‘I can’t believe that I just ran off to this Alpha.’ Silvi thought inside her head while she packed up her stuff to immediately leave the unexpected and unwanted encounter.
She stood up and was ready to take her first step to leave the Alpha for good when he unexpectedly grabbed her wrist.
“Don’t leave…please.”
Her heart pounded with the softness of that voice. She turned around to face him with a confused look.
She was still looking at the same man, but surprisingly, with a very delicate and soft expression. She caught his eyes and she was sure that the Alpha Kallean from before had black eyes. This Alpha Kallean in currently in front of her has gold ones.
“Uhm, hi.” He said as if he’s somewhat shy. It shocked her to see that the man who was really conceited in her eyes is acting like a puppy in front of his owner.
“I’m really sorry about earlier.” He said.
She made her eyes slit and inspected him. “Who are you?” She asked. She is certain that the one she is facing is obviously a different person.
Alpha Kallean chuckled in his deep sexy, rich mysterious voice. It was still the same as with Apha Kallean, but in a different kind of way and it’s resonating in her ears and giving her the chills.
“I know you’ll see right through me.” He said and flashed a kind, humble good-looking smile. “I’m Alpha Kallean’s wolf, Dark. Nice to meet you again, Silvi.” He extended his hand.
She unconsciously took it with hers and sparks went circulating inside of her. ‘What’s this?’ She asked herself while looking into his golden eyes.
“Oh… I see. Wow, that’s really cool. You can change personalities with your wolf. It’s like having split personality.” She said.
“You’re not feeling uncomfortable with this?” Dark asked, a little concerned.
“At first. But I’m more amazed than uncomfortable.”
“That’s a relief because truthfully I am your m---.”
“Okay that’s it.” Dark’s tone completely changed in a second. Or should she say, Alpha Kallean is back.
The color of his eyes changed as well, turning it back to his black ones.
“Hey, that was rude. I was enjoying my conversation with Dark.” She complained, annoyed that he just cut off her conversation with Dark. It’s the first time she can face Alpha Kallean without awkwardness, un-comfortableness and remorse. And there was also something that Dark was supposed to say to her. She could sense that it was something important.
“I don’t care. It’s not your choice to make. It’s mine.” He said that with pure coldness in his tone, but his eyes are saying a completely different thing that she can’t interpret.
She sighed. “Dark was a better conversationalist than you. Can you bring him back? I prefer talking to him. He had more sense than you.” She never had that pleasing and light interaction before.
“You only talked for a few seconds.”
“And it was really wonderful.” She can’t tell exactly why, but she felt like she had some sort of connection with Dark the moment she first touched his hand. And surprisingly…she wanted more.
‘And he’s currently celebrating inside my head.’ He whispered.
“What?” She asked because he mumbled something that she did not catch.
“Are you done?”
“What?”
He looked at her wooden bucket. It was thrashing a lot because of the fishes inside. “Uh. Yeah. I was about to have breakfast after catching that big one. I want to share my breakfast with you as thanks for helping me about earlier, but I don’t know if you’ll want to eat anything from our diner.” After what happened before, she doubted that he’ll ever want to have any connection with them. “So I think I’ll be going now.” She said and started to leave.
But then he grabs her arm, again. And strangely, the weird sparks when Dark touched her earlier was there. Maybe because they are the same person.
“What now?”
He was looking at her, but not really looking at her. He was staring at her blankly. He was probably talking to his wolf.
“Dark says…don’t leave just yet.”
“Did Dark say that?”
He sighed as if annoyed by something. “Yes, he wants to be with you for a while.”
She smiled at him, no… to Dark. This is weird. So Dark can sense them talking.
“Will you exchange with him?”
“No.”
“Bummer.” She said pouting.
“He can’t exactly take over whenever he wants. He’s my wolf. When in wolf form, he can take over whenever he likes. But when in this form, I’m in command.”
“I see.”
“But he’s still as annoying inside my head.”
“Can’t you switch with him?”
“I don’t want to. I want to read my book and relax. But you can stay as per requested by him.”
“Why would he request something like that?”
“He likes you, that’s all.”
“And you hate me.”
“Don’t get the wrong idea. I don’t exactly hate you. I just don’t like you. It’s different.”
‘Really? I always thought they’re the same thing.’
She shrugged off the thought and settled all her things back down. She opened the basket and took out the contents. Croissants that she baked earlier, a breakfast meal, eggs, bacon and the garlic rice she asked Calber to make. He makes the best garlic rice. And lastly, freshly brewed coffee with cream in her thermos.
Everything smells great.
She grabbed a croissant and glanced at Alpha Kallean who was sitting under a tree and made himself comfortable by leaning on it while reading his book.
She wanted to offer him some, but he might throw her to the dungeons if he didn’t like it, so she refrained herself from doing so and began eating the food all by herself.
But she’s really becoming so bothered by him just sitting there. She prefers to eat alone when she’s fishing. Oh well. All she really needs to do is completely ignore his presence.
Of which she found really hard to do. But she did it anyway. She also wants to finish her breakfast while staring at the river.
-o-o-o-
Kallean could not help but steal a few glances at Silvi who was busy eating her breakfast peacefully while staring at the river.
‘She’s really beautiful.’ Dark commented. He peeked at her again, above the pages of his book.
To his perspective, Silvi is simple. There is really nothing that makes her special or standout. Black slightly curly hair, very light brown eyes, small pinkish lips, small face, petite body like any other woman and simple dark-green long sleeved inner shirt and knee breeches. She looks ordinary to him.
However, her scent is really tantalizing. And he knows that that was what’s drawing him in.
‘Why won’t you see her as our mate?’ Dark said to him.
‘She’s human.’ He replied.
‘So? What’s wrong with that?’
‘I don’t see her ruling the pack with me. Humans are weak.’
‘But so is everyone.’
He sighed. ‘When did you become so gentle? This is not you Dark.’ The Dark he knows is different from what he used to. ‘You’re never this sweet to anyone.’
‘Only to our mate.’
He sighed again and continued reading his book. He’s going to have a headache if he’ll continue talking to his smitten wolf.
The whole area remained in silence until something unexpected happened.
His stomach grumbled which brought red taints on his cheeks.
‘Damn it! I forgot that I didn’t eat proper breakfast yet.’
“You’re not going to go back to your mansion for food? You might collapse if you let your hunger prolong.” Silvi suddenly said with her gaze remaining to the view of the river.
“Alphas do not collapse just because of a simple hunger. So no thanks. I’ll eat later.”
He saw her shrug and took a bite on her croissant. “Whatever you say, Alpha.”
He’s really awestruck whenever she talks to him so casually. He is not used to people talking to him in this way, without any hint of respect. But she talks to him however the heck she wants. But he’s okay about it, surprisingly.
‘I want to eat what she’s having.’ Dark suddenly spoke.
‘I don’t want to. I already tasted the food from their diner and I don’t want to be disappointed again.’ He wanted the one which he ate with his servants before. The one with really good flavors. The servants kept telling that it was from Calber’s diner, but he refused to believe that.
‘Nevertheless, I want to try it.’ Dark kept on insisting. He kept on chanting the same thing to him and he’s starting to get annoyed. His wolf has never bugged him like this before. Dark is becoming more childish ever since they met their mate.
‘No.’ He insisted as well.
‘Stop eluding the bond between you two. I know you want her as much as I do. You’ve been waiting for our mate for ages.’
He clearly knows that he can’t always neglect the bond that is attached between him and her. He could certainly feel the strong force that’s pulling him to her. But it’s too hard for him to accept a human as a mate. It’s just, he can’t really see her ruling the pack with him.
‘Stop putting nonsense inside my head. You can’t convince me even if you are my wolf. It’s my call whom I want to be my mate.’
Dark remained silent for a while. Until he spoke again. ‘At least let me taste the food that she made.’
He breathed heavily. ‘Fine. But if you tell her that she’s my mate, I’m going take over again and shut the connection.’
Dark agreed with the condition and Kallean closed his book and lazily stood up.
