The True Colours of an Empire_Ch:1_Dragonborn 12

"You must have been rather brave to take those injuries. Rest up. My men will help you." The captain-general looks at his men. Four soldiers step out to help Iriel bring Eliel back to life.

Captain general stands up and gets busy investigating the rest of the area. He looks at the massive burnt stone, and then at the figure of Drachma beside it. He barely has any clothes on his body.

"Well, I’m damned. Drachma Scalesplitter, right before my very eyes! And capturing two mages no less. Ha-ha! Horovar told me about your arrival. But had I known it was over this, I would have joined you in this endeavour." He says while helping him get up from the ground.

"You must be Taleus." Drachma grunts as he gets up.

The guards are looking at the two slaves. One of them suddenly grabs his weapon, unsheathes it and walks over to the slaves in anger to deliver a killing blow. "These scaly f**ks want to come to our little area in Vada and cause this much trouble!"

Iriel reacts quick enough to counter the guard flinging his weapon. "These people are to be brought to Resa, alive." She throws daggers at the guard with her eyes.

Drachma and some guards carry the body of Eliel and the slaves. Eliel is barely being able to speak. His eyes make contact with Meadow’s.

During walking the two slaves out of the town, the citizens of Vada look at them in disgust as they parade through the streets of Vada Town to the port. The ground with uplifted stones, shattered windows, and the people of the town recovering from the effects of the slave’s potential magic attack; these are the only things that can be witnessed all over the destroyed town.

"Disgusting vermin they are!" shouts a citizen.

"Walking overgrown lizards!" shouts another.

Their voices are full of rage and anger. The crowd becomes more violent as the two slaves get near the docks. The unconscious sister is hit with rotten garbage. The disgusting sludge is coating her wounds. The male attempts to shout at the people, but before he could, Drachma places a brace around his jaws. A big rock hits his face. Blood starts leaking from his forehead, flowing down his left cheek. Anger and rage fill his eyes. Iriel and Meadow watch as the male simply looks down in shame while covering his sister from the rubbish thrown at them. The insult’s waves keep coming one after another.

Iriel, standing next to the protective brother, "Anyone who dares to curse them or throw anything at them again, better beware. These people face judgment in the capital's system of law, that I’ll make sure." proclaims to the crowd.

The silence of the crowd echoes throughout the whole area. Passing by one of the citizens Meadow overheard. "Those damn b*st*rds! First, they attacked that missing prince from their little sand pen, and now these guys attacking our Vada too. We should have wiped them off the moment we had the chance." Meadow looks at the slaves and then continues to walk.

The day slowly comes to an end. Drachma gets new clothes. After wearing them, he approaches Taleus. "Sir, I would like to request to let me get back on service. This mission was from the House Lomamantle. And getting my old rank is the only form of gratitude that I want." Drachma states to the decorated man standing before him.

"Drachma, a majority of the citizens believe that you are one of the most important figures against Youprenians in their culture. However, my hands are tied when it comes to the subject of your reinstatement. I can put in a good word for you, but with the advocacy of the Lomamantles, the chances of you getting your position back are rather high." He says, placing a hand on Drachma's shoulder.

"Well then, Taleus, it has been a pleasure coming back and meeting you. May we meet again…with my decorations no less."

Taleus chuckles, “It's owned by a private collector at the moment. So, hopefully, speaking to him will help with getting your old uniform back." he gets off the ship and starts walking away. After walking a few steps away, he stops, looks back at Drachma and says, "And the horned boy, he will receive a reward for his bravery." Then, putting the helmet back on, he disappears into the crowd of the people of Vada.

There is an empire called Khecasha, full of happiness and prosperity. The people of this empire were very kind and simple...except the fact that they could use magic. Some beautiful magic such as flourishing flowers, some admirable ones like healing, and some deadly ones that can turn you into corpse in a heartbeat. Living peacefully with these amazing magics as a part of their life, they were happy.

But, is this happiness forever to last?
