hand, and Marcia coughed up blood.
The spell on her faded, and she slowly became visible. I placed my hands over her chest. Blood spilled onto the floor.
“No!” Jonah yelled out. He swung at the red-eyed guy, missing. He attacked wildly.
Master grabbed him by his clothes and pulled him away. “Jonah! Get them out of here!” She faced the kid.
“Master, I’ll fight with you.” Master held her hand up to Jonah. He stopped.
“You’ll die,” she smiled at us, tears streaking down her eyes. “Get out of here while I’m still asking nicely.” Her voice trembled, and her shoulders shook softly. She glanced at Marcia, “I can’t lose all of you.”
Jonah clenched his fists, “I know I can help you.”
“Jonah!” Master yelled, “Protect Gruff. He needs you more than I do.”
My hands shook, soaked with blood. I looked up at Jonah; he bit his lip and scooped me off the ground. “Put me down. We can’t leave her.” Jonah stopped, looking back at Marcia. He ran back and picked her up as well.
I placed my hands on Marcia once more as Jonah ran away. Magic flowed through me into her bleeding body. She clung to life, just barely. “````````````````” Marcia gasped loudly.
Lights appeared before my eyes. I looked once more at Master. She spared a glance back at me and let out a sigh of relief. The world around me faded to black.
