"Janee what the hell are you doing!" A voice shouted through the little farmhouse. It was my sister.
"I'm almost done. Just a little-" I tried explaining.
"NO! You get out of there right now!" My sister was now banging on the bathroom door.
"FINE! I'm ready anyways." I said while opening the door. "You know I want to make a good first impression at my new school."
"And you could do that by not showing up late on your first day.", Mika said with a bit of irony in her voice. "You know people don't actually care that much if you look good, but they do value a person who takes what they do seriously."
"Well. My dear sister, I do take everything I do seriously. Like doing my makeup." I said with a smug look on my face. at least I hoped it looked smug.
"Okay jokester get in the car." Mika was already stepping into the car, while I was still locking the front door.
It was quiet during the car ride.
That usually doesn't happen, but today we don't seem to have anything to talk about. I've been home all summer, doing nothing but annoying my sister, so I guess it's not much of a surprise, that she got so angry at me earlier.
**I mean I get it. I haven't been very helpful to her. And now that I've gotten expelled again... Well! Doesn't matter. Right now you have to think about your new school! Uuh it is so exciting. I wanna meet all of the new people and maybe find a new best friend. That would be so cool.**
While thinking about all that I unconsciously started smiling. Of course, Mika caught on to it immediately:
"Whatcha smiling about Janiiiii?!" She said while smiling.
"Stop calling me Jani!"
"Why not? I think it suits you perfectlyyyy~" She responded naggingly.
"Ugh. I don't even care."
"Whatever you're saying, Janii."
.
. It got quiet again
.
"We're almost there. My phone says only 500 meters to go. Do you want me to leave you here?"
"No thanks, it's fine. I guess being seen with you isn't too bad."
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Mika smiling proudly. It made me kinda uncomfortable.
"Finally!" Mika stretched herself. "I really don't want to ride you to your school every day, the way is too long." She cried out.
"Okay okay. I get it. I'll find a bus that drives here."
"Thanks." Mika smiled "Now have a good first day. And make good choices."
"Haha! thank you sis." I said in a sincere voice. Then I shut the car door.
I grabbed my backpack tightly while walking through the crowd of students. I looked to the ground, I didn't want anybody looking at me.
**Okay stop it Janee! You got this Jade! Show yourself.**
Jade is like a front for me, I call her in uncomfortable situations. Jade is much more self-confident than Janee, so she takes care of them.
As soon as I thought of Jade my bag straightened, my eyes moved from the floor to looking right in front and my hands relaxed.
Janee. When people hear her name they don't think about a girl looking the way she does. She's nice, helpful, and has all of the good traits a person can have, but they still treat her as lesser than them. She doesn't mind, she doesn't care about what others think of her, until...
