Twilight Chronicles

Is it betrayal if its for a greater purpose?

Is it betrayal if its for a greater purpose?

Oct 15, 2022

Getting everything sorted out and their preparations complete, everyone of them looked forward to a new endeavor on the third day.

“Whats with all that stuff, Aashia?” Bheem asked with a confused smile as he looked at her dragging a bag thrice her size towards the cart.

“Well…” Aashia stopped in between as he threw that heavy bag with brute strength inside the cart and wiped the sweat off her face.

Some time ago

“Its such a brilliant opportunity isn’t it?!” Sarla said as she was spinning herself around the room.

“I am going there for some fresh air, Mom.” Aashia said while looking a little bit disappointed.

“Listen carefully, Aashia, this is the chance for us to spread our business to the far horizons. Just imagine how rich we will be if some rich merchant or duke takes interest in my sweets. Touch wood, maybe the Emperor him-”

“Okay, good imagination mom. I got it all but don’t expect much.” She replied.

“Its just some stuff, haha…” Aashia replied to Bheem.

“I don’t think we want to know any further.” Laksh said while hiding his smirk using his right palm.

“Shut up.” She said.

“I don’t see myself fazed by such childish provocations. You still have a long way to go, my girl.” Jags said while laying on Bheem’s shoulders.

“Ah…I am not your girl, you c-” Aashia glared at Jags.

“Okay, let’s stop there!” Bheem interrupted her as he continued, “What the hell are you guys doing? We should start the journey on a positive note and here you are arguing amongst yourselves.”

“Let them be, Bheem. Its the age to do these stuffs. Instead, I am worried that you are too sincere.” Amrita said as she walked out to them.

“Mom, are you sure you aren’t coming? It will be fun.” Bheem asked in a sad tone.

“Its alright, Bheem. Just take care and enjoy yourself.” She replied.

“I will.” He bowed down to her and touched her legs before bidding her farewell. All of the children sat inside the cart.

“Go and have a blast you all!!!” Amrita shouted as the cart started moving.

“Let’s go!!!!!” All of them shouted while waving their hands to her.

“They are all so excited about the trip. It feels like I am betraying their expectations.” Harsh said with a monotonous smile while looking down. He was in a different cart than the children, moving a few meters ahead of them.

“No, you are not, you are not, Vardhana!!” A deep sound reverberated inside the cart as the black mist covered Harsh.

“But, he is just a kid. My conscience wouldn’t allow me…the empire is not in the condition to support any kind of tourism right now.”

The mist slowly took shape of a male body still vague and fading.

“That’s what we are here for. We are taking care of it and we will. I wouldn’t have requested you to bring him if it wasn’t necessary.” The mist said.

“Still-”

“Just believe in me, Harsh.”

“Haha, what else am I capable of doing right now, right Dev?” Harsh chuckled with an empty laugh.

“…”

“Uh…is everything alright, minister sir?” The driver removed the curtains to look at Harsh. In a blink of an eye, the mist disappeared in thin air.

“Yes, I am fine, just focus on the route.”

“Y-Yes, my lord.” The curtains were closed and the cart continued to move forward at full pace.

“Its took me a hell of a difficulty to obtain this, you bastard.” Harsh said as he took out a test tube like holder which was empty, just some remnants of the black mist lurking around it.

After a long travel of around twenty hours, they all were all inside the premises of Brahmas, the capital of the Brahma kingdom.

“Phew, my shoulders are all stiff from last night.” Laksh said as he pressed the back of his shoulders in pain.

“For a growing bud like you to feel so weak, there’s definitely something wrong with your brain.” Aashia said as she jumped out of the cart.

Laksh suddenly ran close to her and started looking around her for something.

"What is it?" She asked.

“It’s weird. I can’t find the sense in that sentence lol.”

“Nice one, Laksh.” Jags said as he joined the two of them with Bheem.

“Okay then kids, enjoy your visit to the town but don’t get too far from the guards, alright? I have some work at the castle so I will meet you all there directly.” Harsh said.

“Can’t we just go to meet my Dad directly, uncle?” Bheem asked.

“I would have Bheem but he is on-duty right now, posted to the neighboring city, so its still time before you meet him. Nevertheless, just use this if you want to buy anything, it will act as your pass to enter the castle, so be careful with it.” He said as he handed him over a metal slab, biscuit-sized, with royal engravings over it.

“Okay, uncle. See you later.” Bheem bid farewell to Harsh.

“So, where should we go first…guys??” Bheem said as he looked around.

“…seriously????” All of them ran off on their own, headed to the same destination, followed by the two soldiers, Stree[st̪ɾi] Bazaar.

Its been more than thousand years since the end of the war, "Mahabharata" or so it is been told in the scriptures.
Some even consider it all some urban legend while some are too religious to ignore it. But its time for it all to come to end as the clogs of the fate have started turning once again.
Follow, Bheem and his friends on a journey full of adventures as they experience the new changes in their world while understanding the real reason of certain existences and their roles in it.

A/N: It is heavily based on Indian mythology and certain situations have been directly used from kids shows although this is an entirely different story altogether.
So enjoy :)
